  1. I have a 2011 lincoln mkx. it was running absolutely perfectly. one night i went to start it and it wouldn't. then all of the dash lights would flicker, outside lights, etc. it was like the car went totally crazy. it was in a parking garage, so i went outside to call roadside assistence. after about 30 minutes i came back and it was still doing the exact same thing and i didn't even touch it. roadside assistence gave me a boost and it started. they suggested i drive around for a while for the battery to charge. i did and while driving i was getting all kinds of warning lights, sync would restart for "scheduled maintenance", etc. car was like it was possessed by demons. it was late at night and i couldn't drive it to the dealer. so i turned it off and decided i would drive it in to the dealer in the morning. when i tried to start it in the morning the same thing happened. i called roadside assistence again and they came and gave me a boost number 2. i drove to the dealer where i bought it and they wouldn't even come out and look at it. this was may 9...they told me the first appointment they can give me is may 22. i said well, can i leave it here and get a loaner....no loaner. all they would tell me is that they are very busy. so i ieft and drove it to another dealer who worked on my car before. they were busy too, but what a difference...they at least said they would take a quick look and if it was something they could fix quickly, they would. if not i could leave the car there and try to find me something to drive. after about 15 minutes they came and told me, it is a faulty battery. they replaced it and i was out of there in less than 1 hour. what a difference in service and attitude. so long story short: if your car is doing crazy things and won't start, look at having you battery checked. the advisor told me some modules in the car can react in strange ways when they don't get enough voltage (hence the car acting like it was possessed). i do plan to write to lincoln to complement the second dealer on their service and "help the customer attitude". as for the first dealer where i bought the car....i won't be going back there for anything. they have lost a customer.
  2. I have a 2011 MKX and i had the bump on acceleration from the time i bought it. It only happened about once a week. I read that TSB thanks to this forum and knew that that was what it was describing. When I took it in for its first service I told them about it....the advisor told me "ford likes the techs to diagnose problems and not just take TSBs from people"...when I got it back they said they could not duplicate it so they diodn't fix it...sigh...a little while later i took it to a different dealer and told them about the TSB...no problem, they did the TSB and I haven't heard the thump since.
  3. mine mkx is black. i usually only ever buy black cars, but when i saw the earth metallic and the dealer was still looking for the car, i said i would take either black or earth metallic. i see one parked near my apartment every day and i love that colour!
  4. Sounds like you want the Lincoln...it has the 3.7 and the base wheels are 18"...plus an extra year of warrenty
  5. Nav card fault -> mine does that when i start...i guess they should change the message to "Nav card loading..."....really you would consider this a major issue?
  6. I love my MKX! Just a few things I'd like to mention based on comments other people have made: - navigation system not showing streets and position correctly. mine sometimes does this. it looks like i am not driving on the road from the map. it happens for me usually when the GPS connection has been lost (like when I come out of underground parking or am under a bridge). it corrects itself after a couple of minutes....you can actually seen an X on the GPS when this is happening. it takes a while to pick up the satellites but is much better than the GPS i used before. - phone discconnects. mine used to do this until i discovered it was the phone. there was some setting in the phone (sorry don't remember exactly what it was called) under the bluetooth settings that required you to confirm the connection. my phone would then disconnect from sync after a few minutes because i did not confirm the setting. - i am surprised at how well the voice recognition works. although i will admit sometimes i get frustrated because it doesn't do what i want
  7. such a cool feature but why oh why is it only available in the US? i am pretty happy with my MKX which I have had for about 2 months. no serious SYNC issues or anything else for that matter. most comfortable thing i have ever owned and its fun to drive
  8. I have the same. i was worried about the repair and the soundscreen windshield, but people say its okay. i was expecting the cost to be about $100 but i hacen't taken it anywhere for anyone to look at it yet.
  9. I have a 2011 MKX and its a damn fine car. No problems, but i have only had it for 2 months. Fuel economy is great, lots of power and the most comfortable thing I have ever ridden in. Cancelling mught be a mistake
  10. I hear you on that. The last 2 new cars I have had someone has done a hit and run on a parking lot before I had 2000 miles...I am just waiting for it to happen to this one damage was always just a little more than my insurance deductible ($1000) so I fixed it myself rather than making the claim. I dunno I have never hit another car on a parking lot (knock on wood) but i think i would feel too guilty to just leave and not leave some contact info,
  11. I scratched the plastic volume control on my lincoln MKX. I have now idea how and its driving me crazy to see it I have a screen protector on my nav.
  12. Thanks to everyone for their replies. I will check in with an auto glass repair and have it done as soon as i get a chance.
  13. Hi, My brand new Lincoln MKX was hit by a flying stone on the highway. I have a small pit on my windshield (no cracks visible yet). I am not sure if I should get it repaired or not because I am not familiar with the SoundScreen windshield and I am not sure if the glass repair company needs to take any special steps because of this type of windshield. I just wonder if the windshield has some special coating on the outside that might be damaged when they drill and do the repair. I really don't want to end up replacing the windshield either and I have seen small chips turn into large cracks pretty quickly especially in the winter. Has anyone had a chip repaired on this type of windshield, if so are there any special steps the repair people need to take? Thanks for any info you can provide. c.
  14. Hi all, I'm just curious. I test drove a lincoln MKX and I could have sworn that it had nice metal/rubber sport pedals. When I took delivery of mine it had the normal all rubber pedals. Anyone know why? I can't see any option on the build and price that says upgraded pedals and I doubt the dealer did it because the one I test drove looked like they just got it (plastic wrapping over everyting, even the gear shift). Not a big deal, I am just wondering if I am going crazy c
  15. i have leased a few times...and still make mistakes. if you are only interested in new vehicles i think leasing is the way to go. if you are unsure about the deals, find some online lease calculators like: http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/oca-bc.nsf/eng/ca01851.html or http://www.carbuyingtips.com/download.htm and make sure your numbers and what is on the contract you sign is the same. it should be, if not there is something wrong. with reference to my mistakes, i recently signed a sales contarct/lease contract and i have no vehicle description on there...stupid i know...i was so excited by the price and so tired of refusing all the warrenty/rust proofing crap that i didn't make sure that the vechicle i wanted was described on the lease contract...only says the year, make and doesn't list the options. am i in big trouble? is the lease contract even valid without a vechicle VIN on there or is the contract just a way to make you think you have no choice but to buy what ever car they find? i gave them a $1000 deposit and haven't seen the car i want. c
