NEW2EDGE Posted May 2, 2011 Report Share Posted May 2, 2011 Recently I added an electric winch that I can easily attached and remove from my 2008 Edge. My Edge came with the factory tow package and I modified a tow bar by welding a mounting bracket to it that allows the winch to be bolted on. Granted I can't use this set up for any serious extraction or as an aid for off roading. That isn't my intention. To date I have used it to date to pull a dock out of the water and to move some fallen (small) trees off the road blocking my way. The winch is rated for 2000lbs and I am careful to make sure I don't move anything more than 1000lbs pull weight. I kept it simple, for power for the winch I bring a deep cycle battery along so that I don't need to mess with the Edge wiring.
