Brockdog12
Try and follow this and understand if you can, just this week I have noticed on my 22 SEL, 31,000 miles, that when going through a lengthy left curve in a road at 40-45mph, the steering will want to stick left like it is wanting to lock and you have to pull the wheel back right as you're going to the curve in the road. You can feel it in the steering wheel when it happens, like it is catching, its not tire related. Very odd. Steering response is perfect otherwise. I have an oil change interval coming up and will have Ford put it on the rack to look it over, but they can never find anything I have an issue with. Thanks!
Wubster100
Do you have lane keep on? Do you see any lane keep indicators in the instrument cluster when it happens?
Brockdog12
No, I turn all that stuff off if activated. Thanks!
Brockdog12
Took the Edge to the dealer last evening, they gave me a loaner Bronco Sport to drive, 51 miles on it, pretty sweet Outer Banks, way more loaded than the Outer Banks I use to own. Anyway, we'll see what they say about the steering issue when they get it tested.
Brockdog12
Dealer telling me there are voltage issues that could possibly be causing the steering issue, I had to go to the dealer and drive it with the service advisor yesterday, it did it for him. Tech said it was pulling left really bad also, I let go of the wheel 3 times with the service advisor in the vehicle, it never left the lane or wanted too. They drove it again after I left and said it was pulling left, could be related to the catching sensation in the wheel when going through a left curve in the road. See what happens when they reset the BMS and anything else electronic today.
Samurai Edge
When was the last time the car had a proper alignment and the steering and suspension were checked for damage?
Brockdog12
Got a call from the dealer this morning, they looked everything over again this morning and are going to replace the rack unit. He said the tech found something, but didn't elaborate on what. I had the tires replaced in January and the front end and alignment was all checked then and nothing found. I don't know, as long as its fixed when I get it back. I did buy this with 3700 miles on it, it was a dealer loaner vehicle. UPDATE: Part made it in two days ago, now back in the shop after sitting on the back lot for a week, hopefully get it back this weekend...repaired. Brockdog12
Got the Edge back Saturday. Feels like brand new-ish again. Steering is 100% better. They replaced the rack unit and associated parts. I did see in their notes they said the steering shaft was loose at the rack unit, hmm, yeah that's possible given the symptoms I experienced. We'll see how things go, but so far so good, problem gone.
