  1. Could be a dry rubber mount for the front sway bar. Try spraying some oil on the several rubber mounts. If this doesn’t help, it may be a strut upper mount problem.
  2. Two years ago, i decided to replace the original front struts with Monroe quick struts. I thought it was good to use these instead of replacing the shock in the strut. Right off the installation, one was bad. They replaced it for free after i returned the defective one. Two years later the other side started making a noise. It was difficult to determine where it was coming from. I had kept the old strut assemblies and i put an old one in and the noise was gone. So another quick strut was defective after two years and only 4,000 kms. I decided then to replace the shocks in the old strut assemblies with genuine ford products and put them in. Rides better and no more noises. I would not buy the monroe products again.
  3. We have a 2010 sport. It has been very good with a great ride, no noises inside at all, like a tank in the winter with snow tires and the mileage is better than my ranger. Like others, the front emblem is wearing again. Twice under warranty but that is easily replaced. Why ford would want cars running around with worn off emblems, is just plain bad promotion of their product. I also would like more light in the back as there is basically none back there and difficult in the dark. From what i see in this forum, maybe a new one is just not good for us.
  4. The Monroe's seem every bit as good as the OEM and especially since the OEM ones were likely getting worn out. I changed the rear shocks as well but i got OEM motorcraft ones from Rock Auto. Ford does not sell a strut assembly that i could find here in Canada. It seems to ride better now and you can feel its much more solid. Believe it or not but the price for just the strut and not the mount, boot, etc here was $190 plus 13% tax. The Monroe quick-strut assembly here ranged from $ 360 to $390 plus 13%. Rock Auto was less than half that price. The new strut assembly is fine so the other one was defective. I'll give Monroe a pass for now. Their allowed one. Their technical help was good too.
  5. I have standard 22" rims on my 2010 Edge sport. For winter tires, i bought some 18" Lincoln MKX chrome rims on kijiji that also had the TPMS sensors for $150. I have no issues with the calipers rubbing. I reset the TPMS sensors each time i change from winter to summer. I bought the do hickey from Ford to pick up the sensors in learn mode. The only issue i have is now the speedometer is out about 5 Kms per hour too slow. With the snow tires on the edge and the AWD systems, its like a tank and nothing will stop it!
  6. 2FAST4U - i think the 22"'s look good. My 2010 Edge Sport came with the factory 22" rims and that is what we liked about the vehicle. My wife was the one that picked it out. I get lots of questions about whether they are after market or not and comments that they look great. Of course, replacement tires can be a bit expensive.
  7. I put in the Monroe Quick-Strut replacement today. This time I jacked up both passenger and drivers side. The replacement strut assembly was to go on the drivers side. The replacement went in easily. Raising the passenger side took off the upward pressure on the drivers side thereby allowing the strut base bolts to go in very easily. So no body work ( I am the original owner and never had an accident so i knew this was not an issue), no monroe design spec change or defect, just make sure you jack up both sides so there is equal pressure on the front suspension.
  8. I am the original owner and there has not been any body work. Also, as i said, the original strut had the same issue when i put it back in. Perhaps its the AWD.
  9. I put monroe quick-struts on my 2010 Ford Edge sport. I had an issue with the driver side so i had to send it back to Rock Auto. A replacement is on its way. I had no issue with the passenger side. If the replacement has the same upper mount problem, then i will not use monroe ever again. I went with the quick-struts for ease of installation and thought the original mounts would need replacing soon anyway. This may not have been a good idea. I will keep you posted on the replacement. Also, i found the installation of the drivers side was much harder than the passenger side. For some reason there is about a half inch issue to line up the bolts. This required a pry bar and an assistant. I thought maybe this was also an issue of the Monroe strut but when i had to put the original strut assembly back in, it was the same way.

    cylinder numbering

I just had an issue today with a cylinder misfire on my 2010 Edge Sport. The misfire was number six and i had just installed new motor craft spark plugs. I assumed it was the coil pack then. After installing the coil pack, there was no change. I moved the Spark plug from position 6 to 5 and that became the cylinder misfiring so obviously it was a bad spark plug. I replaced the plug and the problem was solved. I should have replaced the plug first since now i have a new coil pack I didn't really need. However i am approaching 170,000 Kms and coil packs tend to go at 180,000 Kms so i have a spare for now.
  11. I am just in the process of replacing my front struts. I purchased the Monroe Quick-Struts and installed them myself. The drivers side was making the same noise you are talking about. You could observe that as the wheel was turned the spring would move about half an inch and then snap back making a clunking noise. This was a brand new Monroe strut assembly! I have just sent it back for replacement. I hope the replacement is better. The other side was fine. Its obviously the upper mount bearing assembly is defective. I bought the whole assembly so it would be easier to install and thought the mount or the springs would have to be replaced soon anyway. My 2010 Edge Sport has 170,000 Kms or 105,000 miles.
  12. My first car was a 1969 Pontiac Beaumont (Canadian only ) which is similar to a chevelle. It had not power steering or brakes. The only option was only a radio. I did put snow tires all the way around for the winter. It was a tank in the snow. I wish i still had it but just as a toy because the Red Edge Sport i have now has everything and with snows on it, its unstoppable in the winter.
  13. I take my 22" off in the winter and put on 18" rims with Toyo snows. . The 22's tires are wide and would tend to float on the snow. With the Toyo snows the edge was like a tank in the snow. It plowed through 3 ft drifts this year. I didn't really see a difference in mileage with the wheels since mileage drops in the winter anyway due to warming cycles. I like the look so i am going to stick with my 22's for the summer.
  14. winter is over and I put my 22" rims back on my Edge Sport. I purchased the learning tool/fob last fall from the dealer. I downloaded the instructions on putting the edge in learning mode, went through the process and used the tool on each wheel, honk at each wheel and done. It took all of 5 mins. TPMS system is running. I put on 18" lincoln rims for the winter with TPMS sensors so the system was working in the winter. This was my first time to program the system. This turned out better than i thought. I also learned that you can rotate the tires and the TPMS will not give you an error message.
  15. Can you post any pictures? I am interested in dropping mine at least 2" to close some of the huge gap around the wheels. I have the 2010 Sport model that comes with the 22" rims and i think that a 2" drop would make this look good and improve the handling.
