Love my Edge but....

Hi all!

I'm new to the forum and trying to see if anyone else has had this experience! I LOVE my new (2007 - new to me!) Ford Edge BUT over the weekend the Vista Roof (which I love) stopped working properly. It comes to about 5 inches to close and just stops. No motor, no movement, just stops. In the same exact position everytime I try to close it. It opens just fine, just won't close. The interior shade opens in short spurts but closes fine.

The dealer can't figure out whats wrong ($$) and said they'd need to remove the headliner.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, what was the fix and more importantly what did you pay to get it fixed.

Thanks!!!

I read on the forum that someone has a similar issue and was resolved when the dealer lubricated the moving parts. I'd hope the dealer would've checked the lube before suggesting to take it apart. Good Luck

I had a very similar issue with a 2009 loaner from the dealer while my 2008 was in (again) for them to look at the lift gate problem. It would get stuck in various positions and I'd have to get my husband to pull it the rest of the way closed while I pushed the switch. The shades didn't work at all. I can't be much help though because they just swapped it out with 2010 loaner so I don't know if or how they resolved it.

They did check that but no luck. We ended up calling Ford customer service and they worked with us and the dealership. Both motors in the Vista window were replaced as well as a harness. Ford ended up covering the cost even though we had no extended warranty. We just paid the $400 labor charge. This is why I LOVE Ford and will always buy a Ford product. They stood behind their product and did the right thing. I'm a very happy and loyal Ford customer.
