Steve JC
I just had the transmission replaced and now I can be driving and the feedback feel in the steering wheel suddenly disappears. It's just like it totally disconnected with no resistance felt. So far this has only lasted for a second and I really don't know if steering capability is actually still there. Rather unnerving to think this might actually disconnect somehow. Since the subframe was dropped for the transmission work I'm wondering if a wiring connector or pinched wire might be causing this. No visual audible alarms of any kind.
Samurai Edge
First thing to do is go back to the dealer and ask them what did they do to your car to lose steering like that? I have heard of this before but II can't remember the actual cause. Given everything that had to do to replace the transmission, there may be loose steering components they forgot to completely re-tighten.
