[2019] B&O setup - speaker 3 and 4 locations

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. This is my first post here as I usually to search in first place.
I'm from Poland and I have imported 2019 Titanium with B&O sound system. Unfortunately american ACM doesn't have the DAB, full RDS and so on. As there's no european ACM with A2B interface for Edge, I had to figure something out. I found out that I could get Kuga (european name for Escape), Explorer ACM, make plugs adapter and after proper configuration everything should work. And generally it works, I think all of the speakers are working fine but I get two DTC's for the ACM module: B1A03:13 and B1A04:13 which indicate open circuit for speakers 3 and 4. I tried to find a location of those speakers so I could modify my configuration a little but I failed. "walkaround" test isn't helpful because the speakers change quickly and I can't recognize which speaker plays at the moment.
I have the workshop manual but seems like it doesn't have the pinpoint tests for speakers.

Anyone could share the info what are the speakers 3 and 4?

@enigma-2 thank you, appreciate that. I'm not sure if that's correct according to the DTC errors. When I disconnected Front Right and Front Left terminals, I lost tweeters and additional errors for speakers 10 and 9 appeared.

Generally, the problem is solved. Checked ACM Asbuilt DB again and tried to play with Forscan. It turned out that I had set Tweeter and Speaker for Speaker 3 and Speaker 4. When I changed both to no speaker, I lost sound from front tweeters even though the wires were connected. But the errors disappeared. Then I changed to Tweeter only and I regained tweeter sound and no errors.
Therefore Speaker 4 and Speaker 3 have to be the midrange speakers in the front doors which are drived by DSP in my case.

I bought Kuga MK3 ACM, JX71-18K810-ZR. Take into account that you will need to modify the chasis as the mounting brackets don’t fit. I used threaded rivets to achieve this. I also exchanged the antenna amplifier because there’s no such pin in the new ACM. JX7T-18C847-AB (from Focus MK4) fitted quite well. Another thing is that GPS antena has a splitter near the passengers glove box. Then there are two wires ended with Fakra plugs - 1st goes into the ACM (it’s for the satellite radio) and the 2nd goes into the APIM. If you leave it like that, you won’t have GPS signal in your APIM (antenna is powered from the one wire only - that one which is for the ACM). Therefore you need either to remove the splitter or to make an adapter from yellow fakra to blue fakra (I did it this way). And obviously you need to make an adapter for the ACM main plugs as they are much different + coding.
