Driveshaft Center Bearing Replacement

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have a 2007 SEL, I have tried searching the forums for this but have found nothing new or that answers my question.

Here is my issue. The rubber around the center bearings is shot.  I have found new hanger bearings online but have seen mixed signals in regards to replacing them. Some sites have said you can and others have said that all 3 driveshaft pieces are staked together and that you have to replace the complete unit. Does anyone have any first hand experience in replacing the bearings or is it a fact that the driveshaft has to be replaced.

Thanks

I have the same problem (2 piece driveshaft) and just removed the old one with a 4” grinder, Dremel grinder, chisel and hammer. A little work but really not hard to do. The hard part was separating the shaft. Use DB Blaster and let sit. I used a come along with some love taps and it came apart. I just purchased a new bearing on Amazon and in the process of figuring out which side gets pressed on.
