Lilmomma101
Has anyone had an accident in their edge? Insurance company says it's titled at $12,000 worth of damage, but it's only suspension damage...
Mazz
Does not matter where the damage is. If the repair estimate exceeds a certain percentage of the value of the vehicle, it's considered totaled. You may be able to opt not to have the insurance company total it, but you'll have to pay for the repairs yourself, and most likely document to the insurance company that the repairs were made, in order to continue your policy. I say "may" because it depends on the terms of you policy.
ablb
It’s MUCH easer and CHEAPER for the insurance co to write you a check for $11500 than fix it. After all IT IS THEIR MONEY!!! We can't believe this; you actually want SOME of it back. I fell for the “it’s totaled” once… NOT GOING TO DO THAT AGAIN! I ended up with a POS buzz bomb. $11500 will make a nice down payment, unless you owe that much OR MORE on your Edge. A friend took the money, bought the car from the insurance co for a few hundred $’s, then had it repaired. He ended up with a nice car with a reconditioned title. He still has it, it’s a 90 civic (the accident was in 95) with 300K+ miles. ab
