Compass issue?

Recommended Posts

2016 MKZ, I first mounted under the speaker cover, where the Edge cubby is, but moved it to the top of my cluster because it rattled. Both locations it worked after a few minutes of driving around. It was a cheapo that came with the kit I ordered, i don't know the source other than China along with everything else.

I don't use factory SYNC 3 navigation I use Android Auto and Apple Carplay, but the indication on the dash is consistent and correct. Android Auto doesn't always know which way my vehicle is pointed at the start of navigation until move but I think it is using the phone compass and GPS at that point.

Thanks, I've heard the stock location is on top of the cluster, I wonder if it really is that.  How would I remove the cluster shroud to do that?  I don't use the SYNC 3 nav either I use CarPlay but even this compass issue is affecting that as it shows me going the wrong way, then recalculates, it's a pain.
