  1. Yea, I agree, I was thinking of something to do, to just have the bulbs showing. - all black surround would look so much better. Report back, what you have to do, so ? Paint ? adheres to that finish.
  2. It's 5:06 PM. Saturday, sunny, Temp about 69F right now. 9/15/07 I just finished hand washing the Lincoln. For this vehicle it's quite an involved process. Few days ago I 'Clay-ed' the whole thing, Detailers Clay + Lube, Vista Roof to Chrome wheels. Next comes the Two-bucket hand wash. One bucket is to rinse the wool mitt out before it goes into the soap bucket for a recharge. Wiped down with a wet chamois. Ordered a California Water Blade to speed the drying process. I was afraid of using one until a friend remarked, I'm taking the same chance of scratches with the chamois. The grill has a GREAT tendency to water spot because of all those squares. Must blot them real good. I've got to do something to take care of water spots. Either I take the easy route and plumb me a line of water off of the house Hot water system (softened water)or I have to get some type of portable water demineralizer. It's pathetic to see the water spots that are left after wiping dry. I'll have to clay the wheels to get them spot-free again, now. Next I will be applying a sealant. I will be using 3M's painters tape to tape off the bottom black plastic all-around the car, and any other places where sealant/wax should not go. I waxed it once after I got it, and just a few light brushes of wax got on that plastic and has yet to wear off 2 months later, and I've tried all types of wax remover. I have a Cyclo Polisher, and about 4 different types of sealants to chose from. Probably will choose the Jeff's, this time to see how it looks. Sealant once a year and pure Carnauba wax maybe 2-3 other times/yr. Anyways, for your viewing pleasure My Pearl White Lincoln . This is a Sunday Driving car only. I fired the chauffeur so I could drive it myself.

If you look real good, you'll see a silver pin strip on both side at the beltline. (Full Size Image) + 35% tint on Frt. Windows.
  5. hey Lou, you got a cell number I can get ahold of you with?
  6. you never had a front license plate holder on it then
  7. What did it say? You want it, you better order early? Who said it? Maybe a Salesman? Oh yea right, I believe every word from those people, Gee I better rush right down and get my order in now, they only are making 1000 of them. That's how a rumor gets started and how info gets twisted. People Sync, (even the salesidiot couldn't spell it right) is going into 5+ different vehicles. If every Edge was ordered with it, every edge would also have it. Just in time inventory. When you get a new Edge, start looking at labels that are placed on different components in it. You will probably see dates that are within 2 weeks of when yours was built. Factories are humming along, they don't just start up last year, make a years worth of parts then shutoff. It's taking about 6 weeks from the time you place an order til it arrives. Calmly walk into a dealership and say, Hi there, can I order me one of them thar cars!
  8. I don't think the type of Gas, has a thing to do with it. It's got a new fuel filter on it. I don't think even overfilling it and letting the charcoal canister fill up, would be the problem. But it might. Here is the first way to troubleshoot anything, return it to original condition and ONLY make one change at a time, 2 changes and you don't know which one caused the problem. Yes, put the lights right back to how you bought it, and see what happens then. If you still have the code, it's time for the service dept. to take a looksee again. If nothing happens, It just might be that cheap light kit you got off ebay.ca. No trouble codes, put the HID back in and see if the code comes back. If it does then there is your problem. It wasn't made for those lights and it might be causing you problems all over the vehicle. BTW, when was the last time you changed the electron overflow buckets under it?
  9. I paid $433 to have the holes plastic welded and the front bumper repainted to get rid of the front license plate holder.

    Coffee Table

Great Idea. I thought I'd leave this article for others to read, while they wait for the Technician's who are outside preparing an answer for the questions they brought in for service. Who's on first. Someone needs to clean the bathroom in the waiting room thou. Pass it along, leave tidbits for others to read.
  11. I don't want to argue about that with you. WOW! I am PISSED!
  12. So I went to this site and check out these shades.. I don't know what the in-channel means, vs. the other type. And I read where you can use 3M tape on some. Oh well, so while I'm their I check out the bug deflector's. I sent a letter asking for a picture of one in Chrome and on a White MKX, this is what I got back. As you'll notice it says Stampede, I wanted to see the Chrome one. My Impressions, YUK! The MKX has a chrome band that runs along the front lip of that hood. I've already inquired about a clear 3M film protector that would cover the lower 1/3 of the hood. For my personal tastes, I don't think I'll be adding either the window channels or bug deflector.
  13. Man, I remember maybe the spring of '72, or maybe it was in '70. But I needed a car. Now I had my heart set on a Chevy Nova, Maybe would have bought a Ford Fairlane I think. But got a Dodge Coronet440. I was looking in brochures of a Gremlin with the Levi interior.. Even had fun with a friend and his Silver/black Vega. Somewhere around that time, I see a teacher of mine driving a Pacer, with that humongous rear window made to bake eggs/people inside the car. Today I see the rear end of a AMC Matador in some GM's. None of those cars were near as bad, as seeing today, an Aztec on the road. And to this day, to have sat and read where GM management would try to deflect criticism til the last day those were sold. Thing's like that can hurt a car company more than any quality reputation in my mind. Thanks for memory lane.
  14. 4 Topics for this forum, but I can't find them. Anyways, here are sales numbers for the month of August. Thought you might want to update the YTD numbers with them. Edge 10,165 August 78,044 TYD MKX 3,421 August 23,145 YTD -------- 101,189 for 8 months, looks like a winner.
  15. I did 2 tests tonight, I got the headliner to vibrate with only the front windows completely down and @ 65 MPH. the second time, I duplicate the same thing, and it didn't vibrate, so it's now intermittent.
  16. Lexol is good,.. Don't ever use Armor-all on Leather, it makes a permanent gloss film that Binds to it. Good place to start on detailing is here http://www.detailuniversity.com/forums/ http://www.autopia-carcare.com/how-to.html http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/ http://autopia.org/forum/
  17. ^^^^^^ turns out it's a lincoln,, they top out at $43,385 Ford knows about that, and has written about it in your manual. Open another window, maybe 1-2 inches. It's due to air pressure. What I really didn't like is, if you have all 4 windows down in a Vista roof and go about 50 MPH, the whole interior headliner will vibrate about 1+ inch over all travel and a terrible drone. /edit And I'm NOT talking about with the Vista Roof open either.
  18. Has anyone tried this with their crossover yet? I thought it wood be a good way for me and 4 other friends to crash a beach party somewhere...
