TexEdge2015
I have a 2015 Ford Edge that is experiencing regular liftage malfunctions. The normal pattern is that the power liftgate opens and shuts as it should if the vehicle has been off for 30+ minutes for one cycle. If you try to open the liftgate again after one cycle of normal operation it either "shrugs" and does not open or it does not respond at all. I recently purchased and installed a used RGTM to see if this would fix the issue, but the same pattern continues. There are numerous RGTM DTC codes (listed below); most of them are related to open or short circuits. I am thinking there is an issue with the wiring harness but was hoping for some advice before proceeding any further with attempting to diagnose the issue. ===RGTM DTC B1306:12-08=== Code: B1306 - Liftgate Ajar Switch Additional Fault Symptom (:12): - Circuit Short To Battery Status (-08): - Previously Set DTC - Not Present at Time of Request - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC Module: Rear Gate/Trunk Module ===END RGTM DTC B1306:12-08=== ===RGTM DTC B144D:29-08=== Code: B144D - Tailgate/Liftgate/Boot/Trunk Position Sensor 2 Additional Fault Symptom (:29): - Signal Invalid Status (-08): - Previously Set DTC - Not Present at Time of Request - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC Module: Rear Gate/Trunk Module ===END RGTM DTC B144D:29-08=== ===RGTM DTC B1452:13-08=== Code: B1452 - Tailgate/Liftgate/Boot/Trunk Latch Release Actuator Additional Fault Symptom (:13): - Circuit Open Status (-08): - Previously Set DTC - Not Present at Time of Request - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC Module: Rear Gate/Trunk Module ===END RGTM DTC B1452:13-08=== ===RGTM DTC B1454:13-08=== Code: B1454 - Tailgate/Liftgate/Boot/Trunk Left Pinch Strip Additional Fault Symptom (:13): - Circuit Open Status (-08): - Previously Set DTC - Not Present at Time of Request - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC Module: Rear Gate/Trunk Module ===END RGTM DTC B1454:13-08=== ===RGTM DTC B1455:11-08=== Code: B1455 - Tailgate/Liftgate/Boot/Trunk Right Pinch Strip Additional Fault Symptom (:11): - Circuit Short To Ground Status (-08): - Previously Set DTC - Not Present at Time of Request - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC Module: Rear Gate/Trunk Module ===END RGTM DTC B1455:11-08=== ===RGTM DTC B1455:13-08=== Code: B1455 - Tailgate/Liftgate/Boot/Trunk Right Pinch Strip Additional Fault Symptom (:13): - Circuit Open Status (-08): - Previously Set DTC - Not Present at Time of Request - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC Module: Rear Gate/Trunk Module ===END RGTM DTC B1455:13-08=== ===RGTM DTC B1A59:13-08=== Code: B1A59 - Sensor 5 Volt Supply Additional Fault Symptom (:13): - Circuit Open Status (-08): - Previously Set DTC - Not Present at Time of Request - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC Module: Rear Gate/Trunk Module ===END RGTM DTC B1A59:13-08=== ===RGTM DTC U0101:87-08=== Code: U0101 - Lost Communication with TCM Additional Fault Symptom (:87): - Missing Message Status (-08): - Previously Set DTC - Not Present at Time of Request - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC Module: Rear Gate/Trunk Module ===END RGTM DTC U0101:87-08=== ===RGTM DTC U3003:16-08=== Code: U3003 - Battery Voltage Additional Fault Symptom (:16): - Circuit Voltage Below Threshold Status (-08): - Previously Set DTC - Not Present at Time of Request - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC Module: Rear Gate/Trunk Module ===END RGTM DTC U3003:16-08===
omar302
All the codes show "Previously Set DTC - Not Present at Time of Request" making me think they came after you disconnected the module. Did you try to clear codes? If yes, do they come after that one cycle?

Did you try to clear codes? If yes, do they come after that one cycle? I just cleared the codes and ran several RGTM self tests. I am receiving no DTCs during a normal operating cycle or on a cycle when I am getting no action from the liftgate at all, which is the most common pattern after the first normal cycle. When the liftgate "shrugs" I am getting the below DTC: Code: B1515 - Tailgate/Liftgate/Boot/Trunk Additional Fault Symptom: - Commanded Position Not Reachable I also performed 6 RGTM reboots and the liftgate operated normally after 4 of the reboots and "shrugged' after the other 2. I at least got some sort of response from the liftgate immediately after rebooting the RGTM.

But I'd guess it is either the motor itself is weak or the lift strut is not helping enough.
