2011 - AWD vs FWD?

I am considering a 2011 Sport and would appreciate feedback on AWD vs. FWD. I live in Southern California so weather concerns are minimal. My "challenge" is that AWD Sports are hard to find (would likely need to be ordered) so I cannot do a back-to-back test drive comparison. Does the vehicle have too much torque, for example, for FWD? Thank you in advance for your help.

I actually drove them back to back and it wasnt much difference at all. BUT, we need at least one AWD vehicle in the household since I NEED to get to work no matter the weather. I may only need the AWD once or twice a winter but the trade off for MPGs was minimal enough that I could justify it. Youll be happy with the FWD Sport in SoCal
