Speakers in my Edge have blown out 2x in the past 3 months and I am sick of dealing with Point Pleasant Ford (in NJ). So I bought some new speakers for my Edge SEL AWD. Infinity Kappa's! Started to take off the door panels, removed everything I knew would be there but then I hit a wall. I thought I was finished and could simply pull the panel off, but it was rather hard. It seems as if something in the dead center, close to the "armrest" is holding it in. After a little while, I put it all back together because I didn't want to break anything too early in the game. It was also frigid out that day. I am positive everything else was out of the way - the handle, the door lock knob thing, it is over the window sill, all the clips were removed....the whole 9 yards. Ah thank you very much, I wasn't sure where it was coming from but now I can finally put my beauties in! Other than that one screw, it was very easy to dismantle. Thanks a bunch! In response to the previous post, it was not the subwoofer that blew. I brought it to the stealership and they said the right side did sound a little off. So they told me they wanted to keep the truck for "further diagnostics." WOW! So they ended up keeping my truck a total of 5 days just to replace the passenger side speakers. I got it back and then the next day, my front driver just started buzzing, hardly any sound. Until now, I have just balanced most of the sound out to the other speakers. I can't wait to mate my new speakers to the Kenwood Exceclon KVT 817DVD player I just installed! I don't know what I am more excited about, installing the new speakers or removing the old ones! By the way, if anyone wants pictures of what a flip out single DIN DVD player looks like in the dash, I will gladly post pictures. It is actually very easy to install. If the speakers are blowing for two times, both of them there is a chance that something is causing it, not just defective speakers, as there is very rare that two speakers may be defective in a row, in your shoes I would make the head-unit checked as well, if for some reason the head-unit is defective, you will blow again the Infinity ones, being more sensitive, and lower in impedance are more prone to go... I am trying to replace the door lock actuator and cant get this panel off. I have removed every fasterner I can find......appreciate the help. Someone else just posted a tutorial with pics that would have been helpful. If you don't use my video just don't remove the TORX screw on the side all the way and don't tighten the bolts holding the black inner panel on more than finger tight.
