  1. Carbon, I live in Texas and the temp can get into the 100's pretty easy. I currently have a Isuzu Rodeo and will soon be getting something new (leaning towards the Edge). In my Rodeo I have a moon roof with a manually sliding sun shade. In the summer I put the roof in the vent position (back angled up and open) and then close the sun shade most of the way. I have found that this lets the care vent some air, yet blocks most of the direct sun. Can you acomplish something similar in the Edge? I know the sun shades are automatic, can you have them partially open or are fully open and fully closed the only options? Clayton
  2. Rusty, Hey I really like your idea. I have been trying to decide on which color interior to go with. I like the charcoal because it doesn't show the dirt, especially on the floor mats. I am looking at getting a White Sand and most come with camel interior. I like the look of the camel leather and the door inserts, I just know that the camel floor mats will show the dirt. Is there anyway you can take some pictures of your camel interior with the black floor mats? I would like to see how this looks. I think it will blend in nicely because of the existing black and camel color scheme. That's kind of weird about your rear ones. When you hold them up to the ones that came with the Edge are they the same? Maybe you got mats for the wrong model? Clayton
  3. Chris, Looks very nice, probably not the colors I would choose, but glad your wife likes it. Can we get some interior pictures? Would like to see the Katzkin leather and suede interior. Is it only the seats that get done. I would like to see someone add some leather or suede to the doors on the Edge. I am guessing you started with a camel interior. I would also enjoy seeing some of the stereo upgrades. Especially if you added amps or a box. Where and how it was installed, etc. Last question, is the edge as low to the ground as it looks? More like a Dodge Magnum? Looks more station wagony when it is lowered that much. The one picture showing the back sort of gives it a PT Cruiser type profile. Clayton
  4. I was looking yesterday at a few Edge's on my local dealers lot. I am trying to decide on the camel or charcoal interior. I noticed that the center console trim is different in the two models. They both appear to be a brushed aluminum, but the SEL's has these horizontal lines on it. This is something that I have not noticed before. I am planning on getting a Limited so have primarily looked at them, but they had no Limited's in the charcoal interior so I was looking in the SEL. Has this always been the case? It just seemed weird that there would be one thing different on the whole dash. It gives the dash a completly different look. Clayton
  5. Where does everyone think this fits in with the current models as far as base price? Between the SEL and the Limited? Above the Limited? It talks about upgraded interior leather? It looks like the matching lower skirts are the same or very close to the current ones, just painted to match the car. Clayton
  6. Can anyone shed any light on the mailer coupon? I would be very interested in finding out how to obtain one of these. Clayton
  7. Has anyone seen any reviews for the 2008 Ford Edge? Or any comparisons articles to other crossover vehicles? I am looking for any, online, magazine, newspaper, etc. I just haven't seen very much in print about it. Curious as to how it compares to the 2007, issues with front window glare, braking, etc. Or how it is stacking up against the competition. If you know or have seen any please share them. Clayton
  8. Can you explaing what the billet window sills are? Clayton
  9. Lex, Any chance of posting some pictures that show off both the White Sand and the Charcoal Interior. Outside looking in through open doors or rear hatches. I have seen some with the White and Camel, thanks kmhibbs and nppgirl. I think the Charcoal is the way I want to go, but there aren't any around to see the combination. All the White Sands seem to be Camel. Clayton
  10. I really like the White Sand Tri-coat and am now debating which color interior to go with and wanted to see what others on the board have chosen. My dealer recently received a White Sand Limited with camel interior. I was originally thinking about going with the charcoal or med light stone, but have seen the camel and now it is a consideration too. The problem is that I can't actually see those interioirs in the White Sand so deciding has been difficult. I thought charcoal initially because I liked the look of it, with the contrasting stitching, plus it ties in the black lower strip around the exterior of the Edge. I think it would also be least likely to show dirt. The only problem is that everything is black, so not a lot of contrast and everything runs together. I also thought that the med light stone would be nice because it is closest to the color of the car and matches the door trim and headbaord. Although it is probably the most likely to show anything, dirt, scuff marks, etc. I now have seen the camel and it looks nice as well. I like the black contrasting stitching that matches the dash and some of the trim and the camel matching the door inserts. So if you have the white sand, please tell me which interior you went with and why as well as your likes and dislikes with your choice. If you don't have the white sand but have any comments on the different interiors and their pluses and minuses I would appreciate them as well. Clayton
  11. Lex, Thanks for the link. It is nice to see the colors side by side. I like the interior view especially. I have not decided which color and interior I am going to go with and seeing them side by side is nice. I did notice that they make some strange choices of what changes from color to color. - The black interior is pretty straight forward anything that can be black is. - The camel interior uses a black steering wheel, black shifter and black moldings around the doors. Although it has camel colored inserts in the doors. - The medium light stone has stone steering wheel, stone shifter and stone moldings around the doors. As well as the stone door inserts. - It also appears that the camel and stone have the same carpet? I am not sure if this is the case, but it does not appear to change and looks more camel than stone. You would think that the camel would have camel steering wheel, shifter and moldings like the stone does. I guess I still need to really see them in person to make a final judegement. Clayton
  12. kmhibbs, Is the interior carpet white in color? Looked at your pics and can only see a little of it. Looks nice, but am guessing that it will be hard to keep it that color for long. In one picture it looks like you got the rubber floor mats. Did you also get one for the rear storage? Do you know if the carpet is the same color for the camel and stone interiors? Clayton
  13. Qballgreg, Congratulations on your new purchase! Give us some pictures please. Love to see some of the White Sand as well as your "nicely appointed" leather interior. Can you take a pic of the home link on the drivers visor? Which wheel option did you get? Clayton
  14. I called my local Ford dealer today to see if they had received the new brochures. They said they had arrived, so I decided to swing by on my lunch hour and pick one up. I saw the salesperson I have talked to once before and asked him if he had any 08's scheduled to arrive. He said he heard they had received two in and was planning on calling me once he had verified this. He checked inventory and they had indeed received two. A Black Limited and a Silver Vapor SEL. The Limited was loaded (he said they usually bring in the first of any new model fully decked out, to put in the show room and show off all the features. We went out on the lot and found the Black Limited first. It was easy to spot as it had the 20" wheels and the chrome belt line, wow those two things alone made it stick out from all the rest. He was right it was fully loaded, the only two options that it didn't have were the DVD, because of the Vista roof and the tow package. It had the SYNC, the NAV/Audiophile, the interior package (red & black leather), the power lift gate and the rear cargo management system. It was beautiful, it had not been cleaned yet and it was an overcast day in Austin and it still looked amazing. The wheels were nice, ete catching, distinct, but not to over the top. I wasn't sure I was going to like the chrome belt line, but it looked really good on the black. I was very impressed with the power lift gate, easy to operate from the remote, the switch on the back of the hatch or the switch inside the car. A simple push of any of these buttons and it would beep twice and then proceed to open or close. This was the first time I was seeing the appearence package in person with the charcoal and red leather with red stitching. I thougt it was very nice looking, dramatic but not to much. I also noticed that there was a door sill protector on the front passenger doors of the Limited. It was a black piece of plastic that had a metal insert with the word EDGE engraved in it. It ran about 70% of the door width and looked very nice with the black exterior. Is this something new? It was not on the rear passenger doors. I also looked at the Vapor Silver SEL. It was nicely appointed, 18" chrome wheels, Sync, charcoal interior, audiophile and Vista roof. I was surprised how dark it looked. It reminded me more of a Pewter than a Silver. It was overcast, so I would like to see it in the sun to get a full impression. I noticed that the chrome belt line did not stand out as much on the silver as it had on the black. It had the Charcoal interior and it was the first time I had seen it as well. All the 2007's they had were either Camel or Stone. I was really impressed by the dark leather and the contrasting stitching, a very elegant look. There was a salesman putting the Sync through it paces when I looked at it. He said he had been one of the two sales people that they had sent to train and get certified on Sync. He said it was working well, but was not as easy to navigate around in because it didn't have the NAV and touch screen. After seeing the two vehicles today it has helped as well as made my decisions harder. It have decided that I definitely want the 20" wheels and the power lift gate. I have not decided on the interior, when I saw the charcoal leather with the red inserts and stitching I thought that was what I wanted. Then I saw the charcoal with the contrasting stitching and was equally impressed. I think the red accents is a more sporty look but the the all charcoal is more sophisticaed looking. I am also torn with my color choice now. Having had silver for my last two cars I thought this would be a easy decision, but this is a different silver for sure. My next closest dealer is supposed to have received a Dark Ink Blue one, another color I am interested in and plan to see. So I am still contemplating this decision as well. I just wanted to share my experiences today with everyone here. Let me know if you have any questions. I hope to be making some decisions soon, but my guess is that I am going to have to order it from the factory no matter what I decide. Clayton
  15. That is very interesting, I had decided to go dark interior for the same reasons, concern about the glare. If even the light ones now have dark dashes that opens up the color possibilites. Can't wait to see some pictures of this. Why such a long wait for it to be prepped? You would think they could prep it in a day, unless the prep guys don't work weekends? I would love to just see the 08 brochure. My local Austin dealers are totally downplaying the 08's. "There's really no difference", "May not have them for months", "We have great deals on the 07's", etc. Except the two big items I want, 20" wheels and SYNC are only available on the 08. I guess they really want to clear out the 07's. Does the 08 brochure mention the "sport suspension" at all? Any chance I can pay you to mail me a brochure? Clayton
  16. Does anyone out there know if this would be a easy thing to change? Not in the radio of course, but the dash back lighting? I would think that they could just replace the light bulbs, but how easy/difficult that is would be the question. Clayton
  17. Here is an article from MSN.com on SYNC. SYNC Review Clayton
  18. Any chance of seeing some pictures? I know there have been some Silver Vapor pics posted, but they were late afternoon and don't think it showed off the color the best. I would like to see some in the midday sun. Also your has the Lt Stone which would be good to see as well. Clayton
  19. They got an 08, but was it a Limited or an SE or SEL? They don't use hub caps on any Edge's. I think you are confusing hub caps with chrome coating. I think all the Edge's use aluminum wheels that have been chrome coated. The coating is applied to the aluminum wheels. This keeps the weight and price of the wheels down. Clayton
  20. I would also really like to know what all has been changed in the "Sport Suspension". Have they changed the springs, shocks, maybe added a sway bar or a stiffer sway bar? Having the 20" wheels will give you better performance on their own, but tuning the suspension will help even more. Clayton
  21. My guess is that all of the Limited's will come with the 20" wheels/sports suspension. I think most people will want them on the Limited's anyway and as a package they will not be able to be swapped out. Easy to change wheels, but not so for the suspension. This way it is an option that all the Limited's get, making it "Standard", but still gets listed as an option and something you have to pay for. Clever idea if you ask me. Clayton
  22. Great info, thanks for your thoughts and impressions. What color was the one you saw? Hopefully one of the new colors, is so what was your thoughts on it? What color interior did it have? Is there a button on the tailgate to activate the power lift gate (closing), or does it always have to be done from the remote? I keep checking and neither of my local Ford dealers have received the 08's yet. They act like they aren't even coming, probably a ploy to get me to buy a 07. But I want the 20" wheels and the SYNC. As far as the 08 sitting lower, there could be a couple of reasons. A bigger wheel means that the ratio for the tire is smaller to keep a similar size. Because this is not always exact, the 20" wheel and tire may have a slightly smaller diameter than the 18" wheel and tire. My guess though is that they have tightened up the suspension. There are a number of ways to do this, different leaf springs, different metal compound, different shocks. Anyone of these could cause a small difference in the overall height. Lowering the body and tightening up the suspension would also help in braking, which I know was a issue with the 07's. This would cause the vehicle to have less nose dive (front end dip) when breaking and keep the weight more evenly distributed. Clayton
  23. Hope this helps.... http://www.theistore.com/cupholdermount.html
  24. Jmitchell, How big is the training book? Did you get to keep it? Would love to see some scans of the pages if possible. Clayton
  25. Chris, Thanks for the great info. I am hoping to be able to afford the NAV but was hoping that it was not necessary. Good to know that you can take full advantage of the SYNC option without it. I really think the hands free operation is a valuable saftey feature. I know I sometimes get a little too involved picking out songs on my IPOD or using my cell phone. Clayton
