MICTIP
I would like to replace my white door handles with OEM chrome ones; not the stick-on type but original ones. Has anyone done it and is there a video out there showing such?
MICTIP
I bought 4 Chrome exterior handles from PT Auto Warehouse and tried to install them but they were 3/4" too short. Found them on Amazon and they are actual metal (aluminum or cast metal) but as I said they were too short. Also - when I installed one the spring that is part of the 'Door Handle Reinforcement' assembly (PN26684) was pushed out of its seating. Of course without a spring there is no way the door handle worked. So I had a mechanic work on it for 1 1/2 hours (since its not directly accessible) and it is now fixed. The video that shows how to replace an exterior door handle does not indicate that this could occur so be VERY careful when removing the old one; take a flashlight/penlight after you remove it and make sure the metal latch is sitting in there vertically before you slip the new door handle in or it will dislodge the spring and I would suggest you order a new 'door handle reinforcement assembly' and install it; it will take about the same time but the tension on the spring will be to factory specs.
