  1. Our caliper sliders were corroded and destroyed the rears at only 25k miles. Ford would not cover the pads and rotors under warranty even though they were verified to have plenty of life left only 1 week prior and obviously failed due to a malfunctioning part that was covered under warranty (the caliper slider). This is why I will never purchase another Ford vehicle again in my lifetime.

  2. Mark me down from the previously happy to the totally disgusted with our Edge category sadly. After a couple years of driving and low miles our Edge is falling apart at the seams. Yes, there's been MyTouch issues which weren't a big deal but chalk up fuel line leaks, cracking open the engine to replace the head gasket, a different oil leak, a PTU failure in AWD system, multiple issues with the rims/tires leaking air and now a brake caliper slider pin failure that roached our pads (which were JUST checked and verified as fine) that Ford in their wisdom decided they won't cover since pads are a "wear item" even though the wearing was due to a warranty failure. As I stated elsewhere, even with Z plan I have no intentions of ever providing Ford with another dollar if this is how they intend to produce and back their products.

  3. Sounds familiar. Our once enjoyable Edge Sport has turned into a comedy of errors and breakdowns. The most recent being the rear caliper pins seizing locked and burning the break pads and rotor up. (Took multiple trips before they would investigate at 2 different dealers) I've been told they'll fix the the issue (our Edge is still well under warranty) and "as a courtesy" machine the rotors but pads aren't covered and will be $150+ even though they are now worn due to the stuck pins and were JUST inspected less than 500 miles ago and told they were fine with plenty of life left. Even with Z plan I have no intention of ever purchasing another Ford vehicle again. Sadly, I can honestly say I've had better warranty coverage with Chrysler of all companies than Ford. Utterly ridiculous.

  4. It's likely buildup that just needs burned off. Warping of rotors is something that virtually never happens but rather uneven buildup of break pad material over time, especially if it sits for a while and moreso if it sits when wet.

    Here's a good description of how to bed your breaks to clear that off. Just be safe and smart, do it where there is no traffic and in good weather.

  5. Here is all the info I have. (There is more including putting on the bead sealant among other things) Online it's listed at several places but not the entire TSB without paying for it so if anyone has the updated one from last year please feel free to post it.

    Vehicles: 2009-2011 Ford Edge and Mercury MKX
    Condition: Corrosion and on the lip of 22-inch rims and whiskers/vents on the tire’s bead seat may cause the TPMS to illuminate.
    Solution: Disassemble the rim and tire and clean the rim and tire bead seats with a maroon Scotch-Brite pad.
    This is an update/replacement for TSB 11-05-16 mentioned earlier in this thread.
  6. Others are correct as I've used A plan (now Z) many times. The price is preset plus you get any public promos (such as Ford rebate money) but oil changes are usually a dealer addon which aren't included unless the dealer adds it. Also note that doc fees are preset under A plan so you'll save a little there as well. Anything else (extended warranties, etc) are NOT part of A plan and can be sold at whatever the dealer can get for them.

For anyone interested, apparently the TSB for this issue has been updated and now aside of dismounting the tires and cleaning/sanding the rims they are putting on some kind of sealant that smells like death. Time will tell if it works and moreso, when the tires are replaced how this will hold up but info none the less. I'll try to get the tsb number when I can find the paperwork.

  8. I wouldn't be too worried. As others said, it will break in a little with time not to mention with the cold air your mileage is worse because the power is better. Be sure to check the tires for proper inflation but otherwise I'd give it a few thousand miles before becoming too concerned.

  9. Honestly, no idea how my Chrysler does it but it does in fact know. The first time I rotated them I intentionally left 1 wheel with different pressure to see if it updated and sure enough it did. I know there's a sensor in each valve stem but beyond that, got me. And I replaced the sensors a while back due to faulty valve stem caps corroding and getting stuck and they weren't expensive. Makes me wonder how Ford overlooked that one with everything else the vehicle is capable of. Knowing the PSI through the vehicle info is nice because I know which one is low and exactly how low. The horn honk when full thing from Mazda is cool too IMO but mine updates within a few seconds so it's not a huge deal other than I have to check back in the car during pumping air which stinks.
