northernone
Does anyone know how the electric park brake works on the new edge. Does it have cables anymore or does it use the hydraulic control unit to apply the brakes for parking?
MJB3
I do not know for sure but, if you have your foot on the brake pedal when you activate the parking brake, you can feel the pedal drop in conjunction with the activation of the parking brake. Seems indicative of some hydraulic action.
northernone
Just did some reading online. It says it uses electric motors at the rear calipers to apply the brake pads. It also says that back yard mechanics can't just replace brake pads anymore because you need a computer to reset the motors. Not sure if I believe what I read about changing brake pads yourself but I guess we will find out soon enough.
