Ford Edge 2008 / Poor heater performance

I'm having a problem with my heating system on my ford Edge 2008, when I visited my local dealership on Monday, He told me that my issue could be related to a bad heater core.

I'm getting a little bit of warm air from the driver side vents and cool air from the passenger side. It appears this heater core issue is currently being investigated by the Ford engineering department.

I'm kind of disappointed that eventually I will be required to see a major tear down of my instrument panel to get this heater core replaced especially when you know that the vehicle is almost brand new.

Do you know if there is any other option being considered to avoid a heater core replacement ?

Is the core clogged due to a mechanical failure or simply by an unwanted chemical reaction ?

I have basically the same problem with my 2008 Ford Edge, which is very poor heating on driver's side especially.

I bought my new Ford Edge in August of 2008. Very happy with everything then including great air conditioning. This winter I've noticed the driver's side 2 vents hardly produce any warm air no matter how high I set it. The passenger's side is fine. When i'm driving the driver's vents send a bit of warm air but at idle it's almost a cool breeze, yet the passenger side never changes .. always constant warmth. I'm thinking it could be the thermostat .. almost makes me think the Ford Edge has 2 of them??? I would appreciate any help in this matter ..thanks

Bringing my Ford Edge 2008 to my local dealership next week, it appears that no TSB is currently available for this low heat issue except a message on the Ford Oasis system. When searching on the WEB, I have noticed quite a few complaints similar to mine.

If someone from Ford is on this forum, let's hope that he can provide more details about this problem.

We had our heater core replaced. Same problem. 1st they thought it was an actuator motor, but then they ended up having to do the heater core. 2 day repair. According to the guy I see at the dealer, Ford knows about the problem.. If the mechanic doesnt accidently switch the C252 and C222 plugs under the dash, it should go well. If not , 6 more days of guess work!

Im sure its a restricted heater core. The problem is that the flux when the heater core was made is flaking apart in the core and stopping it up. The core is very thin. I have put a heater core in a edge for the same concern. Its a fairly big job, but its not that bad.

The heater core I put in is only real problem we have seen with the edge. Its been a trouble free vehicle around my area.

I hope you get it fixed with out and problems.

Good Luck

I took my 2008 Ford Edge with 4000KM on it to the local dealer on Monday. The service manager at my local Ford Dealership did some checking on the computer and said it was the heater core. He checked stock on availability of a heater core and said bring it in tomorrow Tuesday, but it may take 2 days to do the work. I asked about a loaner (since it is my only vehicle) and he said sure.

My Edge was ready before lunch on Wednesday (1 1/2 days). They even washed it as well as cleaning the inside.

I can almost fry an egg in it now it gets so hot :-)

Hats off to my local Ford Dealer and staff in Niagara ON Canada

Also took my 2008 Ford Edge Limited to my local dealer on Tuesday. As expected the heater core was replaced and I can tell you that I don't remember to own a car that gets so warm in the winter.

My local dealer has done a Super Job and they even took time to wash it as well as cleaning the inside.
