Replace / Install Keypad?

Recommended Posts

I have an '08 MKX with factory installed keyless entry keypad. Recently when I opened it, metal clip in the back of the keypad which holds it in place fell off (the edge of the plastic holding it broke). So, I am going to buy a new keypad and replace it.

It appears to be simple.. but before I assume too much, I wanted to see if anyone here has experience changing they keypad. The part number for the keypad in Black / Ebony is: 8H6Z-14A626-AE

It looks like I can just unplug the wire harness from the old one, plug in the new one, and slide it into place. The clips look like they're designed to snap in and hold the keypad in place.

Has anyone here done this before? Is the above assessment accurate, or is it harder than that?

It was even easier than it looked..

I got the part in the mail yesterday and I installed it while pumping gas this morning. A small screwdriver can release the tab that holds the wire harness in place. The plug then slides right out, and easily into the new keypad.

After cleaning the opening in the door, I slid the new one into place and popped it right in. The metal clips hold it firmly in place, good as new.
