YNOT
Let me preface this with the fact that I'm a huge FORD fan. I have owned over 1/2 a dozen Fords now and I have been pretty happy with them all. However...this 2012 Ford Edge Sport - not happy. With all of the Ford's I've owned over the years, I've always looked at the Sport editions and thought to myself, "someday maybe I can afford one of them.". But financially, all we could afford were the lower end models all the time, which was fine with us. A new car is a new car right? Well, back in 2012, my wife was in need of a new car. Since we didn't have a second car payment at the time, we decided to spend a little more and really get a "nice" Ford for a change, not just a lower end model. Apparently, they only put the quality in their lower end models as this Sport and been nothing but trouble since the beginning. It all started with continuous SYNC issues. Our Edge had been in close to a dozen times within the first year for SYNC issues alone. As expected, Ford said it was Apple's issue and Apple said it was Ford's issue. So there never was any real resolution. They replaced the system several times, reset it numerous times and to no avail. After beating a dead horse to death, we just don't use the SYNC and problem solved. Paid a lot of money for this fancy feature and it's useless. But it beats having it in the shop every few weeks for nothing positive to come of it. Had it in for an alignment 3 different times and it still pulled to the right. Had to take it to a professional tire shop and "pay" for the alignment just to get it right. I understand that's the dealership and not FORD, but frustrating no less when something so simple can't even be handled by one of the largest dealerships in the St. Louis area. This car also had shifting issues and after some research, took it in to have the computer reset. Luckily that problem was an easy fix for the dealership. The key fobs are constantly failing and once you finally can get in the car and start it, then the notice comes up saying the key is not present. According to the dealer, there are sensors that have to be cleaned periodically. Ugh. What a pain. Throw in the fact that overall, some of the body panels don't even line up nicely and I'd say for the $40k price tag, this car is SO not worth it. My used 2008 Fusion puts this car to shame from a quality standpoint. And our 2001 GT Mustang hasn't even been in the shop as much as this 2012 model...and it's 14 years old! So for anyone considering a Ford Edge "Sport" I'd highly suggest a Fusion or a Focus. Apparently Ford only puts quality into their lower end vehicles. Just my .02¢ for anyone considering a Ford Edge Sport.
