Instrument panel question

Picked up 2009 Edge on Saturday. Love the car but a question. Should the instrument panel, ie speedometer, gas gauge etc. illuminate during daytime driving or do I have to turn on the headlights to get them to illuminate? The gauges were kind of hard to read during daytime driving and I was wondering if their working correctly. Thanks!

Typically, the instrument panel will not be lit during daytime driving. If you have your headlights set to "auto", then if the conditions warrant, for example if it's cloudy, then your headlights and instrument panel will be lit.

Thanks for the quick reply! Nice to know that I don't have a problem. I think I might try driving with the parking lights on during the day to see if that helps with speedometer visibilty. I noticed you have the illuminating door sills. How do you like them and were you able to install them yourself? I was thinking about getting them also. Thanks again for the quick reply.

I really like them. I've had a lot of positive comments about them as well. They were very easy to install. Toughest part was getting the old sills off. The directions that came with them were very easy to follow and complete.
