I did a master reset the other day because the nav system would only work now and them, mostly then... I do have the latest software update btw. After the reset the auto driver's seat back/forward disappeared. After reading this posting resetting the Edge was easy a) get in and turn accessory on move the seat a bit (I did up and forward slightly) and press the desired seat memory button till you hear the ding. c) remove the key and the driver's seat should move all the way back. This reset feature is not documented by Ford Thanks to the contributors on this board!.

Sorry Torontoguy, I think you're out of luck. The problem is likely a switch with faulty circuitry. We had the same problem and the dealer replaced the part. I didn't even get out of the parking lot and the "new" part didn't work. They replace it again and apparently the mechanic said, "well the first one fit sort of funny." Took a couple of hours to replace too!

I successfully updated our '11 Edge Sync with the Ford provided usb stick and sd nav card. The new display has some oddities and it is a one way street - once you install it there is no going back! So now I have an obsolete 16gb SD nav card that only works in my Edge. Thought I might as well recycle the card and reformat it and use it in my Canon camera - not! The card is securely what it is, a nav program. I have not even been able to delete a file, write a test text file to the card, let alone reformat it. Any one out there who has figured out how to reuse the card?

Ah, I was afraid of that. Seems to defeat the idea of wallpaper. Thanks for the answer Dingo.

Got my package last Friday and installed it yesterday - no problems! However, now the wallpaper picture of my grandkids is opaque with icons and wording in front. Anyone else with this "problem" and have a fix?

We got our '11 Edge Limited, with HIDs, last December. I found the HIDs too high and first chance had the dealer lower them. They were then too low so next trip, up one notch. Everything is ok now but the Edge HIDs do not have self leveling. The really odd thing about Edge HIDs, is the high beam function. The HIDs use a shutter to change the focus distance as there are no separate high beam bulbs. Most European cars (with HIDs) have separate QI highlights as I believe high beam HIDs are not legal in Europe.

Contents of an email received from Ford. "I apologize for the issue that you are having with the My Ford Touch system in your vehicle. I have done the research and show that you have a very outdated version of the SYNC system installed. The most current version would be Gen2 2.11, and you are running Gen2 2.3. There has been an update released to your local dealership to correct the problems that you are having. I would highly suggest that you contact your dealership to set up an appointment to have Gen2 2.11 installed."

In March I used the program Mp3tag to add cover album art to every mp3 song. That worked well until recently and I have noticed the system has noticeably slowed down. Earlier today I had the suspicion that displaying the album cover art was causing Sync some problems so I copied all the mp3 songs from my Kingston 8gb to the PC harddrive and then reformatted the usb stick. Next I used Mp3tag to remove all the album art from the songs and then recopied them back to the usb stick. Went for a drive and had to wait a while for Sync to reindex the usb. Eventually, when it showed the correct # of songs and began playing at #1, I asked "Frantic Ford" to play song "The River". She repeated back a different song. So I asked her again and this time she simply went away and the display showed song 0 and of course, no sound. I pressed the left side of volume control to advance the song and it began playing. A song later - pause, play again - pause, skip to new song. So much for my hunch. As I got out of the car I pressed the master system reset. Tomorrow we are driving East about 2 hours so I will report whatever the results are. I can confirm that when a song pauses the backup camera does too - I almost crunched my garage door and no proximity warning!

Thanks for the info Spooki11. Here is our situation, our '11 Edge will be at the dealer's next week. A couple of days ago the sound system (playing an usb/sd card) would simply quit and then resume all by itself. It did this 3 or four times and then yesterday I got the system message "Microsoft performing system maintenance". This morning the sound failed twice and one more "Microsoft" message. This afternoon, I started the car and the screen went blank and then the following message appeared "System Fault 10.10.2008". The touch screen was dead as was the phone, navigation system, backup camera, radio volume, basically anything controlled by the touchscreen. I could still get the radio to play using the steering wheel controls, but only one station on either FM1 and FM2. The cd player worked but you could not forward/reverse to another song After 10 minutes or so the screen came back on and eventually the phone re-connected. We arrived at our 2nd shopping stop and upon restarting, the same screen as above and no screen functionality. I sent the above to Ford, no reply yet. Check out the black screen of death!

The system comes back and everything works, but it has done this "10.10.2008" 3 times now. I can't get to the dealer until next week but they know that I am NOT HAPPY! I listen to usb music most often and I noticed the other day, just before the "10.10.2008", that the music would cut out for a few seconds and then continue. I thought it was the sd card in a usb converter device but now I'm thinking it is the Sync system itself. Yes, seeing "Good Morning New User" is a bit unsettling but the bluetooth phone came back. I don't use the next-to-useless nav system so I haven't checked to see if it has lost my home location...

I won't go into the series of faults we've eperienced the last couple of days (2011 Edge Limited, purchased in Dec 10), but has anyone had experience with: "System Fault 10.10.2008" ?

I am pretty sure you can only reprogram if one of the remotes is functioning correctly. As both of mine were u/s reprogramming via the Edge doesn't work. Update: I managed to get the Edge to a local dealer (I purchased the car in a different city an hour away) and they reprogrammed both remotes. The service guy (not the guy who reprogrammed the units) said they didn't know what happened but the keys "drifted off frequency" - hmmm. I have not yet tried the remote starter which I believe caused the original problem. The remote starter is an aftermarked device installed by my Ford dealer.
