  1. Will the re-write come out mid cycle on the 2011's so that some people have it and others don't or will it simply come out when they release the 2013? Will this re-write be able to be loaded into existing 2011 and 202 models? I would think it would be a shaft for us owners to be stuck with a inferior system when Ford is aware of it's flaws, hence the re-write. Just don't wanna be stuck as the lab rat who tested the system so they can make a better one for those who waited does anyone have a 100% confirmation that we will be able to flush our existing system for the new one? Thanks!

  4. Thanks for the reply, i appreciate the feedback!! I'll mention this to my dealer who currently has my vehicle in for 9 other issues along with this one, (i have a lemon) and see if this suggestion helps any. Just curious, let's say this is the case or something similar, why does it only start at 80 km's an hour, and almost exactly to that number? Wouldn't the throttle be just as open at lower speeds while accelerating or higher rpm's? Today is Tuesday, i wonder if I'll even have my car back by Friday Any other suggestions welcome for this noise I'm hearing should anyone want to suggest something different. Thanks!!
  5. Hey Everyone, Im heading over to the dealer to try and fix a problem I've have since i took ownership of my car. I've been there once before about this but they claim to not hear the noise... Here is the notes i am handing to the dealer tomorrow: The car will randomly make a “scratching” / sound while the accelerator is being pressed (or cruise control engaged) while driving on the highway at speeds approx. 80+ km’s / hour. This noise also sounds like a "snowy" channel when the tv cable is unplugged. This happens on almost ever occasion with the exception of a few times per week, if that. The sound is not extremely loud, but annoying as hell and could be heard over soft music easily. This noise will shut off once the gas / throttle is released. I am ruling out this being related to the TSB # 11-2-13 (wind noise due to side mirror) as it will ONLY happens while accelerator is pressed / throttle engaged. If I release the gas the noise stops immediately, if I re-apply the gas it comes back on…I can make it start and stop the noise simply by engaging the throttle. I have tried to identify where this is coming from and it certainly the front of the car, left side, behind the dash possibly. This noise has been haunting me for months now, i just haven't had the time to bring my car in unfortunately to deal with it. The killer was last week on my 18 hour road trip vacation, I had to listen to it all 8 hours driving there and back, i finally lost it and am taking some time off work tomorrow to being it in. Just as an fyi...i did the mirror fix with the foam insert and this noise still happens, I'm ruling out it being the mirrors as this noise will not appear at any speed unless the throttle is engaged. So, the noise ONLY shows up when I am pressing on the gas, or the car is on cruise control, it starts up between 70 and 80 km's per hour and will immediately disappear when i release the gas. It sorta sounds like air, but at the same time it doesn't..it sounds like rushing water, snowy channels, and best word to describe it is "scratchy". It is not coming from the radio as it will do it with the radio on or off. I tried with different setting on the heater and a/c and it still shows up regardless. I read someone mention something about a cracked evaporator on their car causing noise...could this be a possibility? Any help that i can bring it to the dealer with regards where to look or anything that may help would be really helpful! Thanks! Tony
  6. Hey Everyone, Can someone please tell me the best way to get dead splattered bugs of my Chrome grill, side mirrors, and entire front end without ruining the paint? I just got back from a 18 hour road trip and my car looks like I took out a few hundred bugs, the front end is completely covered to the point my side mirrors don't even show any paint anymore lol…some are really large, some small, some simply exploded and some of them are still somewhat in tact lol. The heat has been so intense the last few days and I'm sure they have crusted on the paint since I got back on Monday July 4th. I highly doubt my regular soft Simonize mitt will be able to scrape these suckers off so what is the best "abrasive" I can use to get this mess off the car after it has dried up and what kind of soap do I need? Should I use my std Meguiar's Gold? I saw someone at a car wash a few weeks back and the car wash guy was telling him that they needed to apply a special solution to get the bug residue off the paint and they used a small semi-abrasive scrubber, almost like the ones used to wash the dishes but not exactly in order to get all the "grime" off. Before I do something I regret to the paint, can I please get some feedback on the tools and soaps I should use to get this off, I'm expecting it to be very tacky and crusty once I get to doing this.   8. Quick question, I need to transport something that won't entirely fit into the Edge. I am missing about 6 to 10"'to allow for the hatch to close all the way. I've seen people drive with things sticking out of their trucks with the hatch tied down tight to prevent it from bouncing but don't know how this apply to the Edge with a motorized hatch? Is doing this something I should avoid for concern of breaking the motor or are these motorized hatches built for this and made for situations like this? Before I commit to transporting my furniture piece, I'm hoping I can get some feedback on leave the gate partially open. It's just that motor that's got me worried. Thanks! Tony

Based on taking a trip and doing only highway driving, cruise set to 105 km's / hour non stop for a 8 plus hour road trip, for a limited AWD, how many km's can I expect to do on a full tank? 600 kms +\-? No stops, just get on highway and 1st stop would be to refuel. Thanks again!
  10. I just don't get it....Each time I fill up, the screen which shows me how many km's I have to empty is completely different. For example, I filled up back around 2 months ago and I was showing 579 km's to empty once I left the gas station which I was thrilled to see. Then the next time I filled up I showed something close to 499 until empty. I filled up yesterday and couldn't believe it but now showed 454 km's to empty? Why would I get such different results? On almost all accounts, I prob had less than 20 km's left to empty or approx 1/8th in the tank give or take by the reading. Don't know if it makes a difference or not, but when I find gas at a really good price, I tend to fill then overfill, meaning I will slowly pull out the nozzle 3 to 4 times so I can get it extra full but I doubt this makes a difference? The results are not a few km's away, we are up to 100 at times? What are people showing when they fill up all the way? Is there something I need to reset prior or after filling up to make it read correctly? Now, second question: As much as I am showing 499 km's to empty, knowing in my head I should probably have more, when I drive highway or city I notice that it's not 1 for 1 with my millage. I was driving highway on cruise control set to 105 and I was getting roughly 2 km's on the tachometer for every 1 km being reduced on my KM to empty screen I guess making up for the lower number? Is this normal? Not always the same in the city but I have seen this. Lastly, How sensitive is the fuel indicator? I am asking as I've put gas in on 2 occasions and the km's to empty has not reflected it and didn't rise. I was in a bad situation about 2 months ago, had something like 5 km's left till empty and only had $10 on me. I put in the $10 but the millage left to empty never went up, it stayed at the same 5 km's. Any help to these 3 questions would be appreciated!! Thanks in advance! Tony
  11. Wish you were in Canada, I would join you in your fight, my entire car is worth trash right now. I brought my car in on Friday for 8 problems, 1 recall, and 1 TSB, i was grossed out by the number of problems i am having with it and like you said, i also paid almost 50k for this "thing". Half my problems they can't even fix, not to mention my lack of 4" screens which contain vital info which continue to shut down for days and after asking the dealer this Friday for an update on the fix, Ford still hasn't been able to find one...that sickens me. The only thing i want right now is to get rid of this thing, i will be speaking with someone on my end as well regarding lemon laws as well. This car in my opinion needs to be taken off the road. Not everyone is facing problems, but the people that are, it's pretty severe and the risk is there for everyone. I wonder who the first person i should call is in Canada about this??
  12. Hey everyone, I'm out on a weekend getaway about 250 km's from home and my 2 4" screens have once again gone dead, what a piece of garbage!! Can someone please post the procedure on how to cycle the keys?? From what I remember, it's more than just opening and closing the locks from what the dealer told me about 2 months ago. Thanks for the help!
  13. Wonder if these mirrors will fit on my October built Edge? May try and get my dealer to swap them out....that is if it is compatible with my Bliss system (in case they tweaked around with it?)
  14. Sorry akirby!! I intended to mention this and it slipped my mind and I was rushing to finish before work started lol. I will be loading all music and play lists onto a 4 gig USB flash drive. I already have all my music on it but want to add a few playlists to it. I have an iphone 4 as well, but don't have the patience to continue taking it out of my pocket to plug it in to access the music but I think it also get's done wirelessly if I am correct. In any case, I don't want to worry about pairing all the time or it dropping the connection, I want to stay safe and go with the USB drive for this type of job. Thanks for your help! Tony
  15. Same here, also looking for a copy of the TBS bulletin so I can present that to my dealer. The wind noise I get while driving is starting to drive me nuts. If I don't have the music on to offset the noise (which even at that doesn't always work unless it's loud), I can't have a nice peaceful drive without hearing a damn whistle. Going to the dealer to put my summer tires back on soon and want to have this addressed while I'm there. I stopped counting how many recalls and problems I've had with this "thing" so far, this is ridiculous already.
  16. Good morning! From what I've gathered on this forum, the only way for me to import play lists currently on my itunes and listen to them in my 2011 Edge would be to convert them into M3U files? I did some reading on this forum and the only person who mentioned that they had done it was Tonya and I'm looking to get either a response from herself or anyone else on how to do this please. For starters, I searched Google and found a bunch of sites that seem like they can do this, however not sure how many are authentic sites (meaning no virus after downloading the software). The most popular seems to be EricDaugherty.com which is mentioned on multiple sites. I was curious to see (for those of you who have done this), which program you downloaded and if it worked well and was easy to use? Any write ups on making M3U files would be really helpfull! My main goal is to set up various play lists for different music styles (including my 2 year olds fav music lol) and be able to play just those play lists on demand. For those of you who have also done this, can you tell me if these play lists will actually play the music in the exact order I set them in and not like the default settings in the Edge which is by song title? I don't want my music to play by song title, song number, or artist name, I want it in the order I set it up to play in. Again, some people tell me to simply call it up with the voice command, I've tried and it catches about half (if not less) of the artists I want to listen to, forget about asking for the song title, it's even worst. Thanks for all the help and hopefully I can make some M3U's this weekend!!! Tony

  18. Thanks for the info. I'll go and try a master reset from the touch screen and if that doesn't work I'll call the 'CRC"....is that the Ford customer service line or something different? I'll report back after I try the result with the results.

  20. Thanks wilsons66604, I did what you said and unfortunately still nothing. Man what a piss off, one day it works and the next nothing. What could possibly cause it to suddenly fail out of the blue? After start up when it doesn't connect automatically, I try to manually connect the phone. It pops up a window for no more than a second and you can see the 6 digit Bluetooth code but disappears to show a "pairing failed" message. You can still hear sync talking with directions how to connect. Tried 10 times, all failed. I found the master reset button on the mytouch. Should I attempt doing this to see where it takes me or is the risk for more problems there by trying this? By the way, what will this reset and what will I lose? Anyone get their phone back after this problem and how did you fix yours?
  21. Yeah!! I just joined this club Woke up this morning to find the my Iphone 4 will no longer connect to the car. It has been working flawlessly for the last 3 months but did my V2.4 update 2 weeks ago and it's no longer working now. Coinsedence, maybe, but doubt it. When I check the phone list, it lists my phone. When I start the car, it tried to connect but wont, then I try to press "connect" after it fails and still nothing…it just keeps trying and trying but wont happen. I refuse to pull fuse # 29, if it goes that far then the dealer can deal with it. How do you do a soft reset of the iphone? Is it just turning the power off then back on and same goes with he soft reset on the MyTouch...is there a place that offers this function in the menu? Sorry, never had to look before so not sure where it is. Should I delete the phone from the Touch list and try re-pairing it? As for someone mentioning having USB issues since the update, me too. I can shut my car off listening to radio or Serious and when I start it back up, it's in the middle of a song from my USB or USB will kick in just like that as well. It also just starts to index for an hour and jams there. This also happened the minute I left the dealer lot with the update and is still happening. Wonder what njbrandon's dealer did to fix it? I wonder if this product will ever be prefect.....
  22. Ok, Based on the number of views on my posting, everyone must know about both my 4" display's dying out on me with no real fix until the 2nd quarter of 2011. Along with that issue, many of us have a sluggish MyTouch, crashing screens, software update problems, aren't happy with the location of the hazard button, and a few quirks that seem to "bother" people, wind noise and so much more. What bothers me is that the initial MyTouch for all the early adopters was obviously flawed with many issues, then some of us had the body control module replaced (me included), then the 2.4 update (like me), now the 4" screens seem to be crapping out (mine is dead) and I also have the "wind noise" issue and mytouch is slower than I’d like. When I paid the almost 50k for a new truck, after all that I have gone through so far, it no longer feels "new" to me, it also doesn't seem ready yet. I feel like I bought an experimental car and I was the guinea pig. I wanted to wait for the second model year but I couldn't wait any longer, it was either the Edge or another company and I took the Edge. Based on a post I read from someone who drove the 2011 Explorer (While his 2011 Edge was being updated to V2.4)and they really appreciated the location of the USB slot, a few other keys, and also mentioned that the MyTouch seemed fairly quick, that prompted me to post this thread.... What do you think we can expect to see in the 2012 Model of the Ford Edge? Do you think that within a year they can find and fix all the bugs? Since my car came with the V1.8 and was then upgraded to V2.4, do you think all 2012's will be built off the start with V2.4 (or the last release at that given time) or do you think they will go with a new design to help with the bugs and speed? e.g. a different platform? Could all 2011 models be upgraded to what the 2012 has should they decide to change it? Do you think they will change the APIM's to better ones? Would they release a 2012 if they knew that there were still bugs with the system and didn't have the fixes yet in order to reduce returns on the 2012 models? Do you foresee any changes to the body, mirrors, interior, dash, wind noise fix etc...? What do they usually "re-tool" when building the new model years? I'm asking because I spoke to my dealer and expressed my concerns with the 2011 and we may work out something for me to upgrade to a 2012 (when it comes out) with a very small amount of money lost on the depreciation. I may have to give my car back now if I want to get a very high return on it, it currently has under 4000 km's and still brand new, or I can wait for the 2012's to come out, but it will have closer to 10,000 kms and get less for it. If I dump it now, I would be without a car for a few months (possibly) but I am working on taking over a friend's lease on their truck (VW) for the remainder of the year until the 2012's are out so I could have wheels. Some people think I’m an idiot to reconsider the Edge again, but I honestly love the car, the drive, the look and everything about it, I can't see myself driving anything else. I'm sure the system will be perfect eventually, but I'm just not convinced that this year’s model is for me even if they fix all the bugs I won’t be fully satisfied with my purchase as it won’t even feel perfect to me as I needed so many fixes to get it there, not to mention the wind noise driving me nuts. I should have an answer by tomorrow on the buyback value of my 2011 Edge if I give it in right now, this dealer has tons of clients looking for 2011's who want to leave with one tomorrow but as they are still 6 - 10 weeks lead time, some people don't want to wait that long and if they can get a virtually new car fully loaded like mine within 24 hours for cheaper than a brand new one ordered, he said he would move it really fast. I never owned a brand new car, have no idea how a buy back works, or how a trade in works? Not sure how much you stand to lose if you return a 2011 for a 2012 or simply sell it back to the dealer in the same year? If I sell it and re-buy in 9 months, I would think I would lose more money than doing a trade in and paying the difference...something to do with the taxes paid on the car I heard? The dealer told me he's had people do a trade-in in the same year and only loose couple of grand, I'm fine with that if they dramatically improve the car and have to Green light to let it go now, just trying to figure out in my head if it would even worth it or which way I should go between selling it now or waiting to do a trade in around September? Again, not hating on the car, that is why I want another Ford Edge, if I truly hated this car, I would count my losses and never look back. I just want one that i feel is perfect from the first day i bought it, not one needing constant fixes and updates to get there.
  23. akirby - as per the tech that spoke with Ford, cycling the key "could" and has fixed the problem in some cases but not all the time. In the cases that it has, I was told that it's temporary and that even if it would come back on, there is no guarantee for how long as it will eventually crash again until the initial problem causing this is fixed. It will help some people and others not, the dealer tried this, it worked for a little then crashed again. The dealer was telling me how to cycle the key but then we got cut off by someone and we forgot about that conversation so I never got the instructions. He told me to try it if I wanted to. By the time I remembered to call him back about this, the dealer was closed and they aren't open on the weekends in Quebec. What is cycling the key anyway and how do i do this? All we got to was leaving it on accessory mode then doing something before we were cut off. Oh ya, the speedo technically works, it's just getting it to reset itself that is the problem...it tends to freeze upon start-up. Once it's down, it's fine.
