How to remove rear spoiler to replace Sirius / GPS antenna

*** UPDATE *** I have posted an update at the bottom, after my original post...

----------------------------------------------------------------------

My Sirius radio / navigation recently stopped working. The error code indicated it was a faulty antenna.

I've received a new antenna from my local Ford dealer, and I have verified the new antenna solves the issue by removing the headliner and plugging in the new antenna. (2010 and later models have an integrated GPS and Sirius satellite antenna.)

Here is my problem. I need to get into the rear spoiler in order to unscrew the antenna mount, remove it, replace it with the new one, and reassemble it all.

I've gotten the trim pieces out, I can find 5 total bolts to undo, but something is holding the wing tightly. I can't tell if it's clips or something else.

If anyone has any clue or suggestion, I'd be grateful.

With some persistence, and not worrying about breaking anything, I managed to get the wing off to change my GPS/Sirius antenna.

Once I removed all the interfering inside trim on the liftgate, and removed some rubber plugs, and released the 5 nuts that were holding the wing onto the Edge, I merely had to forcefully push up (while the liftgate is closed) on the spoiler and get it to release the 5 or 6 white plastic clips that were holding it on. Thankfully, I didn't damage any of the clips - I can reuse them.

Once the wing was off, I was able to replace the antenna. If you have a decent amount of intuition and a knack for mechanical items, it's easy. Undo the antenna and wiring, and replace it in reverse order.

Now that I've done this, I feel like I can answer any questions others might have about the rear wing. I've left a few details out in my description, such as the rear washer fluid tubing and brake lamp assembly wiring. If you want the full details, drop me a note.

I drive a 2010 Ford 2010 Edge Limited AWD, and it looks as though I need to replace the GPS antenna.

Though, unlike yourself, I don't even know where to begin removing trim on the liftgate. Could you give me any info as to how I might go about this?

Best regards,

Kres.
