While I was happily driving down the highway this afternoon, the top strip flew off and over my car. Luckily, it didn't hit anybody else. Has anybody else had this problem? This is my third Edge, and I reluctantly traded in my '11 for my '12 after having it for over 2 years. I thought there wouldn't be that much difference from model year to model year. I was wrong. Regardless, while driving on the highway, the chrome strip lifted up and flew over my car and almost hit the person in the lane next to me. wlepse Posted June 12, 2012 Report Share Posted June 12, 2012 Sounds like someone screwed up at the factory and didn't install something right. Seems to me if this were a design issue it would happen much more frequently. Also, when things like this are designed poorly they tend to be even more of a problem if people take off and put the back on. Since several people here have wrapped theirs and haven't had any ill effects I really think your case is a one off. Either way I would contact the dealer and see what they say.
