  1. Hey, I like the idea of LEDs in my puddle lamps and license plate lamps, but those look a little intense. Do you sell various brightness? Thanks!

Our Bright TRAX LED Puddle lights definitely put out a lot of light, but not so much as to make them seem out off place or overwhelming. The pure white LED color helps to produce a more upscale look while adding to a much safer approach to the Edge at night.

We also offer a no risk satisfaction guarantee on all of our products. This guarantee allows you to try out our lights and if you are not totally happy with them for any reason, we will pay the shipping to send them back to us. (US residents only) we will then refund the entire order amount, including original shipping charge. So you won't be out a single dime by giving them a try.

We have had this no risk guarantee in place from the time I started this business three years ago. Since then we have produced and sold almost 9,000 LED puddle lights. In those three years, we have had a grand total of six customers who were not happy with their purchase and request a full refund under this guarantee.

    Many thanks, Dan

  3. Great information on how to run power your puddle lights. I do want to encourage you to add an inline fuse to the hot wire just before it connects to the vehicle wire. Can never be too careful when adding an accessory to a factory circuit.

Wanted to also share with you some new photos of our new Bright TRAX LED puddle lights. We have designed our own mass produced product. There is no more need to put down a core deposit, they are less expensive and they are brighter than our previous 5W Cree LED puddle lights. Our LED puddle lights are now 10X brighter than stock and 30% brighter than the old 5W Crees. Check out the side by side photo with the light meter readout.

  4. Glad to see your new LED tails went in well and you are enjoying them. We have made a revised set of installation instructions specific to the new 07-10 Edge LED taillights. It is still totally plug and play, like the 11-14 taillights. No wire cutting, splicing or tapping and no need to wire in resistors.

We have two sets of the 07-10 LED taillights (Shadow Black SPORT) left from the first shipment. We will have another 50 sets in stock by late March/early April (mix of both standard and SPORT). The price for the 07-10 taillights will be $329.00 for the standard and $339.00 for the Shadow Black SPORT version. If anyone is interested in buying one of the two sets I still have available, send me an email at info@daytimebrightlites.com and make the subject: "07-10 Edge Taillights - Forum". We will then arrange for you to place your order.

    Thanks,

    Dan Smith

  5. Our HID kit uses a ballast we helped design to eliminate the two most common issues found with universal HID kits, bulb flicker and false-start. False-start is what you are referring to when one or both HIDs will not fire up when the headlight switch is set to auto-on and the engine is started. False-start is caused by insufficient vehicle voltage being supplied to the ballast. Most false-starts occur when the headlight switch is set to auto-on, but some of the lower quality kits can have this occur even when the headlights are switched on manually. I did put a voltage tester on the headlight power wire and noticed an average voltage drop of about 5-10% with the auto-on setting. Most HID ballasts have an under voltage protection feature that will either shut the ballast off or not allow it to start if the voltage doesn't reach a certain level.

When we developed our HID ballasts, we actually used my 2012 Edge SPORT as the test mule. We had our HID kit manufacturer add components to the ballast that assures the proper voltage level is present on every headlight start no matter if the switch is set to auto-on or manua and then regulates the voltage during sustained service after initial start up. Besides eliminating the false-starts, the voltage regulation helps increase ballast life.

You will see that we also include an external power harness with our HID kits. We found early on that even though our ballasts worked perfectly on their own, most customers preferred installing a wire harness to power their ballasts directly from the battery. The wire harness adds little cost to the kit, so we chose to include it instead of offering it as an after purchase accessory.

Our HID ballasts also come with a lifetime warranty and like all of our products, we have a 100% no risk satisfaction guarantee. In short, if you aren't happy with our product, we will refund your entire order amount and send you a prepaid shipping label to return the item back. No out of pocket expense to try out our lights.

Feel free to shoot me an email if anyone has any specific questions about our quality HID kits.

    Thanks again, Dan Smith

  6. Hi all, thanks for the thread on our new Edge LED tail lights. I'm not sure when I will be able to get a video put together of the new Shadow Black tails, but here are some additional photos that may help. We have been getting some great reviews on these new lights from customers. I guarantee you will like them. They add so much to the look of the rear end and the brake light LEDs are much brighter than the stock tail lights.

We are just about to begin production of the same taillight that will be compatible with the 2007-2010 Edge. I am hoping to finish them by sometime in January. I will be sure to post to the forum when they are ready.

  9. Glad to here the K&N CAI works without a tune on the Edge. It has been a couple of years since I was looking into CAIs for my Edge SPORT with the 3.7L engine. Back then, there wasn't a true CAI system (not just a free flow filter) on the market that worked on this engine without causing hesitation, idling issues and check engine warning light. A custom tune was the only way to eliminate these problems back then.

I'm going to take a serious look at this K&N CAI. Thanks for the great topic.

  10. Got the 2014 sport for the lady. dont ready care for the massive 22'' rims, but it is a nice ride.

First, welcome aboard. Love your SPORT.

You mentioned that you would rather have a smaller wheel. You may want to consider posting a thread on the forum asking if anyone with a smaller wheel size wants to do a wheel swap with you. Just a thought.

  11. I have only heard of SE mirrors having the removable round cover where the puddle light would be. Can you take a picture of the underside of your mirror and either post it here or email it to me? (info@daytimebrightlites.com). If you have the removeable cover then all you have to do is run two conductor wire (18 gauge or larger) from the inside of the car to the mirror. The negative conductor of the wire you ran would connect to a body ground (there is a bolt under the trim near the driver's side door frame near the foot well. The positive wire would then connect to the dome light power wire. (IMPORTANT: always install an inline fuse on the new puddle light positive power wire just before it connects to the dome light power wire. Use a 3-5 amp fuse.)

Several of my LED puddle light customers have done this and were very happy with their upgrade.

  12. Did you tape it up or put some dielectric grease on it to prevent future issues?

I wouldn't recommend wrapping tape around a plug connection. Over time, moisture (in liquid form or vapor) will eventually find its way under the tape. And when it does, the tape will actually hold the water in, not allowing the moisture to evaporate causing even more rapid corrosion than if the plug connection was left uncovered. The best option is to squeeze a liberal amount of a good dielectric grease into both connectors, then plug them together. The dielectric grease doesn't hinder the electrical contact, but will seal any liquid or vapor out. I use it on all of my connections both inside and outside the vehicle. You can find it at any auto parts store.

  13. Thanks for the write up on the problem and work around on your HID kit. This should be helpful for those Edge owners who have the TRS kit.

For those looking to add an HID kit to their Edge should also take a look at our HID kit. I developed our kit specifically with the Edge in mind. I found a manufacturer who was willing to produce an HID system that eliminates all of the flickering and false starts that so many universal HID kits seem to have. Our fully digital AC canbus HID ballast assemblies have an integrated capacitors to allow the HID bulbs to fire up without issue especially with the "auto-on" headlight switch setting. For some reason, the auto-on setting causes a slight fluctuation in power to the headlights which can cause the HID ballasts to fail to start. Our ballast circuitry and integrated capacitor compensates for this initial power fluctuation and feeds the appropriate inrush current to our ballasts and lamps. Guaranteed starts every time.

  14. I was going to suggest you check all the electrical connections under the seat to make sure you didnt disconnet something while vacuuming or pulling things out from under the seat but I see that you believe its working a little bit, still might be worth checking

I had this happen on my daughters car. Turned out to be a loose plug under the seat. (Probably caused by someone kicking all of the junk that my daughter lets pile up on the floor behind her seat. When I went to see if I could find the problem, I felt like I was a magician performing the "pull the endless handkerchief from the sleeve routine". I couldn't believe how much stuff could fit under her seats. I did come out with $1.73 in change though. Not quite hourly shop rate, but better than nothing ;-).

  15. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new Edge. You will get used to the Edge quickly. I drive an Edge along with another vehicle and I still find myself having to get used to the funky turn signal stalk operation ;-).

  16. Hi Vexer,

Welcome to the forum. You'll find a lot of useful information and a lot of helpful folks willing to answer any questions you may have.

As for your HID kit inquiry, My company offers an excellent HID kit that was developed to work flawlessly on the Ford Edge. If you have done any HID kit searches here on the forum, you will hear about a lot of problems people have had with many of the HID kits out there. I was one of those people who tried several kits and could not find one that didn't have flickering or false start issues.

I found a manufacturer who was willing to help design and produce a kit for me that eliminated all of the problems caused by the Edge's electrical system.

Check out the HID kit at our web store www.DriveBright.com. Here is the link to the HID kit page: http://drivebright.com/home/product-category/hid-headlight-replacement-kit/

  17. Chipworkz is on the right track. However, a customer of mine gave me a nice method he discovered when he was replacing his stock tails with my new LED tails. He used a piece of wood 2X4 and cut it into a wedge shape. He then covered it with a piece of cloth. He stuck the point of the wedge into the gap between the lens and the body and twisted. He moved the wedge up and down the forward edge of the tail like Chipworkz shows and it easily works loose. With it being made of wood, the chances of scratching the lens is mitigated.
