Dutch 66
Hello everybody. Had an issue with our 2017 Ford Edge, it had power and all was working but when hitting the start button you could hear solenoids click but the engine did not turn. Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and it started up fine. Does anybody know what that is related to and if this will become a re-occurring issue? BTW the day before this the tail gate would not close with the button on the dash or the key fob or the button in the back of the Edge, closed it by hand, can that be related? MLTEdge
Two things come to mind, if new battery, was a reset done? Second, if older battery, could be as simple as bad battery terminal connection such as loose or corrosion. possibly even loose wire. Removing connectors and retightening may have fixed it, but I'd consider pulling again, inspect wire ends, clean posts and terminals real good, and put back together. Besides baking soda or official battery cleaner, use a battery terminal/connector brush. Inexpensive and available most anywhere.
Dutch 66
Thank you for responding. I will replace the battery and inspect the wires. What do you mean by a reset placing a new battery?

What do you mean by a reset placing a new battery? Not sure about your year model, but most newer vehicles have, and need the 'BMS" reset when replacing a battery. Basically it a small computer board or chip that monitors battery. Just take your car to an AutoZone or similar shop and they will check your current battery for free before you spend the money. If you buy a new one from them they should be able to determine if you have a BMS and if it needs resetting.
