431 Steve
Wife's car started squeaking from left front wheel, over bumps and when steering. Front suspension seems nice and tight, lubed the control arm bushings, upper strut mounts, and the links between the upper and lower control arms. The noise went away for about 100km, now it's back with a vengeance. I fear it's the rack and pinion assembly... It has 125000 well maintained kilometers on it, what else might be to blame? kruzr1
Might take a look at the sway bar links and also the strut mounts. Disregard, didn't realize you mentioned this already. Must've been half asleep. Edited March 6 by kruzr1
431 Steve
So, I went ahead and replaced the swaybar end links, and because I'm a glutton for punishment, I did the swaybar mount bushings as well... Things I learned today: 1. the bushings were definitely the culprit. 2. That is NOT a job to be done with a jack and a couple of jack-stands. The left side was a pain in the a**. The right side took almost 2 hours to do. I think a Ford shop would probably pull the motor to do those, there's only about 3/8" clearance between the bracket and the steering rack. Wouldn't recommend
