2010 mkx with sync 1 - wont display the time

2010 mkx with satellite and gps, sync 1 with voice.

 

i unhooked the battery for a while today and now the clock just displays -- : --, and the settings are all greyed out.   i disabled the default mode sync to gps and it still wont let me set the time.

 

i havnt had gps working in years, it just says no signal.  but i checked the diagnostic menu and it also shows that my sdar (satellite radio) has 00 strength.    im thinking im in some kind of soft lock where the head units is defaulting to needing gps signal for time sync, but since it cant get that, i cant set the time.

 

which brings me to my main question...

 

where the hell is the satellite/gps antenna in these things?   i have some places saying the front roof antenna is also the gps, others say the rear puck antenna is the sat/gps antenna, and other others saying the rear puck is sat, and the gps antenna is under the dash.

Both are located in the shark fin rear antenna.

i didnt see anything in it about the clock, but its pretty self explanatory.   its displays no time and the clock settings are locked out right now.

 

i knew i had no gps signal, and i just confirmed i have no sirius signal either.

 

but i also dont have a shark fin on this year, its the little oval puck.

 

like i said, i think i may be soft locked out of it at the moment. i went ahead and pulled the battery cable again. well see what happens this evening.
