  1. Do you realize just how big Ford is as a company? Do you understand the relationship Ford has with its dealers? In most cases the dealer isn't even owned by Ford, so there is no direct path of responsibility to Ford, so if a dealer says they don't know what is going on, that isn't Ford's fault, its the dealers fault. Ford, as far as Wikipedia is concerned, has 218,000 employees itself, and this doesn't count the employees of almost 4000 dealers in its network. Do you fathom how big of a company this is? I agree, they may not have handled it eloquently, but get a grip. At least they are doing right by their existing customers, OR MORE IMPORTANTLY are at least trying to. When was the last time you heard of a car company going back to its EXISTING customers and righting a wrong in which they weren't being forced to do so by the government (recalls)??? Seriously, it never happens, ever. I am sorry you are having problems, as am I, but I am realistic about it. Submit your gripe to Ford (who by the way, no offense to the moderators of this forum, do not read this forum so your gripes are falling on deaf ears here), and move on. If you don't like the way they are handling it, sell your car. Or, realize that while it isn't perfect, and they haven't exactly handled it perfectly, so what, what company does? Does Microsoft (Windows Vista, XP, 95, Windows Phone, etc...)?? Does Apple (iPhone 4 death grip issue)? NO Sorry to rant, but sheesh people. We get it, there are problems, we all have probably experienced at least one issue with MFT at one point in time since it was released. But guess what? That is the nature of software, especially on the scale Ford is trying to accomplish here, and who oh by the way is also leading the charge into an area that has NEVER been tried in an automobile either. Off my soap box.
  2. For those not understanding why Ford is doing what they are doing, or saying they are not doing enough, read this article. I feel what most people who are having issues with the system fail to realize is that Ford is a car company. Traditionally car companies are very slow to change, and almost never provides updates to existing customers. Ford really is rewriting the book on what a car company should be, and are starting to understand what it takes to also be a software company. Food for thought for those complaining about issues and Ford's slow response. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7733934/DOC120711.pdf
  3. There is no such thing as "formatted as MAC". (MAC OS is a Unix/FreeBSD based operating system and the accepted formats there are usually ext, HFS or journalling; much different than the Windows based/created FAT/FAT32/NTFS we are talking about) The reason the MFT detects iPods is because it is programmed to understand how the iPod will be giving it its information, regardless for format type. USB keys on the other hand are flat-file storage, and beyond a certain GB limit need to be formatted as FAT32 or NTFS for devices to detect them properly (and all of their associated storage). MFT is programmed to understand FAT32. That isn't to say it can't or won't understand NTFS, but it will struggle with it.
  4. Well said akirby. I agree with you 100%. As a user who experiences massive problems on a daily basis with MFT (it froze on my way in to work this morning) I can empathize with those that say there are issues, and see, as a fellow IT professional, that it should just work. The state of affairs is that it does not, and people need to get over that and move on. Accept that Ford is trying (and trying in a major way just as those who are complaining have asked them to do) to right the ship and fix the problems. Complaining about it is not going to help any longer. Wait until the update comes out and accept that MFT is semi-broken for SOME users, and move on. If it is still broken for you after that, then don't complain about it then either. Hire a lawyer and file a class-action lawsuit against Ford if that is how far you want to take it. I for one am really excited to see Ford, a multi-billion dollar company, actually trying to improve something, and on top of that are rolling it out to existing customers. That is almost unheard of, especially in the auto world. Ford FTW. (And I am defending Ford, because while they did screw the pooch on this one, they realize that in a big way, and doing everything they can or know how to fix the problem)

Fuse 29 does reset the MFT system...I have to pull it every once in a while...though with the 2.11 release I have had to do it less. Make sure the car is off, and you keep the fuse out for at least 30 seconds. When you put it back in you should here what sounds like the CD-Player ejecting.
  6. I have always used the parking brake, regardless of whether I have a stick or an automatic. Never felt comfortable leaving the vehicle "resting" on the parking tooth....just seemed odd to me
  7. PM Sent to you gixxer.... Sorry Jared....gixxer was first, but I will keep you in mind if it doesn't work out!
  8. Hey gixxer, I actually bought the intake from Raul for my 2011, but it didn't fit (worth a shot I guess), it is back in the box just as Raul sent it to me....I'd be willing to sell it to you for what I paid him for it...PM me if you are interested....
  9. It was a true hands on, just not an in-depth one. Engadget also reported on the original press release. So, no #FAIL.
  10. Yeah, especially over USB....and I imagine the USB controller on this isn't the latest and greatest so it is probably pretty slow. My 2.11 update only took about 30 minutes, but either way I am just glad we don't have to go to the dealer to get updates now. Great process improvement on their part.
  11. All in all they seem to like it, though they do take a jab at the length of time the upgrade takes. Worth a quick read: http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/11/myford-touch-2013-update-hands-on/
  12. Read the website, or watch the video!!! It says early 2012 for the major update.
  13. No....read the section at the bottom of that link.....
  14. Oh I agree with you, but this puts the proverbial nail in the coffin to any of those people.
  15. Anyway you look at this, this is FANTASTIC news!!! Ford has listened and they appear to at least be trying to fix the issues with MFT. No one knows for sure if they have succeeded until we receive the upgrade, but for all of those that have complaints about MFT and Ford not responding, you can no longer say that at all!! Yay Ford!
  16. I had a Samsung Droid Charge which had a similar issue, but would disconnect after the first initial pairing for no apparent reason. What I later found out was that if you disable the automatic phone book pairing Sync wants to do, you will have no further problems. Of course you will not have the phonebook, but... I found out from Ford that it is the way Samsung stores duplicate contacts. Samsung stores them (in Android) as true duplicates, it doesn't merge them and make them one contact, even if it displays that way on the phone. To a bluetooth partner, it sees duplicates, and if that partner can't handle duplicates well (as the Sync does not), the pairing will drop instantly. Pain in the arse, but not Ford's fault. Samsungs fault for not storing their contacts properly, and per the spec. I have a new Motorola Droid Bionic, which isn't listed as compatible yet, but works flawlessly, even though I have duplicate contacts....
  17. Thanks 71, I for one am glad you did post another thread. +1
  18. I believe it requires an ActiveX client to install which is only available on Internet Explorer on Windows.....I have tried Safari, Firefox and Chrome on Windows and none of them worked.
  19. Hey Raul, sent you a private message!
  20. I will contact K&N to find out since that will probably be the fastest way to find out! EDIT: Email sent to them, I will let you know what I find out! Thanks!
  21. If it fits a 2011 3.5L I will buy it from you! Do you know off-hand if it does fit?
  22. Hi All, Has anyone out there that subscribes to the Sirius Travel Link services (including traffic) had an issue where JUST the traffic shows as "unsubscribed" even though they are all linked services, and Sirius says everything is correct on their end? A few weeks ago my MFT system on my 2011 stopped showing traffic, and when I go into the Subscription Status screen of the Travel Link services it shows Traffic as the only one as Unsubscribed in red. I called Sirius and they resent the command to the unit, and said everything on their end looks fine. I have also pulled the fuse and reset the system a couple of times. About the only thing I haven't done except take it into the dealer. I am on version 2.8 of MFT. Thanks.
  23. What cell phone are you trying?
