  1. Hey shantz, any rough estimate of what it cost just for the rocker pieces?
  2. pokkus, did you take the emblem off to plasti-dip it or just mask the paint in and around? Looks awesome!
  3. CD, why not just use the right side where the stock subwoofer goes? I used the JL Stealthbox, but there is probably enough room for a custom box if you want to go that route as well.
  4. Glad it worked out! It sure does fix that annoyance! Took me a while to figure it out too. Just wish I could get it to stay on in ACC. That would be the cherry on top! Cheers
  5. Hi F150, unfortunately no it is not. I already sold and shipped to concretejungle. Sorry about that!
  6. I installed an MTX RE-Q5 unit and amps to take the MFT head unit completely out of the sound producing business, and in my opinion it sounds much better. I install 4 boston accoustics speakers and the JL Audio sub (in the factory location), and mine sounds amazing.
  7. Would you take $120 plus I will pay shipping to Gilbert AZ?
  8. I have the vista roof and have HORRIBLE microphone problems.
  9. My post was aimed at making sure you realized an improperly formatted USB stick COULD cause inconsistent errors as both of you have reported. If you follow the directions and guidance on the FAQ's you should not have any problems. Computers can be finicky about format type (as wlepse pointed out FAT32, FAT and NTFS are VERY different and some computers cannot read one type over the other), drive size (I have noticed anything over 32GB causes errors with SYNC, 16GB seems to be the sweet spot). That is what I was getting at. Sorry for the bluntness I just get peeved when people blame the product when they don't fully realize they are not using the product correctly, or using pieces that are fully supported. And yes, the things I mentioned here can cause inconsistencies, not just outright failure to read all the time.
  10. Instead of just assuming it is just some random MFT problem, have you actually tried troubleshooting? Reading the syncmyride.com FAQ's there are some special requirements on USB sticks: http://www.syncmyride.com/Own/Modules/FaqManagement/FaqList.aspx?tagId=102 I have never had a problem with a USB drive on my MFT, pre update or not. It helps to read.
  11. Erik, Thanks for the photos in the email, I just have a few questions that I couldn't glean from them. Did you replace the microphone, or just cut out the circuit board in the picture? If replaced, which microphone did you end up using? How did you isolate the microphone from the headliner? I see some sort of spacing added in but can't tell from the pictures what it is. Thanks again sir!
  12. DM, I have an REQ5 unit as well and had the same problem. The fix is to hook into a switched 12V source and turn the auto-sense feature off. You can use a fuse tap for the 12V source via the red wire (I can't remember exactly which one, it is in the manual for the REQ5). I believe it is fuse 39. The only downside i have seen to this so far is that the power source I tapped into does not stay on when the car is in accessory mode, or when you turn the car off but don't open the doors. Other than that it has fixed the problem you have described. Edit: Oh, and it isn't your amp that is the problem, it is the REQ5, as long as you have the blue wire from the REQ5 as the turn-on lead going to the amp. If that wasn't clear from my post.
  13. Same here! I actually called after reading your post and the lady couldn't even tell me if it had been mailed, but that they had the correct address for me. Then when I get home, a nice blue package with SD card was in my mailbox! Awesome!
  14. Is the rattle constant, or comes and goes? I have a rattle up there that will shake or make noise like 3 or 4 times every few minutes.....haven't found what it is, but I will check the wheel wells this weekend!
  15. Interesting video from CES 2012 showing MFT 2.0 integrating with apps on phones, looks VERY promising! http://www.androidcentral.com/ford-shows-updated-sync-vehicle-android-integration
  16. In the grand scheme of things, using the GPU as a general processor is actually a pretty new idea, so don't fault them for not realizing it sooner.
  17. Per MTX the wiring to the REQ5 should come straight from the head unit, then the amps connect to the REQ via RCA cables. I put my REQ above the glove box, under the passenger air bag so I didn't have to find the wires in the back of the car. I just took all four speaker cables right off the wiring harness on the back of the MFT head unit (if I remember correctly the speaker wires actually come off of the CD-Player unit, not from behind the display, if you have MFT) I didn't use the sub nob or the ipod nob mainly because the MFT takes care of the IPOD control/sound (which then in turn the REQ does since it is receiving the sound from the MFT head unit, and I didn't want to find a place to have to mount the sub nob.
  18. I put my JL Stealthbox where the factory sub goes, and my two amps behind the spare tire (modified the plastic trays under the floor to accomodate the amps). I put my RE-Q5 just above the glove box wired directly into the head unit (MFT screen). This way I could tap into all four speakers instead of just one or two, plus I ended up replacing the factory speakers anyway, so this made the most sense for me.
  19. Ok sorry for my notch level, but were the words "it is the customers fault" or " we see it as the customers fault" anywhere in the releases? If not, you are reading into something that clearly isn't there.
  20. I don't see it as a contradiction. They made the business decision to not ignore their current customers which would have caused serious discontent among them, and they probably would have lost them as customers forever. The cost associated with going forward with upgrading previous customers obviously outweighed losing them as customers. You answered your own question. Since when in history has a car maker TRIED to so tightly integrate software into their cars? Ford is treading new water all around, from introducing it (notice Chevy, Kia, and others are following Ford's lead in an implementing a tightly integrated infotainment system), to supporting it to figuring out who to get to code for them. I do not think people realize truly how revolutionary Sync and later MFT were in the auto industry. It had never been tried before to such a degree.
  21. Again, that IS YOU READING INTO WHAT THEY ARE SAYING, not what they are actually in any way shape or form saying. Stop putting that on them.
  22. That's your inference, not Ford's misdoing, do not blame them for something they haven't actually said or done. Implying is very different that admitting. This is my point. People are complaining like Ford owes it to them just because THEY happened to CHOOSE to buy a Ford product. If you think that is the way the world works I feel sorry for you.
  23. Can you point to a single written document directly from Ford (not a dealer, and NOT by word of mouth) that shows Ford says these issues were user error? I have not seen that anywhere so I would be highly interested to see it in writing directly from Ford.
  24. Of course it is a business decision, everything in a for-profit company is a business (money) decision. No one ever said it wasn't. But when you think about it, they didn't HAVE to give it to prior customers. They could have cut their losses and put it in new cars only, which is what every car maker in the history of cars has done. Ford didn't, regardless of whether the dollars made sense to them or not.
