  1. For $41,445 even if it's list, I'd order me an '08 Lincoln with the 20" wheels, and end up with a much better looking vehicle. The 3D Carbon kit looks nice, but those wheels don't do it for me at all. Personal opinion.
  2. Well lets see, it has been about 8 years since I rode my Harley thru Ouray, did you happen to see that waterfall coming directly out of the side of the mountain? I think that is called Red Mountain, Red because of the iron that has been pulled from it, and the mines along the way. I got to over 11,000 Ft. riding along that way and it was snowing. Then when I arrived in Silverton, that was enough riding for the day, only 11 am, and in the middle of May. That area left a profound impression on me, so much so that, that is where I would like to live. But I can't afford the one million dollars for a lot their. It's now in the Ski Belt, Aspen Resort area. To keep this on topic, interesting to see someone getting rid of what is suppose to be the best performing SUV and getting a lowly American made vehicle. Because you can't wait for one to be built like you want, did you just accept that Porsche from the dealer like it was equipped?
  3. I watched the service manager access the diagnostic page, and then did it myself after I left the dealership. Also tried the same thing on the hybrid and it worked. Their are other tricks like this you can do, to disable a seat belt chime, and/or reminders. You just have to know what and where to do them. I guess our THX II stuff is all junk, like someone else said. LOL
  4. Same thing happened to me on mine, I have the THX/navigation unit. It will come on and go off, the radio will operate as normal, IE Sirius will display the song, and volume will increase in it's display. So I check the fuse for THX, #18 in the manual. It was OK. Here is a way to access the trouble codes for it, While parked, hold in the #3 and #6 keys at the top of the radio. you enter a diagnostic page. Their is a speaker walk-around test (white noise). You will also see something like a DCP page, when you access that, their will be codes. Do NOT clear that page. Take it to your dealer. Mine wrote down the codes and came back to me and said, (it) told him to replace the unit. It took about a week til they got a new one in. The sound would go on and off, One night I would just sit in the CUV and swore I could hear a fan running while I listened to the radio. I suspect it was a heat related failure, and the service manager told me, a lot of radio's have fan's in them. Turns out that #3, and 6 trick works on my Escape Hybrid navigation unit also.

You need to paint those caliper's RED. In just 2 years, rust will start to overtake the silver paint.
  6. They don't just 'shut down the line' like reported before. What they have done is they will stop taking orders for '07's and those will be produced til Sept. 17. Then after the '07 cutoff order date; the orders that are being recieved now, are for the '08's and those will be coming off the line next. It costs too much money to idle an assembly line. Oh and BTW expect Sync to add another $400 to the cost of the 08's. At least that is the price being shown now on an '09 Flex. I happened onto Ford's site about the '09 Flex and priced me one. A Limited with every option, and it ran over $45K. I would also expect perhaps the '09 Edge to have a backup camera, the Flex does.
  7. During May '07, as I would walk into work, I kept admiring a Copper coloured Edge. Then I started researching them online. When I came across the MKX, I said to myself "self; THAT was a nice looking photo". I think for a few days I would try to read everything I could about the MKX. Well I came home one night and told the wife, lets go 'look' at one. I think I was about 90% ready to buy. The first dealer I stopped in at, I was given the White MKX like the picture at the top of this page to drive. I was thinking of the white/maple interior, but that MKX had the charcoal one. Well, as I drove it, I liked the dark interior, it just seemed to make me feel cosier inside it. And I thought the light coloured interior would be too difficult to keep clean. I didn't want the rear heated seats, nor trailer tow package. So I had the dealer locate me one, equipped the way I wanted. I had done my homework, and knew another local dealer had the same vehicle on his lot. That dealer had the nerve to tell me he wanted a $500 deposit before he would get it for me. Hell, I could have paid him cash for the whole thing. I got up and told him keep your car, I'm off to another dealer, and walked out. So, 45 Min's later I'm looking at a 'completely loaded' MKX at another lot. White/black. Everything on it. Then I run into a deal breaker and tell him to locate me one. Except this time, I say: " I don't want that license plate bracket on the FRONT bumper". He wants to balk about it, I point out to him on his row of MKX's and Edge's that this is the only one with it, and it sucks. Finally, the general manager comes to me, and wants to know If I'll take $300 because of that plate & bracket. I say, OK. He says, "You just bought a car". My head is thinking of plugs I can make to fill the holes after I remove it, so in I go to order touch up paint. $41 K (includes the $2300 sales tax) and 1 Hour later we are driving it home. My impressions. I LOVE IT! But what do I think about the complaints being tossed around on other sites? Hard seats, no their NOT hard, their firm and after you settle into them, the side bolsters will start to nestle you and they seem just right. You want softer seats, you get a Town Car. Brakes? Well Ford is getting away from the instant grab when you hit the break pedal, that's why it seems there is excessive travel til you slow a 2 1/4 ton truck. Best A/C I have ever experienced. Bad side to my impressions. Yes it could have used more wood on that center column instead of that painted plastic, and now I have to be careful not to scratch it. It should have had Michelin's on it and 20" chrome. But I can live with it as is. This is a LINCOLN. I want to tool in it, and look sharp and I want the car to be noticed, and that it is. I don't want to see another one like mine wherever I drive. I did pass a black one, and sorry, but it sucked. you could hardly tell what it was , Why would that be? I'm NOT going to drive it like it was a sports car. I reached an age, where I could finally get INTO a Lincoln and I want to treat it with respect. I've had 3 sun-roof's before and this one is nice, but I'd rather have it closed and shaded almost all the time, but it's nice to open it and show others how different it is. The car/truck just needs more bell's and whistle's is all, it will get them in a few years, The '08 has more. Hell even the 09 Flex will have a backup camera. sheesh. Best audio I've heard in a car, THX! I DO like the gauges, It's meant for me to drive and not keep my eyes on the dash. I even turn the white LED's on the gauges down now to 1/2 power. I've tinted the side windows, like above. I've put on S.S. sill plates, and WeatherTech mats thru out. Undercoat, and LED license plate bulbs. That engine is really nice too, so quick to start and it idle's beautifully. QUIET! Plenty of pep, when I want to get on the interstate. I could go on and on, addressing issue's others have, and service work I've had done, but the bottom line is, every-time I get into it, I love it, every-time I look at it, I love it. I have NEVER had a vehicle as sweet as this Lincoln. And you know what, I also thought it was a great price for it too. And greeting's to you all, also. PS, Did I mention how sweet it is?!
  8. Whoa!!!! Let's get this straight. The first thing someone would do is check the dipstick to see the level. Then they put the car on a lift. Drop the Transmission out, tear it down. Put it back together again. You come in and they tell you it was overfilled? Did you notice RED Fluid where you park? That is also the same colour and type that is used for power steering. Keep your eye on this. Better yet, is to park over a ditch and squeeze under it and with a flashlight, see if you can find the source of a leak. I had a transmission leak once and it was from the bottom of the radiator, they cool the fluid there.
  9. Let's say, you will put on 15K miles / year. You purchase your own parts. Let's use high numbers for everything, Oil @$3/Qt. x 5 plus filer = $20 x 3 changes / yr. @5K = $60/yr x 5 yrs. = $300. A lot of places will take your used oil. Brake pads should last for 50K miles. So 1 change @ 3.5 years, plus labor @ $150/parts @$40. = $190. Tires good for 60-70K. Installed say $ >$500. - not covered under any plan, just tossing that in. Ford's have always had a rep. for maintaining alignment, so again.. not going to use that as a cost basis. Add in air filters and Washer fluid. I'd say for 5 years, doing your own oil @ 5K and changing pads once. would run $500 MAX. Use Synthetic oil and going to 7.5K changes would even be cheaper. Ford Motorcraft is a syn. BLEND, BTW. Just food for thought. You do it and save about 1/2 the dealer plan price, + your time going their.

  11. What say I? It's like most of the reply's or reviews I read, sullbhit! I also have a Hybrid Escape with a navigation screen and it's less than 1/3rd. the size of this one and both work good enough. If you don't have a 30" monitor then you reall can't figure out what you want to see, now can you. And you can always use a 2D navigation system. I'm going to vent. IF the seats aren't hard enough, if it can't get more horsepower, if the navigation system isn't big enough, if the breaks aren't good enough, if the MPG isn't high enough, then I just leave it parked and hop on my 1 HP 4 hoofed saddle open to the elements methanol spewing mind of it's own transportation no tax no insurance device and go for it.
  12. This is how a salesman would explain it; when you start the car with no one in the seat, it runs the weight test, and determines their isn't enough weight to set the pass. airbag function (why pay for 2 deployments if no one was sitting there)? It lights up to notify you, it is not armed, and by armed, I mean just that, a small explosive charge is used. Since you wouldn't want to see that light glow all night long as you drive, it turns the light off for you. I 'think' any weight above 40 lbs. sets the discharge function to 'lite', and a weight higher than ?? 90 lbs. set the deployment charge to normal. I also think the manufacturer's stress that you strap children in the rear seats, and just adults should sit in the front, you know, like at the dinner table, there to be seen, but not heard. So into the back where there not even seen, and if that's not good enough for them, well they can take the bus then..... oh sorry, I was thinking of my own.
  13. Well looking at the bright side of things, your MPG has to be the highest for any know vechile in the world also.
  14. It's not that simple to replace a grill on an MKX, I know mine has been done twice. Actually your WHOLE front end will have to come off, to put a new grill in/on. By whole front end. I mean the bumper with the grill, their integral. Try to slip your hand into the lower slot below the grill and see what you feel. Those 4 bolts that show when you pop the hood. will give you no access to the grill. I'd suggest if you find a replacement, have a collision center put it in for you.
  15. make seperate forums for the MKX.. after a few weeks of reading these forums here, it's gone stale
  16. I assume by DRL lights, you mean Driving Lights, or Daytime lights? OK, fine for you, BUT you'll notice that Ford did not follow the trend that other Motor manufacturers took and put them ON. Two fold reason, ANY electrical accessory you run DOES cut into gas mileage. Ford did a nice breakdown of exactly what every item did cost you in mileage on their Hybrid, even roof racks, heater fan, etc. ONE of my pet-peeves and the second reason, Ford works with Harley Davidson. Those daytime running lights have turned into a fad now, and peoples reaction to them are working against the concept of them. They have now become a deathtrap for a motorcycle rider. In the 60's, Federal law mandated that all motorcycles were the have headlights ON, when the engine was started. This was a protection for the Rider. NOW people do not see them, as it doesn't register with them. Well I had to voice how I feel about that, but I do believe Ford sells something that can be retro-fitted to give you those lights. GM has lowered the intensity of theirs from when they first put them on their products.
  17. What is the big deal with having to have the spare tire floor locked? I have those cargo organizers, and there OK to toss in vechile cleaning supplies. As for Cutting out the Styrofoam, just spend the $65 the factory wants and have the plastic bins installed, otherwise just remove what you can and use the painted floor sheet metal. IF I was to break into your vechile, the last place I would assume you stored anything of value would be around your spare tire, I'd go for your radio and what was in the glove box and center console. The center console was touted as being able to store a laptop in and it looks to me like it might. As for a mat to protect the rear carpet, I purchased one from WeatherTech. Fits nice and has about a 1.5 inch lip all the way around it. I've had 2 vehicles with a cover that unfolds over that rear area and they become a pain in the butt soon enough, The cover ends up being stacked in the garage after about 2 years.
  18. So if you install those wheels, what color would you paint your calipers? RED? I know that the Ford Silver on my 05 Escape Hybrid Calipers was Silver and after just 2 years and less than 3000 miles now, the calipers look like they need a LOT more paint.
  19. No Lincoln doesn't have anything like this, Since mine is White Chocolate, I will be going for a clear plastic covering, like the type that can be installed on your front bumper. Google search for protective Bumper cover and you'll come across a few places where you can order one precut, and instructions on how to install. ( Name of site escapes me at this moment, but when I am ready to order I will re-run my search again.) Then again, I'm debating with myself on the need to have it, I don't plan on hauling lumber out the back of the Lincoln.
  20. That's because it is NOT a metallic paint, it is a Pearlescent Paint. I know, That's what my MKX is, and definently get the 20 inch wheels in chrome And Vista Roof. Ditch any roof rack. You'll be styling in White Pearl, chrome and satin black. Sweet.
  21. 07 MKX : Different bulb. One word of caution here, I ordered these same lights for an MKX and they will NOT fit. The MKX does NOT use a wedge style end. It has a Festoon Base. Part I ordered was 3610-x4 LED, 36x10mm. Festoon Bulb. Personally I ordered mine in Blue. IF it doesn't work, I'll return to post that. But I wanted to point out the difference, after I had assumed they should be the same bulb. The cross-reference at Sylvania states the same info as above, but when i went to put the bulb in, wrong type. http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/sto...490&next=50 Didn't like the blue, I ordered white and their fine, not close to the same brighness as the OEM blubs, but still a different look. I had assumed the blue might look like a HID blub, but it has a sickly blue tint and I didn't want too look like a pimp named lex.
