  1. Hey CanuckG35, What rims did you pick out at Tire Rack and how did you do the winter package combo? I tried selecting the 2011 Edge for tires and wheels but got the following error message: Due to the unique technical aspects of this application, we can only accept orders for Winter / Snow Tire & Wheel Packages for your 2011 Ford Edge Limited AWD over the phone and it wouldn’t show me any wheels?? How did you select your wheels and which ones you eyeballing? Link? As for the TPMS sensor, myself personally, I think it will drive me nuts to see the light all winter and potentially here a chime, so I'm on the fence about getting them or not, I want them but don't want to pay the added cost for them lol. I was speaking to another friend on the forum and I was told that the TPMS sensors from the 2011 Edge is NOT like the previous model years. Unlike the other years being on the inside rim, I was told this year it’s on the valve, don't hold me to this but this is what I was told. I have asked for some pictures of the valve and maybe the part number as it was bought from a Ford Dealer in Montreal and the price was $42 each at Ford Cost. I haven't decided fully on the tires yet but the DM-V1's are looking like they may take it but know with all this talk about 17's or 18's, I am once again second guessing myself with size now...I want 18's but 17's may be better for cutting snow, besides they will be cheaper, and the rims to. Still debating this in my head lol. I too will do a P/U in the USA, I actually live 30 minutes from my door to the Lacolle boarder in USA and the holding facility I ship them to is about 1/4 mile once I’m in...the charge 3$ to hold a shipment of any size under 50 pounds so I can't go wrong there! Tire Rack quoted me $144 to ship to Montreal or $61 30 minutes from my door on the American side, it's a no brainer lol. I would love to buy a set of 2011 SEL wheels for the winter, even the most basic ones painted only would work for me, I would rather it be originals but I think I’m going to be picking something up from Tire Rack as well. Tony
  2. I'm still on net reading, found these reviews that may help some people: http://www.consumersearch.com/snow-tires http://www.canadiandriver.com/2009/11/16/winter-tire-test-michelin-x-ice-xi2.htm Still looking for people's opionions from those who have used any of these.
  3. Personally, I don't want my brand new Chrome 20's mounted to machines twice a year for tire swaps, rims get damaged and scuffed no matte how careful they are, especially doing it twice a year. If I only have to mount new tires once every 3 - 5 years, I'm thrilled that they wont see any machine for that long other than the possible balancing I will do on them. Besides, running your rims in the winter will prob keep the nice rims looking "less nice" in the long run once the winters eat away at them. I could care less about the steelies and can change them easily for a fraction of the cost. Also, just put a cheap hub cap on the steelies, it changes everything. Tire Rack for Canadians is the place, the tires for my SS where over $250 CAD in Montreal, I paid $140 USD, no tax, and dollar was floating at par, and I stay in the usa for 48 hours so I pay no duty
  4. Ok, so with Winter fast approaching, and even quicker for some of us (Alaska!!), I need to find me a pair of dedicated Winter tires for my 2011 Limited AWD. Granted, Quebec is mandated to put winter tires on, but even at that, I wouldn't have kept the all season's on even if I was allowed to. Even though I've upgraded to the 20's, I'm going to be picking up some sort of 18" rims for the winter, something I don't mind getting salt and gunk on be it steelies or other. I will / want to run the popular size of 245/60/18 which I think most people are. So, those who have, or do run winter specific tires on their Edges, what make and model do you like? What's going to plough through lots or little snow like a champ, give me great traction and do well on ice (we get lots of Black ice here)? After lots of reading on the net, I've found top reviews for the following 4 models: Pirelli Scorpion Ice And Snow Toyo Observe G-02 plus Bridgestone Blizzack DM-V1 Michelins Latitude - Not sure which model though Pricing aside, I just want something incredible that will do what it says its made to do. Price is a "small" factor, but right now I'm looking for feedback primarily and to make the best choice possible, price will prob come second after that. Can anyone say anything about the above mentioned choices or any suggest other tires you are using or have used? Tire Rack in the USA does not sell Toyo, but they have the Scorpions and DM-V1 ($140 - 170 range) which seemed to rate very well and the prices are to my liking but I've heard that the Toyo Observe is simply incredible but I didn't find a place who has them in the USA or Canada for cheap, found them in Canada but close to $300 a pop! Still looking an awesome deal on those as well. Once I figure this out, I will start looking for the rims I'll be using to mount them so gotta act quick! Thanks, Tony

  7. Hey Everyone, As this forum continues to grow with more and more 2011 Edge owners each day, myself personally have started to lose track of all the postings lately and where I saw the answers to some of my questions e..g which thread was it in, what page, etc.... I am trying to create 1 common place which will be more or less a bank of FAQ's with answers, along with problems + solutions people have reported over the various threads already created. I hope to make this thread a place where people can come to quickly find an answer to their question or simply browse through a bunch of answers or solutions to various concerns without having the search throughout different topics spread out on many pages. Hopefully it will contain as many answers to the most common questions we've been seeing, along with remedies to some repeated "problems" and how people have fixed them or what needs to be done to fix it. Feel free to post any problems or challenges you may have had and how you’ve fixed it, questions and answers to specific questions you have asked or know people will probably look for and I will take your posts and add it to the “master list” Should any of the information found below not be accurate, need modification or elaboration, please let me know so i can update. Hopefully this thread would be considered for a "sticky" once it gets built up, it will take me a few days but I am committed to working on it and will continually maintain and update it every moment I get. I hope people will find this thread useful in one way or another. Thanks, Tony
  8. I was told and thought the same thing, however had no choice to buy this year due to selling me previous car a lot quicker than anticipated (couldn't pass on the offer). My wife and I only agreed on the Edge as a new vehicle so our minds were made up and we just ordered, order is going in today to the plant. Are the problems / glitches we keep hearing about being reported to Ford and do they correct them / update them each day or do they wait until the model year ends and then fixes them e.g. new software updates, firmware etc... I wonder if any of the problems people are facing will be corrected in future builds like car being built in October, November etc... If they aren't, is everyone convinced that with time they will be or is this something that 1st model year owners are going to have to live with? I'm bummed out hearing all the negative feedback on the Navi system, Miles instead of KM's (have no idea if the person with that issue has had it fixed or not??) and i hear that the Navi is slow, another bummer.
  9. Thanks eveyone! I just got in from the dealer and I did it, I made the change from FWD to now AWD. I think that added sense of security will make me feel a little better driving through any type of weather now and I won't hesitate to go out in conditions that I would second guess before. I'm sure either option would be fine but I can see the added value of the AWD being from Montreal. Now, order goes in tomorrow morning, let's see how long it takes before I get to drive it home! Feel free to continue adding opinions or comparisons for both, myself and others would probably find it very useful if debating which to buy. Thanks again! Tony
  10. Just a quick question for all of you, My dealer called me today as a courtesy call and asked me if there was anything I wanted to change or add to my order as it was the last day to do so before he submitted the order I placed. I ordered the Limited with the FWD option but people (most people actually) I've been speaking to about my purchase think I should have opted for the AWD due to living in Montreal meaning significant snow, sleet and unpredictable weather at times, better resale (for our market) and it would sell faster here should I ever decide to sell it. My reasoning not to have chosen the AWD initially was the additional parts (should they break and need repairing = $$), weight of car is more with AWD and extra gas consumption, I don't drive to work so the snow on a daily basis isn't a major "concern", i don't do winter sports (hate the cold) and don't have a country house where off road may be needed. Do I truly need AWD, prob not, but with my wife and I also driving my 2 year old daughter around, it may be reassuring to know that it is there should and if we need ever need it. I've never driven a FWD vehicle or AWD, it will be a first for me either way so I don't know the difference between them. All my cars past have been RWD sport sedans but was told once you go AWD you don't go back. My question is, on a full tank of gas, how much more will I be "losing / spending" to drive the AWD over the FWD? Does it work out to probably around $10.00 more per fill up or so? Is the extra fuel consumption something I should be considering or is it so insignificant that it shouldn't be the deciding factor? Also, I keep reading that the 2 drive very differently, can anyone who's driven both or know the biggest differences between the 2 driving styles please provide your impressions on both. Does the AWD feel "wierd" in the summer or would i not notice the difference between the AWD vs FWD in the summer driving in the city and / or long highway cruises. Lastly, what is the reliability of these AWD system, should I expect it to last a long time, say 10 years or so before I worry about repairs? I just hate having to have this system on the car for the 8 months i prob don't need it but i know it is piece of mind when i would. The $1500.00 upgrade cost was an issue, now it's not, i just want to make the right choice before it's to late. Any feedback would be appreciated, now or after my deadline to change order as we never know what they can do if i push them. Thanks in advance! Tony
  11. Writing from my iPhone, I'm standing infront of 2 Limited AWD's in a lot at a local Ford dealer. They are both Black Leather interior with Sienna stitching Don't have a build date but they are in Montreal so Canadian made. What's the deal with the White?
  12. Please include model: Sel, Limited or Sport and if you are in Canada or USA for poll Trying to find a trend for the different color and why the difference.
  13. STUNNING!! I love your White color and the tints are such a nice contrast! When I went to the dealer to order mine, I sorta wanted White as my last car was Black for 4 years and at the time what I thought was their White "demo" SEL and I didn't like to much. I hated that it was more pearly, beige and I wanted a pure White look. After looking at your car and going back on the Ford Canada site, I can see that the SEL has a White Suede which prob what I saw and didn't like so much and that the Limited options only have the White Platinum which you have. Knowing this now, wow, I may have chosen the White. I know my dealer is only putting the order in on Wednesday (by my request) and am totally torn between the White and Black now I know Black is harder to make look clean at all times and shown more dust etc...but my wife prefers it this color. Me, I want a change and love the look of the White for a change of color. I don't know if I like the White in the sport only though with the Black grill vs. the Chrome, I know I am attracted to this Black grill look. The only thing that makes me want the Black is the matching lower body trim color. It seems like the Limited model has Black "plastic" trim around front and rear bumper and below doors, I don't know if I would enjoy the obvious look of the contrasting plastic whereas the sport is painted to match. I am contemplating if I could simply order a Black sport grill and have it put onto my Limited, I'm guessing this will soon become a popular mod. Also wondering if I can get the lower body trim below doors and below front bumper from the sport added to the Limited. Won't work for the rear as I bought the tow package. Tony
  14. This is not cool??!?!? I want the Sienna color, but White would be nice to but i would like to know why one over the other? Is there any sence to this? Any reasons why one or the other? Could it be an option bought on the vehicle includes this? Canada vs. USA? Who would know the answer to this?
  15. Thanks for the confirmation! I wonder why they show the Whitish color and if any of the models actually come with that? Who knows, but i prefer the Sienna color so yeah lol!
  16. Hey There, As I anxiously await delivery of the 2011 Edge Limited, I was browsing on the Ford Canada website just looking at random pictures. I was inside the gallery under the "interior" tab and noticed something odd. They show pictures of the Black Leather interior, which is the option I chose, however is some pictures it's shown with White stitching and other with a Sienna styled color stitching? So which is it? Could it be that it depends on the model you buy e.g. SEL had White and the Limited and Sport had the Sienna?? I know in the 2010 models, the Sienna stitching was a payable "option", but it doesn't seem to be so in the 2011's so this has thrown me off a little. Just trying to figure out what color I will get as my stitching and what everyone else has in their cars? Here are the pics I found:
  17. Yes, please do! I ordered mine with a Black interior since you can't really get a good feel for what the Sienna really looks like but I've been curious to see it. I would still have time to change my mind if I like it. I ordered a Black Paint color, wondering Sienna interior would look nicer than just the plain Black? Pics please! Tony
  18. Just curious to see what people took AFTER they closed the deal for their cars? After we finalized the price this week for the car, they took me down stairs into the "dungeon" and tried to sell me tons of extras, it was a full 8 1/2 x 11 sheet with about 20 extra options I could take / that they tried to sell me. Just curious if everyone goes through this and if you opted to take any of them? I like the extended warranty for 5 years, but at almost $2000 I am not sure if I can, I'm already at the top of my budget with this car and not much room for more, if I had the 2k, I prob would have taken the AWD that I wanted. The only ones that REALLY interest me is the rust proofing they offered and the Sherlock engraving. The rust proofing is some sort of wax, they claim it will last 10 years and I wont have to do it again for at least that long vs. typical oil and chemical that you must do every year. I usually do the chemical based rust proof, it's called DuraTech, it worked well but not sure how it compares to the wax based solution the dealer wants to offer me. The dealer's rustproof is also $599.... Sherlock seems like a good idea, my insurance have me a discount on the premium based on this. They are asking $299 for this option and engrave 50 places, just not sure I want to see engravings everyone I look, especially my side mirrors and windows. Anyone take any of these features or something else worth considering? Tony
  19. Don't know if we can or if it's even possible, but there should be a way to see what version software we are using, this would help ensure everyone is on the latest one. Maybe something to look into.
  20. Baba_ali By any chance, do you know what version software you are using / have installed in your car? I read some posts that said the my touch was a little "slow" and wondering if this is already an upgraded version correcting this and some other little things? Is there any way to tell what versions we have? I am also wondering, seeing how your dealer was able to update the software, does this mean all cars waiting to be produced (e.g. like mine which I just ordered this week) will or should have the newest software including all updates (like yours) downloaded to the car when it's being built BEFORE being delivered to me? Tony
  21. Just ordered my 2011 Limited and since we don't need the front plate in the province I live in, I told him that I would not accept the vehicle should it already have the plate drilled into the bumper. My dealer had about 3 2011's on their lot from the plant, 2 SEL, 1 Sport and they also had a Limited last week and not one of them had the plate installed on the front, however I did notice some 2010's with it? My dealer told me (who knows how credible this is) but I was told that for the 2010's, they all had the holes drilled then plugged where as the 2011's did not arrive to their dealer with any holes or plates up front. I made him write on the sales contract NO FRONT PLATE HOLES or bracket to be installed on my car, I told him I’d refuse delivery if I have to start plugging holes in the front end that didn't need to be there from the start. I hope for his sake it comes shipped without it.
  22. I know this is not the "best" place to ask but since we are on the subject of "owners manuals", can you please let me know where i can get the manual for my 2011 Limited FWD that i just ordered? Would love to read / glance it over prior to the car being delivered Thanks bunches!! Tony
  23. Actually, I'm from Brossard, my parents live in TMR. I just ordered my 2011 Limited last night and the girl who helped me out is out for the next week so maybe Ill ask their service department about this. What's scary is that I knew more about the car then they did, actually I knew more about the car than most people at the dealership...the 2011 is just so new that if you haven't been here reading each night like I have, they aren't that informed I find. I don't think enough people have the car yet and have substituted their 22's or 20's for 18" to run in the winter, I am NO WAY running my 20's in our type of winters and salt, need a pair of rims to play with in the snow and keep my 20's for summer. Been trying to speak with "Pat" / Controleur2001 as I know he has the exact same model I ordered with the same options but I believe he has already found some winter wheels that he will be using, I think they are new as well...Steel or Aluminum rims, don't remember off hand. I will be emailing him tomorrow for some more info and tips on what he is doing for the winter, I know he was working on this problem as well. My delivery should be end of November, early December I was told. Maybe we can all work together and find some solutions for the winter, I'm guessing that's why your looking into 18's as well? Maybe pick something up generic like all Black rims? Feel free to PM me anytime about this as well. Tony
