What did they offer?

That sounds like a great feature to me........

Black book is the local book that the dealers actually use to track wholesale prices based on auctions. It takes into account local conditions and up to the week supply and demand constraints. I don't think it's available online but if you know someone at the dealership they can probably check it for you. Why not? Let's say you're the used car sales manager. You can buy a nice used 2008 Edge at auction for $X or you can buy a nice used 2008 Edge from akirby for $X + $2K. The retail price is the same so why would you pay more for mine than you would for the same vehicle at auction? There are exceptions for cars that are unique or in short supply/hard to find at auction or a car that the dealer thinks will fetch a premium over a typical auction car. But realistically, when you trade-in a vehicle you're only getting wholesale value (black book). Anything above that is coming from the new car deal (outside of the exceptions). What are used ones selling for? That's probably the best gauge.

They're typically ignored everywhere just like other popular but not DOT legal mods like smoked headlamps and taillamps and wiring fogs to stay on with brights. My guess is some lawmaker had a problem and decided to make it a state law.

If you're still having major problems after a new APIM and 2.11 then I guess it is time to seek resolution. I'd still try arbitration over a lemon lawyer but that's just me. -
Care for black paint on 2009 Edge

Alrighty then. Thanks for the info. Although I still doubt whether the average person would be able to notice the difference. -
Have not seen a DIY fix.

Have they tried replacing the APIM yet? Have you tried a different dealer? -

I've seen folks who had numerous problems reporting that everything seems to be working and it's much faster. Even if one or two people continue to have problems I'd say that's a good fix. The ones who continue to have problems may have bad hardware. -

Get the 2.11 update first. If that doesn't fix it then I'd try arbitration before I'd hire an attorney. You need to get 2.11 first though because if you don't then Ford will say that it's already been fixed. And it might actually be fixed - no way to know unless you try it. -

So what is the difference, in scientific terms? Have you done a A/B test to compare them side by side on the same vehicle? I find it hard to believe there is any noticeable difference although I certainly don't doubt that some product mfr would claim that. -
They're illegal everywhere. It's a DOT thing, not a LA thing.

Try the 2.11 release before you give up. The reports so far are very positive. -

Day Time Running Lights
akirby replied to kylet's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Only if they are tied into the windshield wipers so they activate in the rain automatically during the day (Fords do for the most part but not necessarily other brands). And only if they have automatic lights and they are left in automatic mode. A lot of people don't have autolamps and some who do don't use them. I'd prefer to see autolamps standard with std wiper activation. I think that would be way safer than DRLs because it would prevent people from driving in low visibility situations without proper lighting. I also believe most accidents during the daytime occur because people do not look before pulling out or entering the intersection, in which case DRLs are useless. If you do look and you can't see something as large as a car in daylight then I don't see how having lights on will help. But that's just my personal opinion. -
You don't really expect a brick (CUV/SUV) to get the same fuel economy as a sleek, low passenger car do you? Simple physics says that won't work. But you should be getting way more than 20 hwy. What was the EPA estimate on your MKX? How fast are you driving on the highway? What size wheels? AWD or FWD?

Vista roof question from Edge shopper.

I don't ever remember that being reported on the Edge (or the Flex but I don't follow the Flex forums). -
Day Time Running Lights

That's debatable. It also causes some people to NOT turn on their lights when they need to (in the rain or at dusk). DRLs do not provide taillamps. -

The dealers used to be able to turn on DRLs with software but not on the 2011s. -
Flex. You can see a 360 degree picture on the ford.com website. Looks similar to my Tungsten Grey 06 Fusion.

Variable cam timing on both the intake and exhaust, mainly.

Then it's not a typical ping or engine knock. Time to find a mechanic.
