I test drove one with a vista roof last week however, it had manafacturer plates and was a "loner" to dealer for test drives only (Not for Sale). It did look really nice, and the the sun shades when used give the interior the finished look of a regular headliner!

To all interested, Motorweek will be doing a first look at the edge on this weeks show (check local PBS stations for times) and a full road test the 2nd or 3ed week in January.

What are your impressions on the brakes and handling which have been critisized in the reviews? Are they nit-plicking ? Motor week just did the drivers test last week on the MKX and said 60-0 on the breaking was 147 ft. whick worries me! That vehicle may weight a couple of hundred pounds more however, that number seems way long for a vehicle with four wheel disc brakes! I was looking at the rear brake rotors on the edge this weekend and they looked undersized however, it is tough to tell with out actually measuring. Does anyone know what size rotors are on the edge? What are your personal impressions of these two items after driving the edge?????

I test drove one over the past weekend at a dealer in the northern suburbs of Chicago and they hade 6 vehicles on the lot however, they were all slated for delivery to entaprise rentals. They were all SE's with all wheel drive. I got a chance to see the purple, redfire, orange, carbon, black and dune. It was overcast day so the purple looked almost black because it is very dark! I think that color would look it's best in full sun. Orange and redfire looked good and even the dune looked pretty good!

From what I have read the upscape THX system was only available on the MKX, they have to hold something back for the jump in cost on that vehicle. The edge was listed in post #2 above (92merc) as a 9-speaker system with sub. I am also upset that they didn't put the tweeters up high to help with seperation but I am waiting to hear from someone whom actually listened to the audiophile set up before I write it off. I can't speak for the rest of you but the only time I get turn it to eleveeen, is while I am in my car (CUV) alone, so I look forward to a clear sounding system with no distortion. It goes a long way towards taking the edge of a long drive home. With all the attention focused on making this a quite cab, I am hoping the sound system is worthy. I drove a Murano with a sun roof and it sounded like a wind tunnel which would ruin the best stereo.

Hoping some of you guys can give me some insight on the Audiophile sound system. I have heard almost nothing about it other than total watts and speaker #'s. All the other sound systems available on the Edge had some details available on the "Build Your Edge" page. I am very picky about my sound systems and have usually ended up going aftermarket for the best sound. After hearing about all the time spent on cutting down noise on this vehicle, I would presume that extra attention was then put into a good sound system! This time around, I would like to give some consideration to the stock audiophile stystem. Has anyone had a chance to give a good listen to this option? Would appreciate any input on the bottom line......How does is sound? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the link! This article did not seem to be very favorable overall and directly concerning engine performance and handling. After all the ford hype, I was hoping for better however, I think I am going to have to wait and test drive one first as I can't seem to trust some of these test drives because they all seem to want a 7 passenger vehicle that handles like a porsche cayenne and gets the gas mileage of a prius! I think they should stick to comparisons with the Murano which it was intended to compete with. I rented one of those last fall and was pretty impressed with it's all around attributes except needing premium gasoline, the price tag and wind noise from the sun roof. The CVT was very strange to drive with no noticeable shifts however, you get used to it. I wish someone would give a legitmate Edge vs. Murano review!

If anyone comes across any test drive reports please post because the two I have read were not exactly stellar. Hope to hear some unbiased reports that are closer to what the press releases were boasting in terms of handling, ride and excelleration! I expect to see some roll out after the big media launch yesterday. Thanks in advance!

Thanks on both items, that will help me fiqure out what I want to order, just have to see the colors in person and i will have my mind made up.

It may be premature but , wanted to know if anyone has had a chance to drive a 2wd edge to see if torque steer is an issue with 265hp on the front wheels. Wanted to squeeze out a little more gas mileage(hoped for 21/27mpg epa) out of the vehicle if possible, which might be asking too much. Don't want to add the extra weight of 4wd unless torque steer is a problem on wet or snowy roads. Does anyone know why they did'nt go the direction of cvt trany instead of the 6-spd. I suspect it had to do with the torque of the new 3.5 V-6 being too much for the existing cvt used on the freestyle.

Hey does anyone know exactly what the high end audio package consists of? There seems to be no THX or brand assosiated with this package on the edge. Was interested in the number of speakers, sizes locations and amp power info. Can't seem to get any details from info that is released.
