  1. That cover looks cheap. BTW, the part that is going to get scratched/marred, is the edge of the bumper right before it slopes 90 degrees. I am just careful about putting things in and out of the cargo area.

Your right. I have one small chip on mine, just outside of the protectoer. It should have a lip that extends down an inch or so as I've seen on a few other makes.

  2. Oh, yeah the car will drop at least a half an inch more. You want a further drop, remove the spring isolators.....the spring isolators are the rubber rings the spring sits on. removal of the isolators will result in a slight noisier ride.

You should end with about an inch & a half drop up front. You really don't want to go any lower or you will be dragging the front facia over tall parking lot curbs.

  3. Did you have your remote in your pocket by any chance? A couple of weeks ago, I went out & discovered that I had triggered the global opening feature & the roof & front windows were open all night . At first, I thought someone had broken in, but realized what had happened.

  4. When I ordered my MKX, I either forgot or my salesman didn't note Sirius on the order. By the time I realized, my car was on its way. At any rate, I had the dealer install one. It works the same as the factory one. For some reason, they mounted the antenna a little off center. The saleman said there is something under the center. This cost me $500.00 with no free service.

  5. Sirius shares were up 7 cents, or 69 percent, at 18 cents in morning trading.

As part of the deal announced Tuesday, Liberty will provide a $280 million senior secured loan to Sirius, $250 million of which will be funded on Tuesday. Sirius will use the proceeds of the loan to repay $171.6 million of its maturing 2.5 percent convertible notes that had been due. The rest will be used for general corporate purposes.

The loan from Liberty bears a 15 percent interest rate and matures in December 2012.

The second phase of Liberty's investment provides another loan of $150 million to Sirius XM. Liberty has also agreed to offer to buy up to $100 million of the loans outstanding under Sirius XM's existing credit facilities.

In exchange, Liberty will get 12.5 million shares of preferred stock convertible into 40 percent of Sirius' common shares, and two seats on the company's board. The company said it expects Liberty Chairman John Malone and President and Chief Executive Greg Maffei to join the Sirius board..."

You can read more about that if you do a search...also consider than mainly the customers they have now are the new car owners which subscription is free, like me, that will not renew it after, and according to some statistics only the 18% does, also this 530 millions was loaned at a 15% interest, that is a huge sum of money, not sure if they were not able to survive by themselves now, how they will pay those interests, and be solvent, IMO just a miracle could save them...I will not bet on that horse sorry...the best I will do is to get a 3 or 4 month renewal period to see...

Subscription rates are going up in March I believe is what I read. That should help some. A little hard to understand the reason they can't make a profit with 20 million customers. Sounds like something only thr government can pull off.

I really hope they start addressing the uneven quality of sound from one station to another. I'm sure they are losing a lot of business for this reason. With hard drive becoming more common, this could hurt them also.

  6. what is the difference between a vista roof and a non vista roof inside... booth are roofs, you must have a roof over your head, how is the profile different? it is that significant to not get it?

anyway.. that BAMR roof kicks butt - a huge part of why I love that car. could not envision not having it.

I think there is a little less headroom with the Vista roof. I'm 6' 2" & have no problems. I did originally concider the MKZ, but couldn't get the seat comfortable & sit up straight at the same time.

  7. From the owner's manual:

    LIFTGATE

The liftgate area is only intended for cargo, not passengers.

I suppose they could have put a manual release in the cargo area, but then again how many folks lock themselves in the cargo area for more than 10 minutes?

    .

Kids lock themselves in the trunks of cars all too often. Thats why new cars require a release on the inside of the trunk. A tradgedy could easily happen here as well. I'm glad someone brought this up.

  8. my concern with those places is 2 fold

    1. people in a hurry drying the car off - near me, even touchless still has a final rag dry after the air blow - and doing final rub downs bump, nick, hit car and sit in the interior with stuff in their pockets. 1 guy put a hole in a leather seat of mine once when we forgot something in his back pocket

    2. when they use those rags, I know they are 'suppose' to be clean and from the 'new' pile, but many times I have watched them stretch a rag use from 1 car to another.. so a really dirty car make get crud on the rag that passes to your nice finish when they start to dry

In addition to the above, I've read that the chemicals used really do a job on the paint.

  9. I love pretty much everything about my edge, except for the fact that it feels squirrelly at high speeds. My Edge is AWD, and it seems to have lost something in the suspension. I just reached 10,000 miles the other day, and It doesnt seem like the suspension is as stiff and stable as the day that I bought it. Ive been underneath the chassis and nothing seems damaged or out of place. Honestly, Im just thinking about gutting the stock shocks and possibly the sway bar (If one exists) and starting fresh. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    GMG

If you have not done so already, check that the tire pressure is correct. Even a few pounds under or over can make a big difference.

  10. Hi MKX2007. :D You have a misunderstanding of how the Information Center achieves its calculations. If you read the Owners Manual information concerning the Information Center, you may have a better understanding of how it arrives at its calculations.

For example, it is natural and normal for the "Miles to Empty" figure to vary. It will depend on the average fuel economy you are recently achieving. Since your average fuel economy lately has risen (from 22.1 to 22.9), your "Miles to Empty" reading will also increase.

It is the same story concerning how quickly the "Miles to Empty" reading drops as you drive. It drops according to real world driving at the moment. So if you are driving in stop and go traffic and getting 16 mpg, the reading will drop faster than normal, since the calculation was initially figured at whatever higher mileage you were averaging before (i.e. 22.9) and vice-versa. It will rarely drop the exact amount of your actual miles driven, because how you drive will vary from minute to minute, let alone day to day.

This is all a bit hard to explain in a short forum reply, so again your best course of action would be to read your Owners Manual. It has several pages of information explaining how the Information Center works. You will have much better understanding of how it calculates its readings.

Also, do you keep a manual history of your MPG's, by keeping track of how many actual gallons you refill the tank with versus the number of miles driven on the previous tankful of gas? If not, you should. It is the easiest way to verify the accuracy of the Information Center. If you do not do that now or are not sure how, it is also explained in the Owners Manual.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

I've had the car for a year a half & drive same route to work & back at about the same speed. This just started happening the past couple of months. When I fill up, it ALWAYS showed around 410-415 miles to empty. The last 4 times the miles to empty have gone up each time. Now, over 30 miles more.

When I left work today, it read 444 miles to empty & I know I drove about 26 miles. So according to the display I drove 3 miles. By the time I arrived home, about another 26 miles, it read 382 miles to empty.According to the display I drove 62 miles. I also believe the average MPG is inflated also. Since breakin, its always been 22.1 to 22.2. I can't believe my driving habits suddenly changed enough for it to climb to 22.9.

  11. Has anyone with the info center had any problems with inaccurate readings? The past 4 times I've filled up I've noticed that the "miles to empty" keeps getting higher on each fill up. In the past, it would read around 415 miles to empty. Today, it showed 448 to empty. Also, it doesn't keep pace with the amount of miles driven. Example; I know I've driven about 25 miles & the readout has only dropped 10 miles. After driving perhaps 50 miles, the readout will start dropping faster then the amount of miles driven. Example; drive about 25 miles & the readout will show 40 or more miles. Also the average MPG has creeped up from 22.1 to 22.9.

  12. Look in the door mounted mirror, nobody there

    Look forward

    Turn on left sig

Start moving to left lane, LOUD HOONKING Lean forward look in door mounted mirror, yep there's somebody back there

    Swerve back into lane

This isn't a very good description but you get the point.

You really need to be looking forward most of the time, don't look from one mirror to the other, PLEASE.... My wife might be making a emergency stop in front of you

    ab

That is VERY acurate & where I have had many close calls. About a month ago, I changed lanes into the center lane & I heard brakes lock up. It was a Supercrew that was trying to get into the right lane to exit. I'm getting too old for these kind of surprises.

  13. Here is the profile view of the bumper saver / protectors that are being sold on ebay currently.

That looks about the same thickness as the ones from Ford. My dealer put mine on for no extra charge when I had it there for a couple of other things. They mounted it right out to the crease. Of course, I managed to make a small chip in the paint just outside the protector taking a door out of the back.

  14. For the past couple months I've had a problem with my 07 edge, whereby the fan will be on one minute, then slow down, and then sometimes shut all the way off. Took it to the dealership and of course they couldnt' get it to do it. Anyone else have this problem?? Or know of a solution??

If yours has a cabin air filter, check to see if its plugged up. May not be the problem, but worth checking.

  15. My wife is 5’4” and doesn’t have a problem looking over her shoulder.

I’m 6’ and when I look over my shoulder I can see a little out of the rear passenger window but SMALL cars and motorcycles hiding behind the post are a problem.

    ab

I'm almost 6' 2' & when I turn my head, I can only see the window on the back door. I cannot see outside the car. I have my mirror adjusted quite a way out.

  16. just curious, how long did it actually take for yours to get this stage? I know it will vary by location and usage, but just curious how much time passed?

It was about 13 months & about 10,000 miles. I checked it at that time & is was full to the top of the ridges. I vacumed it out & put the old one back in. I tried to get a new filter through Parts America. They list it, but don't stock it. I went to my Lincoln dealer & they ordered one for me. From my experience, I would say check it about every 6 months.

I'm curious what that string is. Mine doesn't have that.
