  1. Hey CanuckG35, just a question regarding your comment when picking up the vehicle at the dealer once it's delivered: I was "expecting" my dealer to also wash my truck once it arrived, not sure if they will but was hoping they would..now come to think of it, they'd prob wash it with a broom or something, dirty shamy that's got some rocks in it from being dropped a few times etc... Do you suggest I contact my dealer and tell them NO WASH before delivering it to me? I was "thinking" it would be best if it was clean so I can see the damages or scratches on it should it have any and them being hidden behind a bunch of dirt? What's the best option for me regarding having them clean it up and me finding any hidden scratches etc... Thanks! Tony
  2. Where is the best place to buy a nice simple, yet half decent quality hitch cover? I saw a 2010 Edge sport in a parking lot which had a trailer hitch cover on it - I snapped a few pictures of it shown below. I don't want anything fancy, blinged out, shapes or weird stuff. I want exactly what I see in these pics but not sure where to pick it up? It's my first hitch. Thanks!
  3. Hey Buzzman, Where did you get the intake system from? Saw your pics, the setup looks sweet and your car is really nice, love the White sport! Is the intake made specifically for the 2011 Edge? Would it work on a Limited Model and will using this intake void my warranty with Ford? I heard for Cold air intakes or new air setups like yours, you need to make sure it's approved with Ford first? Thanks!
  4. Hey Everyone! I need some help figuring out what I'll be doing with regards to rust proofing once my Edge arrives and have no idea what to do I live in Montreal, Quebec, winters are nasty and so is the salt they use on the road, it eats cars alive. The dealer is trying to sell me on their in house paraffin wax application done by them, I forget the brand right now (have the papers at home) but it runs $600 and they says it's "guaranteed" for something like 5 or 7 years if I remember right. They tried to "scare" me by saying that it's better that I go with this as they wont drill holes in the body of the vehicle as they dismantle the parts to apply it whereas if I go with an alternate brand (outside) that does drill holes (as most do), should something structural happen to the car my warranty would be voided, possibly the electronics to if the outside company over sprays on wires etc…which worried me based on how high tech the new Edge is. I got my old car rust proofed via chemical application, it's a nice rubbery compound and it ran me around $110.00 a year for my previous car and I had it done years on end, in a 5 years spent I spent over $500 on this stuff so doing it at the dealer for $600 would more or less come out to the same thing, it would just be in 1 payment vs. several. However, reading the net for suggestions, most people say the dealer stuff is crap and one of the top recommendations is Krown. Krown got tons of great reviews but they are in good company with a few other brands that people rated highly. The company I used to go with is DuraTech, not sure if only Montreal based but I had really liked the stuff but it was messy and you can almost taste it in the car for a few days..i also found the interior to get sorta "slimy" from the overspray. We have a company called "Metropolitain" here but it really blows, it's pure oil and people that have used it that I know personally, hate it. So, what are all of you doing with regards to rust proofing? Any advice, suggestions or feedback is welcome! Thanks! Tony

I had the same exact production date as you and this is the update i received this morning: In Transit - Shipped Rail - Railcar # TTGX159969 (Canadian National Railways ) Ramp 60, Oakville Asy, ON Oct-27-2010, 02:00 ET. ETA TBD. Yours may be on one of the railcars heading to Montreal as well....ETA is TBD, must be becuase not all the rail cars are filled yet.
  6. Wow, ok...just got a shocking update from Cyberdman this morning reg my Edge: In Transit - Shipped Rail - Railcar # TTGX159969 (Canadian National Railways ) Ramp 60, Oakville Asy, ON Oct-27-2010, 02:00 ET. ETA TBD. I gather then that the car is already produced and the "ETA TBD" means they don't have a departure date for the rail car yet as it's prob not full. Based on the status of my car, what would you say would be a close delivery date of it since it's only coming right next door to Montreal? I'm kind of excited but in the same time not really I was assured that it would not come in this early, funny thing my dealer called me yesterday evening to update me on the status of my order and they said it was going into production this week and I should see the car in 3 - 5 weeks from now, basically end of November or early December, just when I needed it but the actual status of my truck now has me worried a little. Don't get me wrong, I am dying to take ownership of it however I'm still missing a few thousand for my cash down (other half is from a bank loan) and I'm only supposed to have that money in December and dealer was fully aware of this prior to me ordering, this has got me a little worried now as I would have to find another way to pull up that cash as I don't want the car on their lot for a month…car you say plenty of test drives.
  7. I got the same feedback from my dealer but I heard they do have a little more room to play, not much but a few hundred. I got them to give me an extra $300 off since they tried to pull a fast one on me but that was it, I also ordered during the employee pricing event.

I ordered my Edge Limited on September 27th from Circuit Ford on Henri-Bourassa East Called dealer for my VIN around 8pm on October 14th, the claim to have just received it that evening (I doubt they would have called me with it, I followed up with them) Got my window sticker on October 18th Now, I have the upgraded 20's and the HID's ordered on it. The dealer told me the order had no delivery date, only an anticipated production date of October 25th. He said it was coded with some letters meaning an item was back ordered, he guessed it was the mags but wasn't sure and it didn't specify. To be honest, the later I get my car, the better, I didn't want it before New Years actually, I ordered when I did simply to get the employee pricing but I needed some money I was expecting in January to cover the down payment! If I get told there is a delay in some parts, no prob, but the dealer said it would get built and simply put aside waiting for the other parts to come in..that pisses me off. Build my car when you have all the parts, less risk of damages with a car sitting around doing nothing. I asked and was told when I ordered my car that it would only go into production in November as October was full, I was happy to hear that cause that was a concern when ordering, I would have had an extra month to save up and be closer to my money coming in. I don't know if the dealer push a rush on the order or coded it with a high priority but it's moving faster than I wanted...guess I'm the opposite of what most want lol. Tony
  9. Mystery solved...I think lol! So, next question...why on Fwd and not Awd.... That's the question....
  10. Sprinkle a hose on the windshield if you have one, you will be able to play with the intensity of the water to see how the sensor reacts to different amounts of "rain"

Holly crappers! When did you order your truck? I live in Montreal and ordered my truck on Sept. 29th. I got my VIN Oct. 14. I was told by the dealer the anticipated production date was today Oct. 25th BUT he saw a code on my order which meant something was back ordered on the truck. He said he had a production date and no delivery date. He asked me if I chose the 20" wheels instead of the stock 18's, I said yes and he said from what he had heard, these mags where back ordered. He said they would produce my truck and make it wait for the wheels, I was like that's crappy, where, in some lot out back in the elements as opposed to my heated garage? Now reading your email, maybe it's the HID's that are back order and not the rims, gonna make a call and see if I can get any updates. Think about it this way, maybe some of the bugs will be fixed before your truck is built, that's what I was hoping! I wouldn't remove the HID's, they are really nice and you should get the truck the way you wanted it. I wish the BLISS was back ordered, I don't want it any more.
  12. Same reason as me lol, well, that and the tow package.
  13. I totally agree! This would let people know if they've found a solution to a particular problem instead of making us guess what changed.
  14. My wife and I ordered it on September 27th and I believe the dealer was putting the order in on the 29th or so. He wasn't sure if the October production was filled yet or if we'd have our order put in with the November batches. As of yet, no calls, no vin and not sure which month it's being built. I'm excited to get it, but not in a mega rush..using the free time without it to plan my winter wheel setup which is finally almost done and finalize some home renovations which I'm sure will not be getting done to fast once my new Edge shows up lol, I have been without a car now for 5 months as my last one sold much faster than expected, when the Edge comes in it will be 7 so I am dying to hit the road when it shows up! I may call at the end of the month for an update, the girl I am dealing with is out of the office for 2 weeks I think so I’ll call when she gets back. Tony
  15. Excellent question! I would love to know this as well! My sales girl isn't to tech savy so I have no idea what to expect when I go to pick it up. I read that someone picked up their new 2011 and the sales person already had their Navi configured for them, connected their Iphone and a bunch of other stuff as well. I guess it will vary from place to place. I also read that someone went for their delivery and the car was outside sitting in the rain sorta dirty where another person had their car inside the garage all shined up for them. I wonder what I'll get when I pick mine up next month...
  16. Hey There, Well, after I posted my "rant / vent" regarding my concerns, I had a little too much to drink and wound up cancelling my order with Ford, I just couldn't take it anymore! I was certain that every new Edge was going to be a lemon so i didn't want to take any chances so I'm ordering a Kia instead. . . . . Ok, just kidding! Just want to say that I truly appreciate everyone chiming in after my post and reassuring me that things will be fine and not to worry. I also appreciate all the POSITIVE feedback people posted as it's one of the rare things you find on any forum like some of you stated and it feels good reading these things, it's a positive change to all the questions and problems we have seen the last few weeks..we should do a post like "What is your favourite thing about your new Edge" to get some GOOD feedback for those who haven't ordered one yet or still on the fence about it. I can tell you that the positive stuff in the last few posts have definitely made me feel better about my purchase and Im back to being somewhat excited again I guess we are the first to play around with this vehicle and discover some of its quirks and bugs, however since like someone mentioned, it's like a darn computer in your car, here's hoping to software patches and updates to stabilize everything and get the final small details sorted out like the KM vs. Miles reset for the Navi etc... So, I've read a post not to long ago about someone getting a software update to fix a problem they were having...was this update available to everyone or is everyone pretty much on the same "version" right now? Can we see which version we have and compare it to other people on the forum? I'm guessing the USA version and Canada version will prob differ slightly also. If we found a way to compare, it may help those with problems know if they have an older version installed. Whenever someone see's, does or finds out about an update, please make sure to let the rest of us know! Stupid question now...so, if all the same software / version is being used off the assembly line, how is it that some people have issues and others don't?? Why would it be working fine in some cars and not in others? This would go for any of the challenges we've read about so far. This is something I don't get? Did some of the software not "load" properly via wifi while going down the assembly line?

    Key Slot

Is the original poster asking if there is an actual ignition slot so you can manually crank the vehicle to start it instead of using the push button? Sorry, that's what i understood from reading the question. If this is not what he meant, can someone answer me if there is? Don't have my car yet but was wondering if there was a way to start car without the push button like the "old fashion" way?
  18. Hey bpattie, The wheels I bought do not include the TPM sensors. I have yet to see any wheels new or used to include them for that matter unless it was a direct take off which included the tire and a sale done "private", not like an EBay store or Tire Rack. The sellers are not stupid either, these sensors costs between $40 and $50 EACH so they would be silly to just hand them over with the purchase of new wheels, especially when you’re paying around $100 each wheel be it like my purchase or through Tire Rack. The sensors are almost half of the value of the wheel alone. I did find out through a forum member that the 2011 have a DIFFERENT style TPM than all the previous years so even if it came with the sensor, unless it was from a 2011 model (which you don't find used yet), the sensor would probably be useless to us. The 2010 and older models had a TPM which was attached to a big band that went around the inside of the rim. The 2011 model is now using a TPM that is a small unit which connects to the inside part of the valve. If you look on Tire Rack, you can also see a picture of each of the different sensors by simply searching for wheels for the 2010 and 2011 model Edge and when you see a pop up for the TPMS sensor, click on it to open the text and picture. My local dealer quoted me $52 each sensor, I heard cost was around $42 which I will push them to give me, heck, I just paid 40k for the truck, the least you can do is give me the crappy sensors at cost. The Loonie is hovering at par today, gotta get my tires ordered quickly from Tire Rack!!! My DM-V1’s are $118 each USD and closer to $200 in Canada, and I’m 30 minutes away from the border! Oh ya, my dealer here in Montreal quoted me $495 for each 17” rim NEW if I ordered from them, I paid less than that for all 4 and they’re as good as new. Crazy.
  19. Well....I did it!! I just bought my set of winter rims!! I spent some time of Tire Rack contemplating which set to get along with a few days on EBay looking for original OEM rims which for some reason I felt more comfortable with. After deciding to go OEM, I was torn between the 18" Limited Chrome wheels or the 17" SE painted wheels. The Chrome was selling out of California for $595 USD, plus another $130 shipping, the set is CLEAN and the seller has awesome feedback, but his price was close to double when compared to other sellers offering the same product more or less. If the price was a tad lower for this particular set, I would probably have taken them. I continued to look, found a set of 17" OEM rims at a wicked low price (or least for me it was lol). The set is CLEEEEEEAN! I called the seller, a Ford dealership with a dedicated EBay division, they told me that 99.9% these wheels were never used. The tags that are on each wheel when the car is being built at the factory are still on the rims! The dealer usually takes them off when the car is delivered and detailed prior to handing the car over to the client. They believe that these wheels arrived to the dealer and were immediately taken off...what they call a "take off" wheel. Here is the link to the rims I bought, $342 USD for the set of 4 with center caps! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350386516015 Scroll down to see the add / listing and pics Oh ya, for fitment issues, I was told to try transwheel.com They had specs on almost every rim and when I looked up the Ford Edge 2011 Aluminium rims (in the catalogue), the rims I ordered are mentioned as 2007 - 2011 wheels and from what I can tell, almost every year the SE has been made, it looks like the same rim was used. Can't wait to get the wheels, next will be the tires!
  20. It's posts like this and many others that have made me second guess my decision to buy this car. About 2 months ago I was beyond excited and loved the look of the remodel, couldn't wait to place my order which I did and with each passing day on this forum I get some regrets. Maybe regrets is a strong word but more discouraged then for a lack of better words. The post I quoted is 100 % true, it's very concerning for a 40k plus vehicle and that's what's really bothering me. Back up cameras faulty, navigation is not that good, touch is slow, has lag, buttons are hard, Bluetooth cells hardly work, and just to think about having to pull a fuse to reboot raises the hair on my neck. Maybe I'm looking way to into this but I am venting since I would never expect this from this car at this price. Will any of this stuff ever get fixed? What can we expect from updates, patches, firmware etc. I wonder if Ford even knows all this since many people are just pulling fuses to reboot instead of going back to the dealer. My sister in law just bought a Volkswagen Tiguan and I can tell you the touch screen in that car works really well. Smooth, fast, very bright and nice display to look at, I had hoped for the same experience but now not sure that's going to happen. My wife wanted the 2010 at a killer deal for closeout and warned me about all the new gadgets, since I am the gadget type of guy I couldn't resist the 2011 but all I need now is for her to say "I told you so" Sorry for the negativity, like I said I'm just venting. I adore this car, mine is bought and will be delivered soon but this thread can be depressing at times lol. Ok, I'm done, rant over, going to have a beer now lol. Tony
  21. I'm still trying to make up my mind reg my winter wheel selection Is there any real benefit to buying 17" rims over the 18's? Granted, the 18" wheels will cost a little more for both the wheel and the tire but money aside, will I have better traction, digging, ploughing or driving with the 17" ? 17" seem to be a popular choice on this forum for dedicated winter setup and the recommended choice when you look at tire rack. I am torn between going with used 18" 2010 limited wheels in chrome or used 17" 2010 SE wheels painted. I like the 18" chromes for the look more than anything so the car still looks sweet in the winter but granted it's only for a few months, maybe 4 max but then attracted to the price of the 17" wheels but not so much the look, however it's not terrible. Help please..I need convincing either way!! Tires are decided upon, it will be the DM-V1's. What do I do??!?
  22. Does anyone know 100% for certain that a wheel from the 2007 - 2010 Ford Edge will fit without a doubt on the 2011's? I am looking for used OEM wheels and found something i liked from a 2010 but need to know for certain they will fit without any problems. I would be buying a set of 18" wheels from 2010 model to be winter rims on my 2011 which i ordered with 20's. From all my searching, looks like the offsets are the same and wheel width, however a dealer told me the "hub" had changed or is a different part number. Has anyone actually seen or tested a 2010 or older wheel on the 2011's? Thanks!
  23. Don't have the info here with me (at work) but the answer i was told is NO 2010 was on a "belt", 2011 models are done on the inner valve stem and different module. You can see the difference between them on Tire Rack and it was confirmed to me by someone who just bought them but I wasn't given the Ford part #. I was planning on posting this later in the 2010 Edge / MKX forum in the winter tire thread. Tony
  24. Hey CanuckG35, Any news on the group buy by any chance? Oh ya, i just went onto Tire Rack this morning and tried to build a package for the 2011 Edge Limited AWD, it actually looks like they may have it setup finally, i was told when i called last week it would be within the month, i think it's ready now. Do me a favour, just to make sure I'm not "seeing" things, do you wanna confirm that Tire Rack is now officially set up with the 2011 Ford Edge info regardless of what model you own? Thanks! Tony
  25. I may be in on this! I spoke to a guy named "Wess", he seemed really nice, by any chance is this the guy your reffering to? Tony
