  1. Just wondering if someone with an '07 MKX or Edge can go get the numbers off their factory Sirius tuner and tell me where it is located in the vehicle. Thank you!
  2. We also received this letter for our '07 MKX. I would like to get the coolant flushed in the spring anyway so we'll see if they will do it under this "situation" free of cost. Seriously doubt it but I was gonna pay them to do it anyway. I hate trying to get rid of used coolant if the job is done at home.
  3. Day 3: They finally called at 4pm and told us it was done. Noise is gone. Problem solved!
  4. Funny how if it's under warranty they'll take their time for days (leaving you without your vehicle) and do the bare minimum of work or effort and try their best to blame it on something they can't fix. BUT, once the warranty is gone, they have all kinds of ideas what the problem is and are willing to bring it in and work on it right now and replace lots of expensive parts....geez
  5. Day 2: They finally got around to looking at it today and finally called about 3pm to tell us they don't have the part in stock, will have to be ordered from another dealer and will be in tomorrow. Has to stay there tonight again. Wonder if they'll actually get it done tomorrow? We did get a 2010 Ford Fusion as a free rental but it is the 4-cyl. It has 21,000 miles already!! Also, the change oil notification is on and it shows one percent of oil life remaining. Poor car. Rentals lead a rough life.
  6. Well....Day 1 of dealer service aggrivation. Had an appointment to bring the vehicle in at 9am. Wife dropped it off, service manager said they would have it done today no problem. No one had called by 4:30 this afternoon so she called and they told her that they would not be able to look at it until tomorrow...wasn't that the whole idea of an appointment? She had made sure to inform the guy this morning when she dropped it off that she would need a vehicle to get to work tomorrow and the guy said no problem and if for some reason they couldn't get it done that they would loan her a vehicle. Now, he tells her that they don't have any vehicles to loan. It is a very large dealer with literally hundreds of new and used vehicles and they have none to loan? Keep in mind this is the same guy she talked to this morning so she wasn't very thrilled to say the least. So after being on hold for 10 minutes the guy gets back on and says they will take her to Enterprise to rent a vehicle. I guess I should be happy with the fact they are at least renting us a vehicle but I dread having to take anything into a dealer for service because it ALWAYS results in a bunch of runaround and people not following through with what they say they will do. Ranting done for today...
  7. Yup. It goes in Wed. Judging by all the posts I've read on here and other places that is exactly what it is. Hopefully the dealer doesn't try to give us any runaround on the warranty work although they've been very good to us in the past. I've replaced wheel bearings/hub assemblies in other vehicles before and it is a pretty simple job but since it's under warranty I'm not doing it! I'm kinda leery of the other folks on here who have had multiple wheel bearings go bad on the same vehicle but hopefully that doesn't occur with ours.
  8. Our '07 MKX with 30,000 miles is getting an appt to go into the dealer to check out what I think is a bad rear wheel bearing. Over the past week it has developed a "humming" noise while driving that goes up and down with vehicle speed. Kinda like the humming sound a truck makes when it has mud tires on it or if you were to hold a twig against a bicycle wheel/spokes while riding fast. I have isolated the noise to the right rear and would assume it is a bad wheel bearing but not sure. Not a tire noise. It has 2 month old Michelin tires on it and the noise was not there before last week. I'll keep you posted to what we find out. Thank god for warranty!! The MKX is only FWD so that should make their job much easier.
  9. I like it, serves the purpose and much more reliable and well built than the cheapies. Nice Sport model Edge BTW, I love those! We looked at those but couldn't pass up the deal we got on this young MKX. Now I see the Midnight package MKXs and wish we had waited but that would have really jacked up our payment!
  10. I'll take some today. Didn't know if anyone was interested...ha!
  11. Redid it. Ran the phone cable (hidden) up behind the A-pillar, front headliner and through the sun-visor opening where it screws into the roof. Picked up a visor clip for it today too. No wire at all can be seen now and is much easier to reach.
  12. Ok, done alot of reading on here and all over the internet and was hoping some of you could answer a few questions that I am still foggy about. Our vehicle is an '07 Lincoln MKX with the standard 6CD non NAV factory head unit. The vehicle is also equipped without a Vista-Roof and does have the rear seat ceiling mounted DVD screen/entertainment system. I am looking into installing a new aftermarket NAV head unit. Something like a Pioneer Z110BT. We'll start with the questions: 1: I have already located and purchased a double DIN dash panel from a wrecked MKX at a local salvage yard that was originally equipped with a NAV head unit. My standard radio panel will not accept a full double DIN due to the way the radio and panel is made. That problem is solved. The people at Crutchfield claim they cant find a mounting kit for a double DIN head unit. Seems like BS to me since alot of you have made the switch to aftermarket and I went through the same issue on my '07 F150 when I put an Avic D3 in it. Anyway, what particular brand do you suggest and part numbers would be helpful. I think I used a Scosche or some similar brand in the F150 and it has been fairly solid so far. Don't want a flimsy one. 2: As for the VSS wire....Since my MKX does not have NAV and the aftermarket requires the VSS is it already in the vehicle end of the radio harness? Seems like it should be due to the Speed Sensitive Volume function on the radio but I want to make sure. Wire color please? If I need to manually locate and tap into it no big deal but it would be nice to find it is already there in the harness itself. 3: I know that I need the PAC adapter to retain my steering wheel controls. As for retaining the rear seat DVD I found this from a post that I searched for. A Metra Axxess AFDI-RSE-01. Heres a link: http://www.amazon.com/Axxess-Interface-AFD...r/dp/B00200K20G Looks like it replaces the aftermarket harness that I would need to install the aftermarket head unit but not sure. Would I also still need the additional aftermarket harness? Just wondering if this is the full deal or just another add on harness that needs to be added on to the wiring harness that would be installed to add the head unit. Hard to explain that, sorry if I sound confusing. I know this question has been asked before but I wanted to confirm that this is the correct product I need. Never did read if it worked or not. I am fairly proficient in installing electronics/car sound systems but keeping all the factory functions integrated and clean is becoming more difficult so I want to make sure I get the right stuff. Tracking down all this stuff is not easy and places like Crutchfield and other sources aren't that helpful when it comes to specific questions such as these. Aside from these questions, everything seems fairly straightforward. Thanks for the help!
  13. I'll probably move it up towards the roof. I drove it today and find it kinda hard to reach where it is. Easy enough to do.
  14. If it's anything like the 400s "s" it means a silicone anti-drainback valve.
  15. In case you are still looking... I have a work provided vehicle and drive about 40,000 miles a year so a GPS is essential for me. I started with a basic Garmin Nuvi 205 a couple of years ago when they first came out and it was great. Unfortunately, it crapped out on me recently and I was looking seriously at some better models and ran across some Nuvi 265 units at Walmart (of all places!) that were right around $200 even though they are being replaced by Garmins newer models. It has spoken street names, and a few other features better than my old 205 and still much less expensive than some of the other new models. Not bad if you are looking for a basic type unit which is pretty much all I need for my work vehicle. There are many features to chose from that cover all cost ranges depending on what you are looking for but the $200 will only get you basic features.
  16. Thanks. Make sure to post the results and any useful part numbers that would be helpful. I'm glad I waited and didn't get this put in when we picked up the vehicle now that I know what "can" be done. We had originally started out looking for a new Edge but ran across this young used MKX at the dealer we have purchased from for years and we got a deal too good to pass up although it was missing a few options like remote start that I would like to add so this is very helpful. I am capable of many vehicle mods but remote start systems are not something I ever want to mess with again. I'd be happy to pay the dealer to install a genuine Ford item.
  17. I've made the mistake (much earlier in my driving experience) of not noticing the gasket from the old filter had stayed on and put the new filter on over top of it. Needless to say that involved an additional trip to the store in another vehicle to buy lots of shop rags, floor-dry, and more oil.
  18. I'll have to follow this thread. I was considering getting this add-on (Ford remote start) on our '07 MKX as it is one of the options it doesn't have. It lives in the garage at night but it would be nice for the wife to be able to start the vehicle at work and be able to have the heater running on the auto climate control also. If that ends up not being possible I may ditch the whole idea and save the money for something else.
  19. In my search to find a convenient and somewhat decent looking way to mount my Escort detector in our MKX I came up with this. Found some grey phone line laying around that matched the interior and is basicly the same as the power cord for an Escort detector, tested 12V routing in the phone line to find a combination of wires that would power the detector, added a mini-fuse "add-a-circuit" + a 1A fuse to an unused iginition switched 12V source in the fuse panel and tucked everything away. Just need to hide the wire a bit more but it does look fairly good and easy to remove when we don't need it in the car. Too bad the connection on the detector isn't on the other side. Thought this might be helpful to any of you who would like to try it this way.
  20. I could also be wrong but I was under the impression that they are simply regular Sylvania automotive bulbs with a blueish tint to the glass.
  21. When we picked up our '07 MKX a few months back it had just under 30K on it. I requested that the dealer (Ford) throw in a trans fluid flush along with an oil/filter change for free and they did. It definately won't hurt to do it early and I plan to do it at around 60K also. The small cost involved is just extra insurance in my opinion. I'm not sure what it costs to have it done now but when I had it done on my '03 Ranger a few years back it was around $100. Just like any other fluid in a car it does break down and get filthy over time. I even use a suction pump to siphon out the power steering fluid resivoir in our vehicles about one a year and replace at least that much with fresh fluid. Amazing how burnt smelling and dirty that gets in every car.
  22. I use clay treatment + Meguires NXT on the paint, chrome, wheels, and light lenses/smooth plastic. As for the textured and black plastic parts I use Meguires Interior Quick Detailer. Clay+frequent applications of Rain-X (being very careful to not get any on the paint) takes care of the glass. As I mentioned in another post, masking tape can be your best friend here. Keeping the wax off the textured plastic and any accidental smears of detailer off the paint.
  23. We have had a new set of the Latitude tours on our '07 MKX for a month and a few weeks now and they seem to be a vast improvement over the factroy Contis. I think you will be more than impressed with your Michelins also. I'm suprised you got to 45K on the Contis, mine were getting pretty thin at only 30K.
  24. I've had them in the headlight and foglight locations of our past several vehicles, An '03 Ford Ranger, an '07 Mercury Mariner, an '07 F150, and now in our '07 MKX. I just prefer the slight difference in look over the yellowish color of the standard halogen bulbs. I have had no reliability issues with them so far but as others have mentioned I am very careful not to touch the glass on the bulb or let it scrape on anything while installing them. They are basicly just standard wattage (same as factory issue bulbs) just with a blueish tint to the glass. As long as you stick with the same bulb numbers you will have nothing to worry about as far as burning up light harnesses and such as can happen with high wattage bulbs.
