mount_airy Posted January 6, 2014 Report Share Posted January 6, 2014 Hello all and thank you for setting up this forum. I am a new owner of a used 2008 Ford Edge Limited AWD. Of course when you buy something used, people don't give you all of the info that a Ford Dealer would and of course I have some questions I am hopeful that all of you experience Ford Edge owners can help with. The previous owner stated they lost all of the manuals in one of their moves, so I am downloading them when I can find them. I have located the standard owners manual and I think I found the manual for the sync system. I did not realize that the Navigation system required a DVD, which of course is missing and it appears without the DVD the voice part does not work either, but I am not sure. I have only had this Edge for a day and a half so far and have not had a lot of time to go through it. Not to bore everyone with my long stories, I could use some guidance on two items. 1) There is a message that comes up when I put it in reverse, that "park aid" is not functioning. I am assuming it has a rear parking aid system, how does this work? Where is the sensor located? How do you make it work? 2) Is there an online source for the service manuals? I had a Nissan Murano before the Edge and was able to get all of the service manuals online which helped answer a ton of my questions, maybe the Ford Edge Service manuals can do the same? wannabang Posted January 6, 2014 Report Share Posted January 6, 2014 Welcome! There is an online OM, which is what I use since mine didn't come with a paper one. Your parking aid would be a backup sensor, which would beep, or if your vehicle has a camera, it could be that. I had sensors and cameras installed aftermarket, so I'm pretty sure they just function and aren't tied into the vehicles computer, so I've never seen that error. Hope all goes well. I love my '08. ls973800 Posted January 6, 2014 Report Share Posted January 6, 2014 Not the factory service manuals from Ford, but here is a link to a free on line public library access to the Chilton service manuals. Not all models, makes, and years are there yet, but many are. Once on the following link, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the area that says "infotrac.galegroup." etc. That takes you to the next page where you click proceed.
