Yeah I looked into the Ford unit and found out it sucked royally. Sorry we couldnt help you sooner. I paid $503 for a python 872 and it does way so much more than the Ford unit, makes the Ford unit seem like a Fisher-Price toy. Best buy is a ripoff for Alarm installation. They wanted to charge me $649 for the exact same alarm install for $503 that I paid somewhere else. Actually the install I had done for $503 had more add-ons included than the Best Buy price of $649..... If Best Buy would have added the 2 extra options (hatch pop, defogger turn on) I had included for free in the $503 price I would have paid over $700.

I just bought a Python 872 (same as a Viper 5701) and it was $503 installed. It will start from over 2000 feet away, pops the rear hatch, turns on the rear defogger if the internal temp is below 55' when starting. The remote tells you if the vehicle started, if it is armed, un-armed, internal temp. I was going to let this subject die until you added your $0.02. Dont tell people what kind of car they can shop for, who are you to say what person buys what? Also I wasnt just interested in 1/4 mile times, I just thought they would have been better with the amount of HP this vehicle puts out.

If you guys are not interested in Mods or Performance why are you looking at the 3.5L mod area, just to argue and shoot people down who want some performance or who want to discuss performance or you just following where I post on the forum? If Ford wasnt interested in performance why do they keep uping the HP on the Edge, why does it need paddle shifters if is is designed to be an Econobox? I bought it for the comfort, performance and looks (mainly the looks)...... if all I wanted was pure HP for drag racing I would have never traded in my 2001 Corvette for this car. Just because it is a Crossover doesnt mean it cant have any performance, ever look at the Porsche Cayenne, it is one hell of a crossover!

No I am not 16. Reading my Edge dealers pamphlet it states "Behind the fresh face a new 3.5l ti-vct engine delivers 285 HP "The best standard HP in its class" It also states "Maximum V6 efficiency and power no one in the class can beat"! It also talks about the new "Selectshift Automatic" and how it it is truly an engaging drive! They also talk about "paddle Shifters" Later in the pamphlet it talks about the 3.7l with 305HP. They also talk about how much torque it has..... Hmm never seen an econobox that is all about fuel economy talk about HP so much, paddle shifters and Torque. The Edge also gets the 3.7l Engine out of the Mustang, later they talk about adding the Ecoboost engine. All performance and MPG. Now with all of this hype out of the Dealer pamphlet and stuff right from Ford it is all about power and performance along with good MPG out of the Edge. Well my 1992 Mustang GT weighed just under 4000(Stereo Equipment and a Passenger) and it ran 13.4 in the 1/4 mile all day and that was at 300HP with the correct gearing. Since the Edge is at 285HP it could hit the mid to low 14's if it was geared correctly. P.S. I still got approx 23/24MPG out of the Mustang!

Child lock off or on still has the same result. Let me know exactly what your dealer did or said what was wrong if you get any service done to it.

yeah it does it turned on or off on the safety lock. Dealer said there may have been ice in that 1 door, just that 1 door. So I parked it so the Sun blasts that side of the Edge all day and have left it run with the heat on till it was so hot inside..... same issue.

It has been to the dealer. Funny how it made the noise for the service writer but when the tech looked at it there was nothing wrong. The tech lubed up the mechanism and said there was nothing wrong with it even though the service writer experienced the issue, now it is doing it again. I was just seeing if this was an issue with any other owners. It is my rear passenger door.

The new Viper/Python alarms have a temp probe where if the vehicle is below 55 degrees the rear defogger will turn on, if it above 55 degrees it will not turn on.

The car is perky but the transmission gearing is awful. With the HP provided I would have thought it would drop into the 14's in the 1/4 mile, bad gearing.

Anybody have issues with the doors where when you open it you get a loud click or clunk from it?

Still have the intermittent issue. Dealer couldnt find any issues because it is intermittent. I was just hoping Ford may be getting some feedback from other owners if they had issues.

No the fronts dont fit. The mounting tabs are an issue. The rear should be OK from what the OP said.

I agree. The Weathertech mats are a molded design that is supposed to be flush with the floor. If you need the factory mat to make them fit for the wrong year send them back till Weathertech makes the correct fitting ones for the 2011.

What do you mean the mounting tabs are an issue? If they are an issue it means they dont fit.

Thanks, I am going to let the Alarm installer deal with this issue. It seems EVERYTHING works on the car when the remote start is activated, usually it is only certain accessory's(A/C and heating systems) from my past knowledge.

It is nice to have if you enjoy this option if needed but I never had a use for it. I had it on my 2001 Vette and it also was an annoyance. On every car I had I always rolled up the windows before shutting the vehicle off, now the kids can bump a window button and roll one down just before I open a door and then I have to key it back up again to roll them up. I dont see why the radio needs to be on an extra few seconds before exiting the vehicle either.
