  1. In a Ford press release dated June 17, 2013 they definitely state an update is coming; Quality progress Ford continues to refine SYNC and MyFord Touch, including another downloadable upgrade planned for this summer. Previous upgrades already have helped improve quality responses by more than 50 percent. Read the entire release here
  2. When I first took my Edge into the dealership (two months ago) to have them look at the camera problem, they told me the camera hadn't been activated and asked me if I had the camera replaced at some point. The camera wasn't replaced, and it had been working fine for a couple of years until recently. The tech did reactivate the camera and everything worked fine for a couple of weeks, then the guidelines and zoom stopped working again and the camera intermittently goes offline altogether. Since the vehicle is out of warranty, it's going to cost $300+ for the camera replacement. Oi! Incidentally, the problem started even before I had the 3.5.1 update applied.
  3. I had my 2011 into my dealer yesterday for some MFT voice recognition issues, and they updated me to 3.5.1 plus the new nav card. I don't know if it's coincidence, but now my Travel Link services are active and working. I'm in the Toronto area, and the services have only worked sporadically in the past, I assume while they were testing the system. Whether or not the services remain active remains to be seen, but at least for now things look good.
  4. My ride is a 2011 Limited with MFT updated to the 3.2.2. Over the past few days I've noticed the red, yellow and green guidelines that used to show up in the rear camera display are no longer showing. All I get is the raw video from the camera with no overlay. I've verified the setting to show the guidelines is turned on, and I've tried to cycle the setting with no change. Additionally, I've noticed the Visual Park Aid Alert setting won't stay set to on, it keeps turning itself off. I haven't tried resetting MFT yet, all I've tried is cursing at the thing and apparently that doesn't work. Has anyone else experienced anything like this before? Thanks.
  5. I would get the car in to your service department as soon as possible before corrosion sets in and causes more damage. If your wife takes sugar in her coffee that might gum things up even more. Hopefully, there's someone at your service department who is able to, and willing to try cleaning up any liquid damage rather than swapping parts out and charging big bucks. Let us know how it works out.
  6. I had the factory towing package installed on my 2011. All the specs said it would be a Class II (1 1/4") receiver, but it turned out to be a Class III (2") receiver that was installed. I just checked the Ford website, and they are still saying it's a Class II they install. Hey - I'm not complaining.
  7. For those of us who are eager to get their fingers on the MyTouch update, Ford has released a free simulator app for iOS devices; iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. It's an interactive app called MFT Guide that allows you to navigate through the new screens. They refer to the new system as MyFord Touch SYNC G2, version 3.0.2. Best of all - we can finally put a face to voice behind the MFT girl, albeit an animated face.
  8. I've noticed the same thing on my Nav system, so it's not just yours. I always thought it would be fun to hear what NavGirl would say if you asked for directions to Saint Street. Overall, I've been surprised how accurate the pronunciation has been, especially with people's last names.
  9. Yes, you can drive while applying the 2.11 update. You just won't have access to any of the MFT functions. I did notice the radio kept playing during the installation.
  10. Thanks for the update rwolson. I applied the update and it worked like a charm - Sirius now tunes stations correctly as per my voice commands.
  11. If you're likely to be doing any kind of towing, I'd stay away from the 4 banger.
  12. I've been keeping an eye on the weathertech.com website, and I see they now offer DigitalFit Floorliners for the 2011 Edge. I've never used WeatherTech products, but have been told by a local shop they make quality stuff. The website specifies their floor mats only work with the dual floor post retention devices, but I'm assuming all of the '11 models use the same snap-in mat holders. Does anyone know otherwise?
  13. I just downloaded and installed iOS 4.3 on my iPhone and found it's got new MyFordTouch capabilities. Instead of just allowing pause, play and skip when playing Bluetooth streaming audio, I'm now able to fast forward and reverse through the audio too - a definite plus. I haven't had a chance to try Phonebook pictures, or SMS to voice yet, but a guy can be hopeful, right?

  15. I have noticed that audio distortion too on a couple of occasions. Both times the audio coming from the rear passenger side door speaker was terribly distorted for the first few minutes after starting the car (2011 Edge Limited AWD). The sound was annoying so I turned the volume right down for a bit, then when I cranked the volume back up a few minutes later, it was fine. Like I said, I only remember the happening twice. I know for sure the last time it happened the outside temperature was about -20 C, so I put it down to some sort of weather related issue. I'll make a note of the circumstances if and when the distortion comes back.
  16. Both the passenger side doors on my '11 Edge were missing some screws holding down the chrome trim strips below the windows. The strips were loose, and visually misaligned. I was going to just find matching screws and do it myself, but decided to stop in at my dealer. They ordered in a couple of sets of correct screws an installed them the following day.
  17. I'm wondering if this is anything like the Visualizer in iTunes that displays funky beat-syncronized patterns on your computer's display when playing music. If that's the case, I can understand why it may have been disabled in Sync. Those patterns can be a bit hypnotizing, and we all like to drive with our eyes on the road and ours hands upon the wheel.
  18. I've had a few Touch issues, but no show stoppers. My nav system said it couldn't see an SD card a couple of time, even though the card was fully inserted. After a couple of engine on/off cycles it found the card again. I don't recall for sure, but I think both times it lost the SD card I was using USB audio to control my iPhone. If it happens again I'm going to try to notice a pattern.
  19. I ordered my 2011 Limited with the factory trailer hitch receiver. All of the documentation says it's a Class II (1 1/4") receiver, but when the car arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see a Class III (2") receiver. Nice!
  20. Just checked my '11 Limited, and there's no air dam there.
