I wax the wheels to retain their black appearance but then, the gray-brown dirt behind it shows through. Get a scrunge, using the rough side, go inside the wheel and clean as much of the inner surface as possible. It may take a few cleanings but eventually, the background will be less noticeable and allow your shinny wheels to shine through.
