XCore
I just purchased a 2011 Edge SE with a base radio. There's an audio jack and USB port under center armrest. The USB will charge my iPhone but when I go to the Aux input area of the radio I can only select the Line In option and not the USB nor iPod otions that are displayed. Is this normal? Am I making the wrong assumptions about this radio's capabilities? Thank you for any help.
akirby
Aux input is just for the line in. With Sync you need to select User Device. If you don't have the owner's manual you can download one from motorcraftservice.com.
XCore
Thanks for the reply but this is a base radio. No Sync and No Touch. I can see three options under "Aux"..."Line In" which is selected and active, "IPOD" and "USB". I am not able to select either ipod or usb. akirby
If you have a USB input then you do have Sync even with the base radio. If you're not getting the option for USB or iPOD then it might be a hardware problem. Try a different usb cable and/or a different phone/ipod. XCore
Thank you again for the reply. I'll find a new cable but in the mean time, shouldn't I still be able to select USB or iPod as the input device? They're listed along with Line In but can't be selected. akirby
If it doesn't sense something plugged into the usb port it may not give you the option and a bad cable would cause that.
XCore
Soooo...I go out to the car with a new lightning cable and realize the the USB ports are actually a very low-profile charger plugged into the power port under the line-in plug that wife decided to use. This means that I have no USB input and a base system. This leads to a new topic to follow. Thanks for the help.
akirby
Mystery solved! It's always the wife's fault.......
