31bullitt16
1st thx for the add. We recently picked up a nice ‘13 SEL that I would like to add rs to. I’ve looked thru some older post about doing this unfortunately the various links mentioned are old and doa plus they tend to be a hodgepodge of info that aren’t specific to our Edge, like power liftgate, but I could have missed it too. One of the posters mentioned all the parts are already there on a ‘13, there wasn’t a confirmation if that’s true or not in any replies, is it true? If so, what’s needed besides enabling rs in Forscan? If not, what are the options to add rs with power liftgate and what parts are needed? TIA! dabangsta
Your SEL has the IKT (the key start, key has the remote fob on the head). There are aftermarket remote starts that are easy to add that use the factory key (usually lock/unlock/lock sequence). You have to have 2 already programmed keys to successfully use the aftermarket kits.
Oldandintheway
Look up Start-X, I installed one on my 2015 Escape, it was easy. Press the lock button 3 times to start.
31bullitt16 Posted yesterday at 01:47 AM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 01:47 AM Thx for the replies. I looked at some aftermarket kits but too many seem to cause codes to pop up or some random issues that get fixed when the RS kit is removed. I'd like to stick with a factory RS to avoid any issues. While doing some more research a link to a post on here from 2013 showed up, one I didn't see before. From that post: "it appears that 2013 Edges with power liftgate have everything except the key fobs and programming already installed in the vehicle from the factory. The kit DA8Z-19G364-A consists of nothing but two key fobs. On the other hand, models without the power liftgate apparently don't have the requisite additional equipment and so require the BC3Z-19G364-A kit which includes the antenna, coax cable and two key fobs." The post had a link to a PDF that listed what was needed for what yr unfortunately it's DOA. It looks like the liftgate needs a 5 button remote, the 5th for the RS and no liftgate needs a 4 button. Also in that thread the OP had a '12 that required the antenna for it to work and his did have the power liftgate. At some point Ford changed how they were built apparently, from TPMS to OBD. Mine should be TPMS based on build date. With that I decide to get 2 new 5 button CCP keys for $25 and a hood switch for $28 from Ford all off of feebay and see if I get lucky and don't need the antenna. If I do they can be had for $30-50 from a dealer. Next question, the IDS module programming, can that be done with Forscan?
dabangsta
I love the MPC remote start in my 2015 Fusion. I have never seen these be an issue, other than the older ones and using lock/lock/lock makes the horn honk. I hope you find your way back after it all and post what works for you. The range for those keys/fobs isn't great, it is another limitation that either of these solutions (new IKT with 5 buttons, or aftermarket add on without including longer distance fobs (which they offer)) solve. Mine can't always work through all the walls to the garage, or to the parking spot on the road.
