Aftermarket Navigation with Sync and Sirius...

Recommended Posts

I want to add a Pioneer Avic Z2 Navigation unit to our new Edge. Since it has the Ford Sirius and Sync, I am reluctant to do so. I don't mind having to buy the Sirius module for the Pioneer unit, but I don't want to lose Sync. Is there any way to do this? Also, will I lose the use of the steering wheel audio controls?

I have a Z2 in my EDGE.but I dont have SYNC.. I dont think that you can keep the SYNC and upgrade the nav..BUT you can buy a module that will allow you to make the steering wheel controls work.

The Z2 itself has some voice support built in. You do lose the SYNC product, which from my limited exposure to the two so far, may be a bit friendlier system (but I am still learning the ins and outs with the Z2). As for the steering wheel controls, I have yet to find a product that will just plug in to allow use of all of them, but the PAC SWI PS does hook up several of them.

You can see my post asking about steering wheel controls in this forum for a bit more detail of my other current issues with the same substitute you are looking at.
