  1. The issue is related to the Samsung phone. I have a Samsung Droid Charge and mine does this all the time. If you google search "ford sync samsung charge bluetooth problems" you will see lots of people having problems with Samsung based Android phones. Seems to be related to how they store contacts. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092436 I did this(turned off the download of the phone book) and haven't had an issue since. It is a Samsung problem though, not a Sync problem.
  2. This happens to me on an almost daily basis!!! It is so freaking annoying! Mine also will go to min volume when I just press it down once. I have also noticed that when this happens the actually rotary volume nob also doesn't work properly (fails to turn down the volume or is very slow to). I think the next time I am at the dealer I will mention it to them. I have the non-Sony system with the MFT system with 2.8 software version.
  3. Man, I have massive dyslexia, I transposed the numbers. I read that thing 3 times and didn't catch that at all! Sorry about that guys!
  4. Read the motor trend article, quoted torque numbers are 280, not 250.
  5. Beemer, Did you have to sand or rough up the surface in anyway? I am looking at trying this for my grille and wondering if I will need to ruin the surface or not....
  6. I am not sure where you are getting your comparisons, but compared to the 3.5 V6, the EB is only down 50 horsepower, but 20 more ft/lbs of torque. I do not know what world you live in, but torque is the more important number in a vehicle this size, and 20 more sure sounds good to me (especially considering it will get 30+ MPG)...too small to carry itself? Sounds like the better choice to me when you compare the numbers: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/suvs/1011_2011_ford_edge_ecoboost/index.html http://www.ford.com/crossovers/edge/specifications/engine/
  7. Thats awesome!! How hard was it? What does the process entail?? I am thinking of doing this with my grill instead of the vinyl wrap, depending on how hard it is to do. Looks good man!
  8. http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/03/mulally-facing-pressure-to-fix-ford-fix-tech-and-quality-glitche/ Let's just hope he makes any future or proposed fixes retroactive to current MFT and SYNC users!!!
  9. As I told the other user, this fixed my problem....have you tried it?
  10. Osiris, you have all the screws off, so once all the sides and center are disconnected from their clips just lift UP over the lock mechanism by the window and that should allow it to come off. I just took mine apart again this weekend and there were the 2 screws on the bottom, the one on latch side of the door, and the one under the door handle. The door will feel really loose on all sides except the top if you have all the clips disconnected...once you're at that state just lift up and over the lock and it should come right off (after disconnecting the wiring for the lighting and window buttons of course).
  11. How would you wire into the fuse? What does that fuse control? I am looking to hard wire my RE-Q5 box as the speaker wire input (the unit detects voltage on the speaker wire) is annoying (unit, and thus amps attached to that unit, turn off if the volume is too low, or I am on a phone call and I am talking).
  12. Yeah...in itunes, click the "restore" button, but when it asks to recover from backup, tell it no...then resync music manually using itunes after it is all done.
  13. Mine has done this in the past, but I noticed if I formatted the ipod and resynced it the noise went away. From what I gathered I think it has to do with the syncing process and the only way I could correct it was to format....not a big deal though...
  14. Got the system done! Will post pics tomorrow. Good news is the system didn't prompt for any code, and just fired right up with the RE-Q5 setup and connected with two amps and the JL audio stealthbox....sounds awesome too!
  15. Unfortunately (well for you anyway :D ) I live in Phoenix, AZ....I will be working on the sound system tomorrow so I will remember to take as many pics as possible and post them. I will probably start a new thread, but will let you know on here where it is.
  16. ferney, I have never heard of that one. I am finishing the install this weekend (finally got the sub and amp mount done) so I will let you know what happens. I have installed at least 3 of these MTX boxes on mine and friend's vehicles and never had to do that, but you never know with this SYNC system. I hope that isnt the case! Did he happen to tell you where to get said code if I need it? I can post pics this weekend of the back of the nav screen as that is where I am going to tap into the speaker wire. For what its worth, the CD player is a separate unit, and that is where the wiring harness plugs into, and the screen is just an attachment to that. As far as I could tell my SEL without sub does not have the wiring harness for the sub, though there is a strange connector connected to what looks like a black plastic piece, though I do think that is a sensor as the wire color doesn't match up to what the subwoofer should be.
  17. I have taken the entire system apart recently as I am adding things to my sound system, and there is not a single place to put a "chip" for anything other than the navigation (in the center console) that I have found. I would demand to speak to the manager of the dealership and if not you will take your complaint straight to Ford.
  18. Does your Edge have the My Ford Touch with Sync system? If so then it should just come with Sirius, no chip needed. If not, then I am not sure, though that does sound fishy to me.
  19. Frybel, the front panels weren't hard to remove at all once I realized the last bolt is under the window button trim panel (for the front doors anyway). The front has 6 I think (2 on the bottom edge, 1 on the latch, 1 on the hinge side, the one under the window button trim panel, and one under the top silver trim panel on the hand hold which you just pry off to get access to the bolt). The back doors literally have 4 bolts (1 on the latch side of the door, 2 on the bottom, and one under a pop-out panel under the hand hold) and they come right off. I didnt have the Sony system so mine was even worse! Got the JL audio sub in today and after looking at the instructions and taking that rear storage panel off a few times already I think this is going to be really easy now that I have the amps all hooked up already! I will post pics when I am done!
  20. Does anyone know what the rubber mats at the bottom of the cup holders on a 2011 SEL are called? I lost one of them and tried to find them on the fordparts.com website but couldn't and didn't really want to make the trek to the dealer if I didnt have to.
  21. That sure is a negative approach to take things, especially to something that up to this point doesn't even apply to you. This too is my first Ford product, and I have to say, while it has its issues, it has been a great vehicle to own so far, and is certainly better than the two previous Toyota products I have owned. Stay positive.
  22. I will see what I can put together for you...it is a little dosconcerting to be pulling that hard on an expensive door, but it does take quite a bit of pressure to come off.
  23. Here is another picture of this on a ford fusion....routes the wires a different way which seems easier as long as your wiring would fit. Link would help! http://www.fordflex.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5294
  24. Nice find hunter! That sucks though!! That is a lot more work than I want to do! Haha! I will be taking a look tonight after work to see if this matches our Edge's or not. At least that guy provided high quality pics so we can just copy if in fact that is what needs to be done.
  25. Osiris, there are also screws around the edges of the front door and on the bottom. Did you remove those? I do not have pictures with me but will post them later. For the back, there is a bolt behind the grey trim piece like you found, and under the door handle itself behind a little plastic cover. As well as along the two side edges and the bottom, just like the front. Other than that it is just clips. I used plastic prying tools designed to remove auto panels that do not damage the door, or break the clips. Made it SOOO much easier. Got them from Crutchfield here: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_126CR3NGL/Bojo-Trim-Panel-Tools.html?tp=990&nvpair=FFType|Tools
