  1. Got updated to 2.8 yesterday. Don't see any improvements. On the contrary: 1.- Voice promps for Nav are now not working. It tries to prompt and turns down the audio volume, but nothing comes out. Took me a while to figure out why my audio volume kept lowering. All system volumes set correctly. 2.- Contact photos from phone no longer show up. 3.- Still has serious background noise on receiving end of phone calls. 4.- Nav still gets lost in some field somewhere
  2. Seems like a very poor implementation of Auto A/C either way. Goal should be to get cabin temp to set point as fast as possible, then adjust accordingly. At least this is the way any of my other vehicles handle this task. I'll have the dealer check out the interior temp sensor. Maybe it is bad.
  3. Just another screw-up on Ford's part I guess! Why on earth would they not use cabin temp to control cabin temp? Outside temp can be an input, but ultimately the two are not related. I've never had a car that anoyed me so much on a daily basis.
  4. Got my car last October in Michgan and the weather is finally getting warm again. I have my Auto Temp set to 66F and with the cabin way above 80F, the system will only have the fan at about 50% without any re-circ. I have to manually requet Max A/C for the cabin to cool down. Then, when I return to Auto A/C, the temp is set to "LO" and I have to manually re-set my temp. Does my car have another software problem or is the system set up to work this way?
  5. Also, there is an additional offset that can be adjusted for the 8in screen only. Unfortunately, this offset will only be applied randomly (at least through V2.4). I have not figured out what causes it to be applied or not. Another undocumented benefit, I guess.
  6. Actually, the IP dimming and headlights are not related. I have noticed various times that my headlights were on and IP was still fully lit.
  7. I have also found no idicator that tells me if my auto-headlights are on or not.
  8. The background noise while using the Bluetooth Phone connection got a lot worse when I had 2.4 installed. People on the other end are telling me I sound like I'm in a wind tunnel just before and after I speak. Did anyone have this issue with 2.4 and does 2.8 fix this?
  9. I had the v2.7 update done a few days ago. Since then I am getting complaints that the hands-free phone connection is terrible. Lots of background noise and sound like I'm in the end of a tunnel. Used to be excellent! Anyone else have this issue since v2.7 upgrade?
  10. I also continue to have this issue intermittendly. Hope they have a fix soon.
  11. My car was also pretty perfect when I picked it up. I've had it for just over 4 month now and at this point I'm just curious what will not work when I get in the car next. Unfortunately, its all intermittend which makes it very difficult to get fixed.
  12. Maybe, but there is plenty of people having issues and accepting them because they feel Ford is "leading edge" with the technology. Ford would never accept that excuse from one of its suppliers.
  13. I must say that I can't blame dkor. I wish I had never gotten this Edge. I came out of a Mazda CX-9 that I drove for 90K miles without any issues. Now that the software is upgraded, the MFT is tolerable. I still find the extremely slow response, especially after start-up, very anoying. The voice control is very inconsistent and I usually give up and use manual input.. I don't have any wind noise or drivetrain clunk issues. Driveability is very good. The intermittend software issues continue though and the overall quality of the vehicle is marginal. There are aleady various squeeks and rattles, the right blinker stopped working for a while, the nav keeps loosing the GPS signal, the center screen does not dim correctly at night, etc, etc, etc. I don't understand all the owners on this forum that just accept the poor quality of this vehicle. I also don't understand the overall love for MFT. Yes, when it actually works, it has some very nice features but I feel that it goes a few steps too far and is very distracting to use while driving. I really miss normal buttons for key functions.
  14. No gloves. No dirt on the door handle either. Seems to work normally again since this morning.
  15. I've had my Edge Limited for over 2 months now and today the doors would not unlock when grabbing the door handle. I tried locking and unlocking various times and most of the time it would not unlock. Keyfob unlock works fine. Weather here is cold and snowy, but it has been this way for a while and this is the first time I've had this issue. Anyone else have any issues with this?
  16. Coming out of a Mazda CX-9, I find that the Auto-Headlights turn on later than I would like them to. I had the Gen 2 update done a few weeks ago and it seems to have fixed most of the big issues. So far only one re-boot. 3 minor issues remain: 1.- Sporatically, the Ipod shows disconnected eventhough it is not. 2.- 50% of the time the main screen will not dim to the correct level when the headlights turn on. 3.- It takes some convincing for the phone and nav menus to come up in the right IP screen when using steering wheel controls.
  17. FMVSS has nothing to do with POIs not being listed in order of distance to the target city, traffic info being much less accurate, screen layout being easier to read, etc. I am definitely more distracted trying to find my requested destination in line 28 than I am with my TomTom 550T.
  18. If I had to do it over again, I would save the $700 and just get one of the high end TomTom units. I don't get why the OEMs don't learn from companies like TomTom how to do Nav right.
  19. Had the software update done last week. So far, no more re-boots and most fuctions seem to work as intended. Haven't really noticed it being so much faster. 2 issues remain: 1.- About 50% of the time, the main screen does not dim correctly when headlights are on. 2.- Still getting a message that my Ipod is disconnected eventhough music is playing from it. Only way to remove the message is to unplug the ipod. Now I'm hoping that Ford can get to actually improving some of the functionality.
  20. Thats why the forums have topics. Start a topic on the positive experiances and hope its not hijacked.
  21. If it was a normal engine or transmission problem it would hopefully get fixed quickly in one visit. If failure rate would exceed 4% at 12 month in service for the vehicle population, then a recall would be mandatory. If it wasn't fixed in a visit or 2, then people would also start bitching. If they were told to live with the problem until Ford could release a new component sometime down the road, then you would get the same kind of response.
  22. Not sure I would call it a "scam", but I don't expect to buy a new car and have majorly anoying issues, no matter how high tech it is supposed to be. There is many cars out there with issues ranging from complete non-function to occational errorswith the MFT. This sysytem is nowhere ready for prime time in the automotive industry. Just because we accept the junk coming from Microsoft does not mean we accept it in a car. There is many more options for consumers when buying a car and launching a product with this level of quality is unacceptable. Ford clearly did not complete testing to the required standards. Until very recently, customers were being told by the dealers that there is currently no fix and not to bring the vehicles in for service. This also allows Ford not to show really bad warranty numbers for this vehicle though. I sure hope Ford finds a way to apologyze to the many customers with issues.
  23. Clearly not 1 or 2. My local Ford dealer has 6 where the screen never comes up. 30+ more like mine where the systems re-boots multiple times per day. Same story from the Lincoln dealer.
  24. Was told by my dealer that I should NOT update my car. He is claiming that they have tried the update on vehicles with partial functionality (like mine) and after installation, the system did not work at all anymore (continuous black screen). Not sure I believe him. I am checking with a contact at Ford directly.
  25. Its interesting that my issues keep getting worse. Re-boots started out once or twice per week. Now it happens at every start and in many cases will re-boot multiple times in a row. If it used-ta-could, there should be a way to make it work better again. So far the fuse 29 pull or master reset have not improved the issue. Maybe I'll try removing the fuse overnight.
