enigma-2
Getting confused with all of this. Ok, they worked during the tape on test. Then, after you reset to system they are no longer recognized. Almost seems as if the module is no longer programmed for the two side sensors. Other than that, something went wrong with the harness you made. 1
Wubster100
Yes, that’s exactly it. Taped on all 8 new sensors. Everything worked. Next, I installed the 6 sensors in the front, and everything worked. Now, I am trying to figure out what the problem is with these last 2 sensors. Wubster100
The only possible issues I found was some corrosion in the rear bumper connector, so I avoided the corrosion by moving the parking sensors up into trunk. I don’t see any hardware issues with the wiring or parking sensors, so maybe there is some kind of software problem.
Wubster100
One good observation: The vehicle looks to be already wired for the trailer tow module.

Wubster100
Last night I upgraded the rear wheel speed sensors with the bi-directional ones. I parked a car on the street to test. My neighbors must have thought that I was the worst driver ever. I drove past the car about 30 times. I am going to have to replace the front side parking sensors with the correct long range ones. Sometimes I would get false detections of parking spots. The system had a difficult time measuring the parking spot. Sometimes it would detect the space, but then it gave up and never told me to shift into reverse. Sometimes it got way too close where the front tire was going to hit the car. However, after many trials, I got a few good results. I got to experience active park assist. It was nice that I could shift between reverse and drive any time so that the system would make its next move. I also tried park out assist and it worked well. Next: 1. An ABS module replacement is not required. We do not need to upgrade to CADS3. 2. Long range parking sensors are required to accurately detect parking spaces. Standard “HU5T-15K859” sensors will work as a parking aid, but they don’t measure parking spaces well. Wubster100
I got the long range sensor, and placed it on the passenger side. Comparing it to the standard parking sensor, it is a little bit thicker. However, the plug on it has a slightly different key than the other sensors. I first tested it by temporarily taping it to the car. With this correct sensor, active park assist is working perfectly! In order to plug in the sensor, I had to remove the plastic key so that it would fit.
mlncn_4
@Wubster100 I have to say that I am thrilled by the work you've done! But I wanna ask you a few questions if you don't mind: 1- I have an '18 Edge Titanium 2.0L, so I suppose the same exact steps would work with my vehicle right? 2- If I was interested in installing the four front park sensors only (without the other 4 side sensors and the whole Active Park Assist thing), will it work 100%? I mean no Edge ever came with just front sensors; they came with rear sensors w/back up camera, or front & rear sensors & cameras, or no sensors at all. 3- Speaking of cameras, you haven't installed front camera, so are you planning to install it later? 4- How did you know where to exactly and accurately drill the holes for the sensors? Wubster100
Welcome to the forum @mlncn_4! 1. It will be a very similar process. The parking sensor part numbers should be different than 2019-2024. 2. Your only options are: A. 4 rear sensors, B. 4 rear + 4 front sensors, or C. 4 rear, 4 front, and 4 autopark sensors. If parking sensors are missing or have problems, then the entire park aid will get disabled. 3. I haven't installed the front camera yet. It will be installed later. I had to return the camera I got and ordered a new one. 4. The interior of the bumper has rectangular marks with a circle inside them (Thanks Ford). That is where the factory parking sensor retainers get plastic welded to. I was able to glue on all 8 with one tube of J-B Weld plastic glue. It doesn't look like Ford produces parking sensor retainers as a part. Salvaged ones online were too expensive, so I went with aftermarket ones that worked well. Make sure that the parking sensors will point in the correct direction. If you look closely, you can see the markings in the lower front bumper cover. So I can go with option B without any problems whatsoever, right? And the markings are for all the sensors or just the inner 2 ones?

My vehicle had markings for all of the parking sensors. Search online for photos of your bumpers to see if they have the marks. Do you already have rear sensors? Yep, I do, with rear view camera
