gball
My wife has a 2015 edge with push button start on dash we have had for a couple months now. I wanted to get her a remote starter for christmas. After hours of searching online and trying to get answers from multiple dealers before buying anything, i really still don't have a clue what to do here. I have installed a few starters in the past including one on her old saturn vue with the factory security ignition so i kinda know what i'm doing. What i have been told and did finally get her is two separate boxes. Part #'s EL3Z-19G364-B ''IVU & TRANSMITTER KIT'' and FT4Z-19A361-A ''BASE SECURITY KIT''. Anyone know if this the right stuff first off and secondly does anyone have instructions on installing? Boxes say to go to a web site for instructions but apparently it is for dealers only. All the info i have been able to search are for older models.
Zman31
Go to fordparts.com, enter your VIN, open Electronics and Telematics, then Electronic Accessories, the page should give you available accessories for your vehicle. The wiring, module, antenna and key fobs are listed here. They don't give you a price on the fobs, I've found them online for $100 new (not from Ford) But even if you install yourself, I think you have to have the dealer program the systems and new fobs. I've posted about this also, I just want to get some insight on how it would work. There's a video on the Ford owners site that's has me wanting this feature, I just want to know what to expect as far as function. I'm estimating this is a $500-600 price tag, don't mind putting out that money if it's going function like the factory unit.
Zman31
I apologize, I answered your post in error, but searching the part #'s you listed, I would check with Levittown Ford on the forum to confirm you have the correct parts (I believe you do) I have a 2015 Edge Titanium (push button start) and want to add remote start, saying that the I've been researching further on this and can say that what I wanted was to install this system and be able to buy the OEM fobs with the engine start button to replace the fobs I currently have. I have IA (intelligent access) also with the perimeter alarm, I'm not sure if I have to install the security system or not with the remote start module, but I can say that I cannot use the OEM fobs with the engine start button (confirmed by Ford Remote start Tech Support), I would have to use the fobs that come with the remote start system and carry two fobs that I didn't want to have to do. Since you have the parts and if you want to give it a try look on you-tube and search 2015 Edge remote and you will find a video from Price Ford on a F-150 install, wouldn't be too much different on the Edge, you can gain access behind the glove box by simply by squeezing the tabs past the stops. the T-harness install (that they do not show) is simple enough, just unplug the vehicle harness form OBD connector and plug in the T-harness and run the plugs over to the glove box area. The rest is shown in the video but still requires a trip to the dealer to have them activate the remote start on the ECM. Hope this helps a little, I am now looking at the Remote Access System (smart phone remote start) although it would require a yearly fee I really hate the idea of carrying two key fobs around, maybe in the future the systems will allow for the OEM fobs to be programed but I'm not counting on it.
